I've put on 2kg due to holiday, wine and carb only options at work catered events over the past few weeks and it needs to come off!
I'm back on BC today, anyone like to join me?

So BIWI any advice re the macadamias? I prefer them to other nuts as they have a low omega 6 ratio.

BIWI · 12/10/2015 10:35

Sorry - I saw this and then totally forgot to reply! I'm surprised at the 7.3 because I always understood them to be pretty low carb but this might help

backonthewagon · 12/10/2015 23:33

No worries. I am always half typing out replies and never sending them!

The link has boggled my mind even more. It says 1 oz of macadamias is 4g carbs. Which means 100g would be approx 14g carbs which doesn't seem right at all!

backonthewagon · 12/10/2015 23:38

Google also lists total carbohydrates as 14g carbs per 100g. I think that is the American carb value and isn't that different to how we measure carbs?

Gcalgske · 13/10/2015 13:55

The Americans look at total carbs on their labels. There is a lot of confusion in UK low carb groups about this issue. In the states people talk about either counting 'net' carbs or 'total' carbs but for us in the UK our labels are different so these don't apply in the same way. Confusion arises because most low carb literature is produced in the U.S.

So for example peanuts.
In the USA a label will say:
Carbohydrates per 100g: 16.13g
Of which Fiber: 8.5g
Of which Sugar 3.97g

Where as here (or EU) our label will say:
Carbohydrates per 100g: 7.8g
Of which sugar 3.97g
And then listed separately
Fibre per 100g: 8.5g

The Americans count net carbs by subtracting the fibre from the carb counts. We don't have to do that, it's already been done. So our base model is net carbs. If you want to count total carbs here you have to add the fibre back on. There are exceptions though (imported goods, Atkins bars etc) just to confuse us more.

I have 2 bags in (one tesco/one sainsbos) both say 5.2g/100g.

backonthewagon · 14/10/2015 11:06

I have a pack from Morrisons and it says 7.3g/100g on the back. That's made me weary about even having a small handful now as 7.3 is a bit too high.

LexLoofah can you put creamy lemon chicken on the recipe thread please?

Gcalgske · 15/10/2015 20:14

Still not feeling breakfast at all. Coffee with cream and a berroca with my supplements
Lunch was the last of the green tomatoes baked with dried Parmesan crust and pork belly
Dinner was 2x chicken thighs roast in olive oil with courgettie in basil, garlic and cream cheese.

Gcalgske · 17/10/2015 16:47

Had takeaway last night. Tikka salmon with Saag paneer. Very yummy but filling.

Gcalgske · 18/10/2015 20:41

How's everyone getting on? I accidentally had wine last night, only one glass of dry white (Sauvignon blanc) was delicious but I had a mega headache within 20 minutes and felt really p*ssed. Hubby said it's because I'm not eating enough. My portions are quite small but getting at least 1600 calories (I still use mfp) with macros around 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs. Anyone else just become a huge lightweight re. booze?

backonthewagon · 21/12/2015 20:47

I am trying to stay on the straight and narrow as much as I can until Saturday (working xmas day so celebrating on 26th)

However it is our annual trip to the Birmingham German market tomorrow. Foodwise they do soup, bratwurst in curry sauce, deep fried cauliflower, aubergine and courgettes. Drinkwise does anyone know how carby things like cherry wine, apple wine, raspberry wine and blueberry wine are please?

Marking place to read later as I need to keep focused. Day one today for me!
