Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope it was a good week, and I hope that those of you who have been suffering from carb flu are starting to feel better. Remember, keep up the electrolytes - sodium, potassium and magnesium. Which means firstly that you have to make sure you're getting plenty of salt - so salt your food during cooking and add salt to cooked food.

For potassium, you could also consider Lo-Salt. Good foods for all electrolytes include salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat (of course!) natural yoghurt.

A note about weighing in

If you're a daily weigher, you have several different options. You can either just record your weight every Monday (or whatever regular day of the week you choose - I am going to start weighing in on a Saturday, because my trainer records my weight as well, to keep me on track!).

Or you can record the lowest weight you achieved in that week

Or you can average your weights and record the average.

Whatever you decide, I hope it's a positive result!

Me to drdiva, anniversary at a hotel. Many a Gin and slimline tonic was consumed, food was OK although did succumb to a bag of macadamias. I hate hotels lack of available drinking water.

Sniffed a lot of things I wanted to eat but then put them down (hubbies meal, not random strangers lol). Still I must've looked like a right weirdo.

DrDiva · 30/01/2016 09:49

I did however go and have my favourite breakfast of scrambled eggs and mushrooms and I didn't eat the amazing sourdough bread that came with it. Also had homemade chicken soup for lunch. I thought I was doing so well.
Actually had some sleep last night for the first time in about four days so I hope a clearer brain will help me keep on the straight and narrow.

DrDiva · 30/01/2016 09:52

I really can't believe the lack of lc stuff out and about. It's the same with dairy free for kids - it's so common, why don't they cater for it? Or when they do, they substitute soya, when 50 per cent of dairy allergic/intolerant kids also react to soya. Argh!
Here endeth the rant. Maybe I do need more sleep Blush

FelicityFunknickle · 30/01/2016 09:52

Me too
I think you did well Gc. Considering the event and temptations.
I am using my slip up as an experiment in moderation though. Pre bc I would have struggled to stop at one G&sl amd one glass bottle of Merlot. So, not excusing my behaviour (after all, it's only me who will pay the price on my fat arse) but trying to turn it into a positive.

blackteaplease · 30/01/2016 10:18

That is a good way to view it Felicity. I shall consider my slip a test of willpower and be pleased that I didn't stray too far off the plan.

BIWI I am back on super low carb today. Breakfast was scrambled egg with smoked salmon and baby spinach. Coffee and water to drink. Delicious.

antimatter · 30/01/2016 10:37

I amu inder 14 st for the first time in nearly 5 years!
Another winning was I went to the pub with work guys and only had doarkling water all night whilst everyone else was havig beer and whiskey.
I felt I didn't need to drink anything else and woken up after 20 hours of deep sleep. I try to go to the gym most of lunchtimes snd yesterday felt I was really working with my body and nearly 2lb went away overnight Grin.
I know I am doing the righ thing this time!

ami9 · 30/01/2016 10:54

BIWI i am reading the thread. I have been having cheese, normal amount of salt in chicken, cheese and cooked peeled prawns as I was feeling great (just thirsty) I didnt realise i needed more salt. Im on it now thanks for pointing it out x

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 30/01/2016 11:22

Gourmet burger are great for eating out - they actually offer replacing the bun with salad on their menu (and their food is rather yummy too)

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 12:31

I'm with you Drdiva - DD has only recently grown out of her CMPA and is still soya intolerant. The mind boggles, the amount of food and snacks I used to carry with me 'just in case' was unreal because I literally could not buy a Df/SF sandwich anywhere - even if we ventured in to the 'big' city (Aberdeen Hmm)

We went to a curry place and I had dry tikka chicken and then a prawn dish (name forgotten) but it was a tomato sauce with green peppers/chilli/garlic. The chef used no onion in it so it must have been low. I said I couldn't have sugar so they gave me yoghurt with fresh mint and cucumber to dip with the chicken. Also had a saag paneer. Was v v good.

BIWI · 30/01/2016 12:41

If you happen to have a Leon near you, sadly they're mostly London based they are really good for low carbing - especially their breakfast posts - poached egg with ham hock and truffled gruyere sauce is fabulous! For lunch yesterday (we ordered in at work) I had three of their sides - meatballs in tomato sauce, roasted chicken thighs with fresh herbs, and half a pot of their slaw. It was delicious - although probably a bit too low in fat to be truly perfect.

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 12:56

biwi the eggs with ham hock sounds devine!!!
I don't think Aberdeen will get a Leon anytime soon. Pret is fancy for here (although they have a couple of reasonable - if a little low fat - options) we do have GBK too.
Well done antimatterStar

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 13:11

Chilli peppers stuffed with cream cheese!

Week 2 - 2016 Low Carb Bootcamp - our first official weigh-in!
NigellasGuest · 30/01/2016 13:15

BIWI Where at Euston is the Leon? That's my station - haven't been into town for a couple of months and usually in a rush, so i haven't noticed it!

Bills is quite good- you can get a really nice bunless burger there.

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 13:19

Wrapped in bacon Grin

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 30/01/2016 13:21

Blush Sorry BIWI the new painkillers really kill the pain. Shame it takes sense with it Blush

Mook yep yep to angry crafting. Grin

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 30/01/2016 13:30

Glad they ar eworking einstein :)

I'm having pork belly and salad for lunch, struggling to eat it as TN is still being a bastard. Doctors appt on monday though

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 30/01/2016 13:45

Well I survived working nights with no cheating or mishaps

Are we nearly 2 weeks in? I'm 7 pounds down and seem to be stalling

Is that right?
What now?

I'm not drinking enough water I don't think
Maybe more dairy than I should as well

DrDiva · 30/01/2016 13:52

gcalske that's interesting, DS is the other way round. He is growing out of his soya intolerance - he can now eat branded bread and well-cooked soya spread - but the dairy is taking much longer. We tried the ladder, managed a couple of shortbread biscuits before all hell broke loose Hmm

BIWI · 30/01/2016 13:55

Nigella - it's new at Euston, which is probably why you haven't seen it. It's up on the balcony, which is another reason why you won't have seen it!

LexLoofah · 30/01/2016 14:11

gcal happy anniversary

pata cauli risotto was lovely and not cauli tasting at all. Warning does not look very promising until you add the cream and I added some cubes of Brie too which worked really well

Well done on those getting back into clothes and staying strong

mook I don't crochet but I do do angry cleaning, so goddammned productive and cathartic

B - oven roasted crispy streAky butchers I.e thick bacon, 2 fried eggs, 2 cups of tea
L - celery stuffed with butter, cucumbers, LC crackers with pate
D - DH and I going out, menu looks good, have some dark choc already in my bag in case we want a little something with our coffee but the cheese board for dessert looks very appealing too. DH the bastard has lost a lb a day this week so the challenge for him will be to avoid rewarding himself with a drink as will of course be more than one, I will leave him to decide though just glad he is doing this with me for both our sakes

Off to the farm shop as we have got through a tray of eggs and 2 packs of butter since Wednesday ....

BIWI thanks - I will look out for it.

mumontherun I think that's normal - keep going!

Does anyone have any tips for not having the sweet munchies in the evening when you sit down to watch TV etc? I haven't given in to it - and the craving is not as bad as before LC-ing - but other than herbal teas or Total and too much double cream, what could I have that feels like a treat? Or is it just not possible on BC and I should just wait for BC-lite?

Gcalgske · 30/01/2016 14:45

It's weird isn't it Drdiva, allergies are a nightmare. I'm not that worried about soya though. I don't like it myself (largely because I have hormonal issues and I'm not sure about the effects of the phytoestrogens - I'm really not good with science so I'm avoiding it on the advice of an endocrinologist I once had a consult with about 10 years ago Hmm to be on the safe side) so I'm not sure about its effect on a developing reproductive system but that's pure conjecture really. We've not really tried reintroduction - every accidental exposure has resulted in explosive bum though.

TomHaverford · 30/01/2016 14:50

Am i making myself crazy by weighing every day? i only lost 2lbs in the first week despite following the plan to the letter, and every day i go on them now im up a lb!

Must try to cut out dairy. I also mentioned on the previous thread that i had a period come early- its still ongoing although lightly, but 15 days and counting...

Maybe i'll lose weight by slowly bleeding to death.......

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 30/01/2016 14:57

I wouldnt worry about the bleeding tom, i'm on my second period of the last two weeks too Grin and i dont get periods - i have a bastard mirena!!

Nigellas, have you tried having a spoonful of coconut oil? Its almost like having a bounty....
