Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope it was a good week, and I hope that those of you who have been suffering from carb flu are starting to feel better. Remember, keep up the electrolytes - sodium, potassium and magnesium. Which means firstly that you have to make sure you're getting plenty of salt - so salt your food during cooking and add salt to cooked food.

For potassium, you could also consider Lo-Salt. Good foods for all electrolytes include salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat (of course!) natural yoghurt.

A note about weighing in

If you're a daily weigher, you have several different options. You can either just record your weight every Monday (or whatever regular day of the week you choose - I am going to start weighing in on a Saturday, because my trainer records my weight as well, to keep me on track!).

Or you can record the lowest weight you achieved in that week

Or you can average your weights and record the average.

Whatever you decide, I hope it's a positive result!

tom weighing everyday will just make you crazy. I'm a reformed daily weigher. Try not to. I know it's hard. Your periods will normalise. Maybe once they have settled down do some measurements and track those? But not everyday, maybe weekly?

TomHaverford · 30/01/2016 15:18

Thanks for the reassurance Beyond and Gcal. I did read similar stories online about people having the same symptoms which was good to hear!

And I know you are right about the daily weighing. Last night I was lying in bed thinking that I absolutely wasn't going to weigh until Friday, or Wednesday if i really couldn't hold on.

Lo and behold i was back on those scales first thing this morning. Will try harder!

BIWI · 30/01/2016 15:33

Tom - list out for me what you've been eating and drinking for the last few days.

Oh the shame - DD has just told me that my breath is horrific! Am drinking lots of water but apparently it is really offensive and she physically recoiled from me at a distance of about 6 feet! Anyone else in the same boat? I am drinking loads to dilute ketones but to no avail!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 30/01/2016 16:25

B. Greek yoghurt
L. Ham, mushroom and cheese omlette.
D. Is going to be plain baked trout and creamy leeks.

Ive also made some celery and celeriac soup ready for lunch tomorrow and it smells amazing.

Mustbemad I am the same re bad breath. I messed up a little today with my food. Straight back onto low carb. I weighed myself today I am 9 pounds down. Defo keeping up with this WOE. BIWI can i continue on this thread if I want to remain in bootcamp for another 2 weeks? Just want to get rid of all the cravings before take the next step.

NigellasGuest · 30/01/2016 16:54

Beyond - normally I don't like "neat" coconut oil - to me it doesn't taste of coconut and it's sickly, but I might give that a go. Perhaps it will make me feel too nauseous to fancy anything banned!

BIWI · 30/01/2016 17:13

ami well done!

What happens on Bootcamp is that I start a new chat thread every week - but I always post a link to the new thread, so point people in the right direction!

mustbemad I know it's not pleasant but a) it's temporary and b) it's a good sign - it means you're in ketosis, which means you're in fat-burning mode.

If it continues to be unbearable though, you could chew some sugar-free chewing gum or suck some sugar-free sweets - although bear in mind that these have artificial sweeteners. An alternative is to increase your carbs a little. If you're in ketosis, you're also probably keeping your carbs very low, which means you could up them a little

List out for me what your menus have been like over the last few days and let me see if I can help with this

Dinner - pate on celery with a lump of cheese and cup of marmite

My fat is quite low today so going to see what i can create with hot water, coconut oil and some almond milk. It'll either be gorgeous or really horrible Grin plus maybe some unsweetened cocoa?

mustbemad71 · 30/01/2016 17:50

BIWI thank you so much - you are so kind! Does it wear off as you become fat adapted?

Yesterday was:

B: scrambled egg, avocado and spinach
L: calamari from M&S deli and cauliflower cheese made with dbl cream and cheese - only 0.4g carbs not in batter!
D: Bolog sauce with broccoli
S: assorted cheese

Today:

Brunch: scrambled egg avocado spinach and mushrooms in butter.
Snack: bacon several coffees with dbl cream
Dinner: chicken curry and Cauli rice with spinach

Ami. 9lbs congrats! Worth being in the Halitosis Gang with me?!

mustbemad71 · 30/01/2016 18:03

Tongue also rather furry - going to give it a scrape!

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 30/01/2016 18:04

I had a babybel instead :)

BIWI · 30/01/2016 18:16

Well your food looks fine!

There are three things you can do, from a quick Google:

  1. Brush your teeth and your tongue more often (if you think yours is furry, then this is probably a part of it!)
  1. Drink more water (but remember that you need to keep your electrolytes up - so plenty of salt, magnesium and potassium)
  1. Increase your carbs slightly

S: will be coffee with cream

mustbemad71 · 30/01/2016 19:02

Thanks BIWI will try those tips and maybe purchase a tongue scraper! I wonder if it's candida related?

ami9 · 30/01/2016 19:04

Mustbemad lollll defo worth it😊

TomHaverford · 30/01/2016 19:20

thanks BIWI

D- pork belly on creamy leeks

B- bacon and avocado
L- chicken cups and mayonaise ff
D- roast pork and cauliflower cheese
S- celariac chips

B- Scrambles eggs with butter
L- salmon fillet and broccoli with butter
D- steak and swede
S- roast swede

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 19:33

Candida dies if you don't eat sugar. I have a friend who had been riddled with it for years, tried everything the Drs prescribed but nothing worked. 2 weeks very low carb and it went...

TrinityForce · 30/01/2016 19:58

Low carbing is just fantastic. So many health benefits, I had no idea about the candida.

Those stuffed peppers looked great, Gcalgske

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 20:59

They are yum. V lazy day today. Weather spoons for tea. They do a 'skinny' steak - 8ounce rump steak and a side salad. It was a bargain and perfect LC food with a generous application of ff mayo and a griddled halumi (no sauce) on the side.

NigellasGuest · 30/01/2016 21:36

Is white cabbage low carb? I know green cabbage is.

What could I make with it apart from cole slaw? It's just sitting in the fridge looking at me!

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 22:03

It's fairly low. 5g/100g ish. I love it but probably once on BC lite. You don't really need a lot as it's quite dense (I find 150g a huge portion for my main meal).

Shred and fry until translucent with slightly browned edges (gives a good nutty flavour) in lots of coconut oil and butter. I like chilli, black onion seed and mustard seed in there too. Chicken works really well if you have it and then switch up a couple of eggs and stir them through (like you would for egg fried rice)

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 22:05

Cabbage steaks too! www.everydaymaven.com/2012/garlic-rubbed-roasted-cabbage-steaks/ (But use more fat and none of this 'cooking spray' nonsense.

ICJump · 30/01/2016 22:57

After reading through I realised I've been neglecting salt. I have a daily magnesium supplement so I think it's potassium. Which explains why I've baked (but not eaten) 3 batches if banana cookies.

I'll focus in salting my food for the next few days.

B: Brie mushrooms asparagus and two sliced roast beef
