Week 1 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - Are you ready?!

BIWI · 11/10/2015 22:44

Evening all!

I'm starting the chat thread a little early, because I have to be at work at sparrow's fart tomorrow.

So here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, created and curated by the very lovely SayrraT

You don't have to add your weight - but you can also be on the spreadsheet without entering your actual weight. If you want, you can index it - which means that you start at 100. For every pound that you lose, lose a point. So if you lose 4lbs in week one, then you'll start week 2 at 96.

Have a good look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet, as there is all sorts of really important information there - not least of which is Bootcamp rules.

If you haven't done Bootcamp before, I'd suggest that you print off the rules and stick them somewhere that you'll see them regularly. In addition, I'd also suggest that you print off the list of vegetables and their carb counts.

If you have any particular questions, the questions thread is here - it's often the case that the chat thread moves so quickly in the early weeks that questions can easily get missed.

And don't forget the recipe thread! There are loads of lovely recipes on here - the thread is almost full, but there's still room for any more low carb recipes you might want to add.

Above all, good luck to you all. Bootcamp is designed to be simple and straightforward, but it isn't easy. If you have any problems, or think things aren't working, please come and chat about it here.

Ha ha, I'm sure it's lovely I hope you'll be having a chunk of it on the day? Christmas day doesn't count right?

And thanks, It's totally water but I don't care!

Palomb · 16/10/2015 11:13

Christmas from December 20th to January 4th doesn't count in diet terms.. Not just Christmas Day :)

regenerationfez · 16/10/2015 11:14

PalombThe Christmas cake is on my list too! Thinking of waiting for BC lite in case I get tempted my its spicy loveliness, or in the hope my resistance will be higher Grin

StoneFoxMama · 16/10/2015 11:24

And this is why a birthday on january the 6th is rubbish, solitary cake eating is never fun .

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 16/10/2015 15:53

STONE -same day as my DD, i was just glad it wasnt actually xmas as thats a seriously rubbish time to have a birthday! ( my poor mother) My new years diet never starts until after her birthday - its pointless otherwise.

Palomb · 16/10/2015 16:01

Both my dc have Christmas ish birthdays, ds's is on NYE! Dd hates hers which is at the beginning of Jan. The whole season costs us a flipping fortune so I need to comsole myself with food and wine

My appetite seems to have returned a bit today. Maybe I had a bug or something.

Brunch bacon eggs and mushrooms in butter
Dinner is bolognaise with shredded greens and runner beans. I put loads of veg in my bolognaise.
I have some chocolate for later on

I might have some wine.

Wombatinabathhat · 16/10/2015 17:00

Had another weigh this morning and 4lbs down since Monday.
I'm thrilled, but I have had a will of steel. EVERY single day someone has brought baking into the office. I've resisted and been rewarded Grin
Weekends are always hard for me to stay on the straight and narrow but will do my best.
B: scrambled eggs with cream
L: pork curry and sm portion of greek yog.
D: kiln roasted salmon and mayo.
2 decaf coffees with cream

More veg/salad next week

StoneFoxMama · 16/10/2015 17:08

desperatelyseeking it's amazing how many people I meet that share my birthday, 2 girls in my year at school, my best friend (he was born a few doors up too!) my old boss and about 4 facebook friends. I guess we should be glad of the excuse to keep on partying but its hard to get people on board. Tell your daughter all the best people are born then Grin

Palomb my ds2 is the 29th dec, then me, then dh on the 14 feb and just to drag it out ds1 on the 23rd of Feb. Bankrupting, I feel your pain.

lavenderhoney · 16/10/2015 17:10

B - some left over bacon the DC didn't want
L- left over venison bolognaise
D- not sure, DC are having duck with noodles so I'll see what duck they leave.

Made it to the gym, and only 2 coffee cremes and a green tea, and one litre of water to drink. Weighed myself. Must add to spreadsheet when I get my laptop back from menders:)

regenerationfez · 16/10/2015 17:51

Well I had
B: 3 slices bacon and a fried egg and tomatoes coffee with cream
L: Leftover sausage casserole, Americano with splash milk
D: Not sure. Kiuds had friends over so did them some pizzas. There is some leftover for DH. Need to go to Tescos so might get a rotisserie chicken and salad for my dinner
S: 2 slices ham, tea with almond milk

Bit porky today but I resisted temptation to snaffle leftover pizza and garlic bread, as well as a delicious looking coffee and walnut cake in M &S!

LexLoofah · 16/10/2015 17:58

B - crispy prosciutto, buttery scr eggs, cuppa, coffee w cream
L - leftover cauli cheese & buttery spinach
D - soup using leek, cauli, celeriac & swede. Added lemon juice and mustard (regeneration I like it a lot too!) as well as cream & parmesan at the end, was really lovely. Topped with strips of crispy cabbage & prosciutto - did not miss the bread at all. Good as a comfort food option

DH back for a week, yay, have a good LCHF weekend everyone

Balonder · 16/10/2015 18:03

Checking in for today.
B Ff Greek yoghurt
L Scrambled eggs with butter and cheese. Wilted spinach and coleslaw
D Carbonara with courgetti and buttery mushrooms

debka · 16/10/2015 18:24

Checking in.
B- cheese omelette
S- pork scratchings
L- salad with avo, chicken and coleslaw
D- celeriac soup from recipe thread, fuck me it's good

Off to do a night shift. First one for ages, not sure how I'll manage food wise. Taken some more soup and pork scratchings but don't imagine I'll be hungry. Hate nights :(

ShebaQueen · 16/10/2015 18:27

Hello everyone, had a day off work today. Scrambled eggs for breakfast with mushrooms and spinach then tuna mayo with salad for lunch. Did some cooking this morning to stock up my freezer with plenty of low carb goodies. Made some broccoli and blue cheese soup from the recipe thread and am looking forward having some of that later plus some courgetti with chicken. Have done well with my water intake so far, but off to have some more now. Have a good evening Smile

Billionnairewannabe · 16/10/2015 19:21

Debka - poor you! I'm a shift worker & night shifts make you feel like death.

Day 5 complete!
B - omelettes, bacon, mushroom, tomato (didn't even touch the carby sausage at work)
L - prawn & crayfish avocado salad (From Pret)
D - minute steak with mushroom cream sauce & aubergines.

well done to all the sneaky weighers who have lost already. I've got to go and get a set of scales tomorrow but will weigh at Boots tomorrow. When is the official weigh day - Monday?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 16/10/2015 19:26

Well. I haven't been to supermarket on a hungry stomach for a long while. Usually after a lchf meal I don't end up buying enough as I'm stuffed. It was difficult!
Anyway. I saw a tin of pumpkin (plain, unsweetened) on sale. Kids have been asking to try so I got one. On all the US sites, they use pumpkin a lot for lc receipes. It's not particularly lc. What does everyone think? Would you use, what for?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 16/10/2015 19:28

And I need soup. Broccoli or spiced cauliflower?

CalmYoBadSelf · 16/10/2015 19:28

I made a protein pancake this am with a blob of ff philly, 1 egg and 1/2 scoop of protein shake (1.5g carb) and had it with half and half CoYo and greek yoghurt with 8 blueberries and sprinkling of pumpkin seeds. I know it's naughty as not strictly bootcamp and there's a few carbs in the berries and seeds but it stops me going faint in my training session so has become a Friday treat

Scrambled egg and salmon for lunch then curried cauliflower soup and chicken for tea. I did cook some belly pork slices for tea but discovered when I opened the pack that instead of plain ones I had bought salt, pepper and chilli which are, sadly, just too spicy for me

CalmYoBadSelf · 16/10/2015 19:30

Ooh coincidence Natural, I've just had cauliflower and would take that over broccoli any time

BestIsWest · 16/10/2015 19:36

Scrambled eggs for breakfast and coyo (yuk) , lovely lunch of avocado, olives, some cubes of manchego and slices of chorizo. Dinner was gammon, egg, mushrooms and mashed Swede followed by Lidl Greek yoghurt.

1coffee with cream this morning.

ChesterDawers · 16/10/2015 19:48

Hurrah, I seem to have an appetite back! That said, my choices today have not been strictly BC perfect, but I'm just thrilled to feel hungry again. Life is still shit, and tomorrow DH goes away with work for a week, but my body has finally realised FOOD IS GOOD!

Today:
B: one boiled egg mashed with butter
L: shared bowl of olives and a handful of peanuts, prawn and quails egg salad in vinaigrette type dressing, left spuds and croutons [halo emoticon]
D: M&S pork in paprika and sherry butter (about 6g of carbs for the whole thing Blush ), sprouting broccoli tossed in butter, courgetti in butter, big mushrooms filled with cambazola cheese

I went tot the gym earlier too. So peanuts and meat, not great, but delighted to be back on the eating wagon, even if it is only temporary. I've always envied people who lose their appetites when upset but never again!

Huntthepigsear · 16/10/2015 20:55

Great to hear everyone is doing so well.
Chester glad your appetite is coming back.
Sorry, can't remember who is starting night shift but Thanks, I've done my fair share in the past and hate them. Don't know what and when to eat and can never sleep in the day.

Had another great day and think I am converting DH! He's not being as strict as me, but is trying to LC and has been saying how good he feels and how full. He's even having wine tonight instead of beer Shock
I'm abstaining as per boot camp - in fact, I've had a dry October up to now, so might try for the whole month. Last of my 12 day stint at work, can't believe how good I feel. I usually am half dead by this stage. Roll on the weekend.

Food today has been:
B - 2 soft boiled eggs and coffee with cream
L - tinned mackerel with salad and hm vinaigrette
D - mince beef chilli with cauliflower rice
S - not had one yet, will have FF Greek yoghurt if I need anything. Oh, I did have another coffee with cream, if that counts.

Happy weekend everyone.

Beccus · 16/10/2015 21:06

lex, that soup sounds amazing! Did you blend everything together? I had fried egg and buttery spinach for breakfast, fish'n'chip fish with the batter pulled off & salad for lunch and a delicious dinner of cabbagd cooked in butter, some steak with blue cheese melted on top and some aubergine & green beans and mashed cauli....really wanted a glasd of red with it and some chocolate. ...but still hanging in there. One almond milk latte and lots of decaf tea and coffee with almond milk

yongnian · 17/10/2015 08:31

Lidl Turk yog dbl cream n coco oil

Couple of slice of goat cheese

Avacado n mayo n 2 slices black forest ham

Pork scratchings

Double cheeseburger (ditched the bread)

Handful nuts

Not a great day as was out for the most part of it. Water intake okish but couldbe better.

Usually have carb creep at the weekends but really going to be determined today.

Palomb · 17/10/2015 08:44

Another lb off this morning! Low carbing is the best way to lose weight!

It's going to be a difficult day for me today. I Have family coming over so I'm doing a slow cooker beef in ale thing. I am hoping the cooking process cooked off all the alcohol and sugar. The recipe says 17g carbs per portion which I don't think is too bad if I just have it with greens and broccoli?

Everyone else is having dumplings and mashed potatoes the bastards
