BIWI · 20/07/2015 07:23

Morning all!

Here, for the last time this Bootcamp is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hopefully the scales will be kind to you for our last weigh-in!

For those of you that are still here - even you lurking at the back! - it would be great to hear how much you've lost this Bootcamp.

And also, we'll keep this thread going for chat - when it fills up I'll start another general low carb chat thread.

Will this do, StoneFox?

It's 200g shredded mozzarella, 3/4 cup group almonds. 1 egg and 2 heaped tbsp cream cheese. You microwave the cheeses until the mozzarella goes stringy then beat in the egg/ almond. It's like a proper dough. I've made Stromboli and sausage rolls and even had s go at a pasty with the dough.

And ...

A cup of ground almonds is 110g

Aha! Found you again.

I am determined to start again this week after a couple of weeks of total twattery. Tomorrow will be the day! no more cold, no more runs, no more "DH is away and I can't cope" - LC BC is back on track tomorrow.

StoneFoxMama · 23/08/2015 21:36

Thank you BIWI, we made double and now I'm going to be eating it for days, forgot how filling it is. Still in France, surprisingly easy to lc. Going to have a proper catch up on the thread now.

BIWI · 23/08/2015 21:52

I know how you feel, Thumb! I have a horrible week next week, but if I don't rein things in, it's yet another excuse.

BIWI · 23/08/2015 21:53

I have 17 weeks until we go away, so if I get back on track properly tomorrow, I should be able to shed more than a few pounds!

nc again, I am still trying to find something which I like

I am going to quote you back at yourself Biwi, forgive me, but you are right that this WOE is unforgiving. We had a family occasion over the end of last week and while I tried to stay boot camp, it was more like LC - and yes, two pounds on. I think some people respond differently to carbs - DD seems fine with them but DS has my issues of always being hungry and gaining. I found this great website of LC ideas for children and i am going to shift things in that direction.

miffy49, you asked how I was taking the ACV - in various ways, I am still experimenting with what I can stomach! I am not hugely convinced yet, although it makes a brilliant skin toner, noticed the difference in a couple of daysGrin

iamaboveandBeyond · 24/08/2015 10:00

Same here romii, party yesterday and i stayed away from bread/pastry/crackers, but did have a cake and food was far from perfect. 4lbs on!!

Good from today...

Omelette with mushrooms, shallot, pepper amd a little cheese. Coffee with cream

FlatcapnWhippet · 24/08/2015 10:41

Just a placemarker for me.

Have a small trip planned at weekend so can't get both legs on the wagon yet.

Stupid hackers.
I had just completed my four week long persec/opsec review and had brand shiny new so completely unusable for a year software and hardware installation.

I looked such a dick having to ring around the week after...
'Ohai I have the new defsched equipment and I have a problem'
'No, no, it's not a threat and no I don't have a very important role, some bellend has hacked mnet and all the alert words have been flagged sending my peaceful work station into frenzy'
'Yes, yes I know mnet isn't an ideal fora for me to pass my working day but you don't understand.... I have four weeks of carb creep already I can't take anymore'

I'm about as popular as a poo in a paddling pool Grin

whitershadeofpale · 24/08/2015 13:03

This is perhaps the wrong place to ask this question but I was wondering how this woe looks for people who have follwed BC and BCL and got down to goal weight? Do you allow yourself slightly more carbs each day? Do you occasionally go out for a meal and just have things as they come or a pizza or something? Or do you stick to BCL all the time?

RomiiRoo · 25/08/2015 19:24

Hi whitershade
I am at goal, that is, I have a four pound buffer zone I try to stay within; it took me about 8 months to get here - and I discovered that carbs really are not my friend. I also have IBS and have found this WOE much better for reducing pain, bloating etc. so little incentive to go back and have a pizza.

I do stick quite strictly to BC in the main, though - treats are nuts, dark chocolate, carrots, beetroot - because even these make a difference to my weight, hence the buffer zone. I am having blueberries this week, which seem very sweet and a bit of an indulgence to be honest, so these are a one off. Others can tolerate more carbs, I think it is about finding what works for you.

RomiiRoo · 25/08/2015 19:25

Not sure if that makes sense - I mean, I see BCL foods as treats, rather than eating BCL now

whitershadeofpale · 25/08/2015 20:07

Thanks Romii Smile

iamaboveandBeyond · 26/08/2015 10:25

Shit day yesterday. My mum knows i'm eating hflc, so made special POTATOES cooked in the fat just for me, as everyone else has frylight. Then felt rath shit and my mood was made worse by my sister getting her 2stone SW badge when i'm still struggling with the same stone of LC. Then i ate fruit salad, then a cake. Then i got home and ate a huge bar of chocolate.

So having already had a shit day this week, i feel extra well, shit. I know lc works, i know why it works and that it is good for me. But with no activity to help, everything is so bloody hard and i hjust want to cry :(

iamaboveandBeyond · 26/08/2015 10:26

(I also have ibs and my stomach is so much better on lc)

BIWI · 26/08/2015 16:21

Sorry, iamaboveandBeyond Sad

It's shit when people try and sabotage your best efforts - especially when you know it's deliberate.

But it's something that we have to try and contain - and not help their efforts by adding to it ourselves!!!

But, as they say, tomorrow is another day.

Have some Flowers and some low carb Cake - and a good measure of Wine to go with it!

Hope you're feeling better tomorrow.

Hi Beyond,
I think, though I may be wrong, that weight lost through plans like slimming world is harder to keep off, whereas low carbing, you are losing the weight in a sustainable way and if you stick to a LC way of eating, it will stay off.

Key being - stick to a low carb way of eating! Families can be guaranteed to get the stress eating going (believe me, I know) but what other feel good treats can you turn to (bubble bath; favourite TV show; or post on hereGrin)?

The other thing is maybe log your food on here - I have had loooooooong stalls and tweaking a little has helped break it.

iamaboveandBeyond · 26/08/2015 20:02

Thanks both :)

I will koko, today is another day n'all

QuiteLikely5 · 26/08/2015 20:54

I've been low carbing since Monday and today I'm in ketosis (sic?) so if I stick to low carbing as a way of eating can I still but supermarket jars of say loyd grossman chilli and tomato sauce? As long as everything is under 5g per 100g

Or do I need to start cooking from scratch for my sauces?

I do love the veg, salad & meat but I'm not one for having my food dry, similarly I have three DC and work so I don't have the time to cook sauces up each night.

Any tips/advice/guidance or shop bought sauce recommendations would be much appreciated

Also how long until I can see a difference on the scales roughly?

Thank you if you got through that! Smile

BIWI · 26/08/2015 22:48

Quite - it depends how much of that you're going to eat yourself - if you're using the jar to make a sauce to share with four people, then your carbs are going to be negligible.

You don't have to have your food dry at all - remember, you can use cream and butter for a start!

However, having said all of this, cooking from scratch is always better because you can control what ingredients you're using. Just look at the ingredients listed on pre-prepared foods and you'll find that the vast majority of them use a lot of sugar, as well as all manner of ingredients (some artificial) that you simply wouldn't use if you were making the sauce yourself.

And one of the rules of Bootcamp is to avoid artificial ingredients, so you need to be vigilant about this.

In terms of seeing a difference on the scales - it's impossible to say as everyone is different! It also depends on how much you have to lose. However, you can expect to see a significant loss in weeks 1 and 2.

I've had a bit of a possible lightbulb moment. I wrote a while back that iwas called into the gp as my cholesterol is up, and then yesterday that i'm still struggling to lose the same bit of weight. Add to that nail problems and hair loss that i'd attributed to psoriasis, a fat puffy face, constipation deprssion and pain that can all be blamed on other existing conditions, an autoimmune condition already and the rather blatent clue that my dad and his sister have hypothyroid, and what do you get...

I've only just got my official EDS diagnosis though, so wary of speaking to the doctor without definitely looking like a hypochondriac. Have bloods due tomorrow so might just casually ask the phleb when i last had thyroid checked

RomiiRoo · 27/08/2015 13:41

Beyond, I have just had to look up EDS - it does not sound much fun at all. But I honestly wouldn't worry about asking to have your thyroid checked - that is what your Dr is there for! I got mine checked (fatigue and hair loss) but it was fine; you are listing more symptoms and family connections.

Quite, I tend to make things from scratch now (I work FT with DC) because DS is on a no sugar, low carb diet as well (and dairy free) and I have become really aware of how much sugar is in everything. You can buy herb or spice mixes or fresh herbs and add tomatoes (watch carb count), coconut milk or similar, depending what you are making.

To be honest, I have found it really good to shift me away from relying on staples and varying what DC eat. A challenge at first, yes, but worth exploring. Making simple sauces from scratch honestly is cheaper and not really that time consuming and you don't get all the additives.

RomiiRoo · 27/08/2015 13:42

Maybe even just one new home made sauce a week and you will soon have a new repertoireSmile

whitershadeofpale · 27/08/2015 16:23

We've not got much in today so I made a tomato soup for lunch . I know it's not perfect but I think ok. If anyone could advise it would be great.

A tin of tomatoes (3g per tin)
2 spring onions
A bit of chicken stock made with 1 cube
Butter
Dash of garlic oil
Basil
Double cream

I then topped with a few Parmesan shavings and some chilli sauce (carb free one).

This made enough for 2. Do we think that's ok?

BIWI · 27/08/2015 17:16

That looks lovely!
