Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in! (And ongoing chat thread)

Morning all!

Here, for the last time this Bootcamp is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hopefully the scales will be kind to you for our last weigh-in!

For those of you that are still here - even you lurking at the back! - it would be great to hear how much you've lost this Bootcamp.

And also, we'll keep this thread going for chat - when it fills up I'll start another general low carb chat thread.

Phew - really relieved that after two (maybe 3?) weeks of not weighing, it wasn't actually a disaster when I stepped on the scales this morning. I am actually 1lb down compared to my lowest bootcamp weigh in, which I entirely put down to being pretty good last week, bordering on saintly over the weekend and yesterday - and drinking LOADS of water. Am now at 12st 6 (started the year at 14st) and am wondering if it's possible to get to 12st (or less??) by 29th Aug when we go on holiday?

I am hoping that today's positive weigh in will inspire me to stay on the wagon, instead of inspiring me to treat myself which leads to ruin!

Food today is all a bit unplanned. Had coyo and ff greek with berries for breakfast, will go to M&S at lunch and see what LCHF options I can find, and will do a fridge scavenge for dinner (dh is going to get fish and chips and I am definitely not succumbing to that!).

Great news Lex on your dropping a dress size - I am really hoping I might be able to entertain the notion of a size 12 by the end of the year, if I manage to lose another stone, or ideally stone and a half, but I think I will need to work pretty hard to get there! Have bought a fair few new size 14s which is definitely progress, given that a lot of my size 16s were tight at the start of the year!

KOKO everyone!

miffy49 · 11/08/2015 13:17

Lictionary I have to buy/cook a certain amount of low fat stuff as DH and DS1 are doing Slimming World (with little success I might add!) I just add to mine to bring the fat percentage of the meal up. I use mayo with various additions such as lemon & black pepper or mustard to make a dip or sometimes Boursin diluted into a dip with sour cream or mayo. If its a veg meal rather than a salad I slap a dollop of butter on my veg or do myself a creamy sauce. Its easy enough to work round it when you get going.

lisbapalea · 11/08/2015 13:52

Just had a weird but hopefully bootcamp friendly lunch from M&S - tub of marinated antipasti vegetables (mainly courgettes and mushrooms, with a couple of pieces of yellow and red pepper), plus two fun-size pieces of cheese.

Think my colleagues think I am a bit of a freak when they see my lunches....

LexLoofah · 11/08/2015 15:59

lisba thanks, i am not a size 12 all over yet, still 14 for jeans (finally found some in good old M&S as need short version) but 12 for dresses, sure you will be in a 12 by end of the year - I was a 16 at start of Jan BC. Your lunch sounds yummy, I had the marinated calamari rings from M&S, lovely and dare I say nicer than the breaded ones

lictionary welcome, having a meal plan is definitely key, I have been so disorganised about meals since moving last month, today is the first day I actually have a few days worth of proper meals planned and shopped for and feel so much more prepared and less likely to slip up and have something unplanned and off plan.

We are having cheesy leeks, green beans and salmon for tea

lisbapalea · 11/08/2015 20:07

That sounds lovely lex.

I have just had a cheese and mushroom omelette, with salad leaves dressed in an oily vinaigrette. I also had half a pack of pork scratchings when I got in from work as I was so hungry!

readyforno2 · 11/08/2015 21:56

I bought a spiralizer at the foodie festival on Friday. It's fantastic! No more £1 a pot courgetti for me Grin

Beccus · 12/08/2015 13:25

oooh, which one, ready? I want a small one that is easy to clean (preferably dishwasher safe)

LexLoofah · 12/08/2015 20:20

skipped break today as not v hungry, just had tea with milk and one with almond milk - finally getting a taste for this

meatzza for lunch and BBQd courgettes & chicken drumsticks (skin on) for tea - is there anything better than hot, crispy smoky chicken with mayo? I think not

5 strawberries and cream afterwards

Patapouf · 12/08/2015 20:50

My weight has been swinging about since BC ended, some days I'm up 3 lbs, others I'll be down 1-2 from my finishing weight. I do want to lose another stone before the next BC so maybe I need to do uberBC to kickstart weight loss again.

B: coyo
L: swede mash & BF sausages
D: duck breast, broccoli and celeriac gratin.

Lictionary · 12/08/2015 22:17

Just to say I'm meandering along, DH thoroughly enjoyed the eggs and bacon this morning. I am still finding mid afternoon tough, took a salad with dressing for lunch today and it was not enough!

Also - we are going out tomorrow for a pre booked Chinese meal, what's the least damage option?

Thank you

BIWI · 12/08/2015 23:04

If you're hungry between meals, then it's a sign you're not eating enough fat or protein.

What did you have in your salad?

Chinese is tough (although Thai is harder!) I'd look out for stuff like lettuce wraps, but avoid the hoisin sauce if you can.

Obviously no rice or noodles! Try and go for something like stir-fried celery and waterchestnuts, or stir-fried bean sprouts with your main dish.

Beccus, I'd love to tell you but I was really pissed (free gin Wine) and must have written down the website wrong. It's a multi grater thing that attaches on to a cylinder thing. I've chucked out all the packaging but I'll upload a photo tomorrow. It's dishwasher safe too.

lisbapalea · 13/08/2015 11:18

Didn't log on yesterday so here's the food:

B - berries with extra thick double cream (had run out of yogurt!)
L - celery sticks with baba ganoush, plus a boiled egg and half an avocado with some smoked salmon
D - spicy sausage 'pasta' sauce with bacon, mushrooms, shallots, garlic, red wine and passata; added a dollop of philadelphia to make it creamy. I had mine served on some kale and cauliflower

Today:
B - berries with ff yog
L - salad with mozzarella, avocado, radish, cucumber, a tsp of pesto slackened with some olive oil to make a dressing, and leaves
D - will be salmon wrapped in parma ham and baked in the oven, with some roasted kale and broccoli. Prob make a lemon mayonnaise to go with it.

Have already had a small handful of almonds - think I should bulk up my breakfast a bit more so I don't feel hungry in the mid morning, but I also blame my office's arctic air conditioning - being cold always makes me feel hungry!!

LondonBetti · 14/08/2015 10:51

So have ubercamped since Monday and whooshed down 4lbs this morning which is brilliant after sts for 5 weeks. Defo worth considering if you've stalled!

Will keep it up for another few days and then restart bootcamp.

lisbapalea · 14/08/2015 14:26

Food plan for today:
B - ff yog with berries and some unsweetened dessicated coconut
L - cooked chicken with a green mango salad, some berries
D - will be M&S spanish meatballs with aioli and patatas bravas (I will donate those to dh), stuffed mushrooms and salad

iamaboveandBeyond · 14/08/2015 15:08

I had (well, am eating now) moussaka today, having been meaning to since January Grin

LexLoofah · 14/08/2015 21:36

london well done woohoo!

use 'em ups lunch of olives, smoked salmon, cheese with butter & marmite, cucumber

Beef stroganoff for dinner was lovely although sour cream seems highish at 11g carbs per 100g, could have used cream perhaps? Broccoli, forgot to add butter but used dripping for frying

Am hungry now which is most unusual, more cheese & butter perhaps?

One more strict day tomorrow and then brakes off for holiday will no doubt be a reverse whoosh for me but hey, will get back on when we return

StuntNun · 15/08/2015 09:49

Fried pork belly and halloumi for breakfast. It was seriously yummy. I put the pork belly slices in the slow cooker with some water for four hours so they're lovely and tender.

readyforno2 · 15/08/2015 10:10

I made crustless quiche for the first time yesterday. They're delicious. Will be brilliant for lunches.
I just put some courgette, mushrooms and shallots in them. Anyone got any other "filling" ideas?

miffy49 · 15/08/2015 12:55

Lex have you accidentally picked up a sour cream dressing? I had a panic attack as I like sour cream. Mine says 3.5g per 100ml or 1.1g per 2tbs. I got mine from Sainsburys.

Stunt you just answered my question! I was going to ask how long you give belly slices in the slow cooker.Grin I've run out of belly joints in the freezer and fancied trying your method with the slices. I'm not very comfortable with the slow cooker as yet. I had a very old one that was useless and threw it out but then I inherited one when DH gave up his SW consultancy. He used to use it for taster nights but its never really been used for more than keeping stuff hot. I did do a beef pot roast last week which was impressively tender. It was useful as I'm not good in a morning so I left it all prepared in the fridge and DH just put the pot into the cooker and flicked the switch before he went to work. Bingo! one stress-free Sunday lunch. Looks like being my new favourite toy.Smile

miffy49 · 15/08/2015 13:04

Ready I do a similar version that goes down well with the family. Chop/mash a pack of corned beef with some finely chopped shallots. (I cheat and use the processor). Press it into the base of a buttered dish. Beat 4 eggs with a dash of salt and pepper, a carton of ricotta and 1tbs mustard and pour over eggs. Bake at 180C for around 35-40 mins. Check it doesn't go too brown on top. Its nicer when its just nicely set. Let it cool and serve just warm with some salad. Any left overs make a nice snack meal.

LexLoofah · 15/08/2015 19:21

miffy embarrassed but relieved to rport I misread the label, 11g is sat fat, carbs are 3g, phew!

dear god that cornedbeef flan sounds good and downright ingenious

Lictionary · 15/08/2015 19:56

I'm struggling a bit I have to say but inspired by the ideas above. Simply put after seven years of meal planning I am utterly disengaged from eating. I hate sitting down every Saturday night to do the food order while DH impatiently waits for me. I have to cook for one person who won't eat fish, two who don't eat dairy/soya and now me who doesn't eat carbs.

It's all a bit stressful. Spent hours poring over Internet recipes on pinterest but they've just over confused me!

readyforno2 · 15/08/2015 23:58

Wow. Might, that sounds delicious, what a brilliant idea. The dc love corned beef. Will have to give it a go. Thanks!

readyforno2 · 15/08/2015 23:59

Confused Miffy not might.. Bloody autocorrect
