Welcome everyone!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness that the lovely Sayra creates and cares for. Come and confess all.

If you prefer, you can use the individual Weight Tracker, provided by MNHQ, which will open (I hope) tomorrow morning.

Please make sure that you know the rules, and that you know about the allowed veg - look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - and think about printing them off so that you have them to hand

If you have any questions, obviously you can ask them here, but there's also a specific questions thread because the chat threads can move so quickly that questions can get missed.

Unfortunately I'm working pretty full on for the next three days, so won't be around very much - I'll try and check in as much as I can, but in reality I'm not going to be around very much until Thursday - apologies in advance.

Very good luck to you all

I made roast pork last night with stuffing and roast potatoes for everyone else and just a huge pile of broccoli and the smallest bit of proper gravy for me. God it was so hard not to eat that stuffing I confess to eating the tiniest mouthful but the upside was that I got to eat most of the crackling. Grin

ceres · 14/05/2015 07:40

Good morning everyone!

Just weighed myself and I have lost 3 lbs.

Eating going well, keeping it simple this week - eggs for breakfast, salad with meat/fish for lunch and meat/ fish with salad or veg for dinner. I have been using oily dressings and using cream and cheese to up the fat intake with salad and veg.

So, all good. Except the last two nights I have woken with severe anxiety/panic attack. This has come out of nowhere, I have had anxiety and panic attacks before but not for years. Could this be related to going low carb? has anyone else experienced this?

I am hoping it is just down to adjusting to low carb and that it will pass. I have done low carb before and not had this, it's a way of eating that suits me well so I want to stick with it.

lavenderhoney · 14/05/2015 08:05

Digger, glad your ds is better Flowers

I'm not tired at night but slightly less irritable and now I feel exhausted:( I managed most of the water I'm supposed to drink. I'm going out for dinner on sat so I can avoid alcohol as I'm driving. I hope there's a low carb option.
I'm going to someone's house for dinner and I'm a bit nervous to ring up and say low carb... But being faced with a bowl of pasta or something - I won't be able to eat it!

Dumdedumdedum · 14/05/2015 08:07

I agree with Maryz:

"I'm (as usual) doing ok food wise; I'm sticking to it, not feeling hungry at all.

I've come to the conclusion that my over-eating isn't hunger, it's habit. And the sugar" wine "cravings are grim. I really, really want something sweet."winey

Dumdedumdedum · 14/05/2015 08:08

Oops, not a raving wine addict, I only get yearnings in the early evening (habit)! Promise, guv!

StuntNun · 14/05/2015 08:08

I'm tucking in to a bowl of raspberries, double cream and homemade Greek yoghurt and trying to remember what I used to eat prior to going low carb in 2013. I've been racking my brain and I honestly can't remember! Whatever it was, probably toast, it can't have been anywhere near as delicious.

cathyandclaire · 14/05/2015 08:15

Complete agree Maryz and Dum with the wine and sugar habit Blush
pre Bootcamp I'd got the sugar limited to 85% chocolate...but lots of it and lots of wine too
Now I'm not buying it in.

Something ver ver strange happened this morning, I didn't fancy a coffee and had water instead Shock that is UNPRECEDENTED!
Nothing in so will cobble together stuff from the fridge today, eggs and whatever. Thai green curry tonight ( the paste doesn't look too carby)

Well done on losses and glad to hear your DS is better Diggers

Kleptronic · 14/05/2015 09:00

I've lost 2lb! After a 2 week stall! Made up I am Grin NOBODY say it's water!

TheCowThatLaughs · 14/05/2015 09:07

I had a bit of a carb/sugar craving last night so had 3 teaspoons of almond butter. I know it's not allowed but could have been so much worse! This morning have lost 1/2 lb since yesterday Smile

CrabbyTheCrabster · 14/05/2015 09:15

Glad to hear your DS is recovering Digger.

Happy Birthday for yesterday Lisba. Flowers

Lavender if yo don't mention it to your host, I can guarantee that the meal won't be low carb! Why not ring her and ask what the menu is? I bet she'd rather make somthing that you can eat and enjoy than have you picking round carby stuff on the plate.

ceres sorry to hear that. I think that when we cut out something that our body is very used to, it's a bit of a shock to it and that might manifest as short term anxiety. I've read some stuff about wheat being 'addictive' due to
components of it breaching the gut wall and acting almost like opiates. I don't know how true that is (have read the opinion but not the science) but certainly my first week off wheat when I've been being a carby twat for a while, I feel pretty rough.

Dumde I also get white wine cravings in the late afternoon/early evening, especially when I'm hungry. I know it's sugar related, and after I've eaten I'm fine. Hard to resist though. This week I've been having a kefir smoothie with berries (I'm doing BC light) at around 5pm and it's made a massive difference to my grumpiness and wine craving.

Tetley650 · 14/05/2015 09:52

Really struggling with my head today. Since Monday I have put on 9lbs yes 9lbs. First I thought it was the scales- new scales and exactly the same!! So actually down £s and up lbs!! I have stuck to the plan and am now despondent. Think I will up the veg even more today to see if this can start pushing things through. It's so unfair...

CrabbyTheCrabster · 14/05/2015 10:07

Tetley can you list out exactly what you've eaten and drunk since Monday?

Tetley650 · 14/05/2015 10:48

Crabby
Breakfasts
Mon and Tues I black farmer sausage, 2 rashers streaky bacon 1 small egg mushrooms in coconut oil
Weds 3 small eggs scrambled in butter and the cream that would have gone in my coffee and 2 rashers of streaky bacon
Lunches
Mon - aubergine fried in coconut milk and butter with 2 tablespoons tomato and basil sauce
Tues - pate and lots of lettuce
Weds - prawns, small piece of Brie, 1/2 an avocado, mayonnaise and salad, awfully posh pork scratchings as croutons
Dinners
Mon - sea bass, mayonnaise, spinach and rocket salad
Tues - Pork belly rib and spinach salad
Weds- 2 coyo yoghurts, 1/2 small swede mashed with lots of butter.
I have religiously drunk 3 litres of water.
This morning breakfast was a ff total yoghurt with a little cream - which I couldn't finish at 7 am.
Determined not to fall off the wagon!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 14/05/2015 10:54

Evening losers! (Well, my evening)

D tonight was Aussie snapper, pan fried in butter with dill and basil. Yum! With green bean chips (which I fear are not ideal in the first 2 w but they were very nice) and veg, broccoli and a few carrots rolled in butter. With tartare sauce (homemade).

Had bad carb cravings this afternoon but managed to overcome them and NOT eat anything bad - proud of myself. It's a little step but a big one too, iyswim.

Not enough water yet today, but there's still time...

mummyto3under4 · 14/05/2015 11:52

BIWI noted ill try make sure I'm eating less processed meats in main meals. But what about snacking can I snack on theses meats like salami cocktail sausages etc

So proud of myself being stressed by three tiny kids ive not been broken enough have chocolate or any rubbish foods even entering shops I don't even go down the naughty isles :-) feeling strong

Apologies for all the typos the predictive text on the tablet keeps taking over

trashcanjunkie · 14/05/2015 12:10

Afternoon ladies. tetley I know how disheartening that can be. I gained half a stone when I started bc. I've piddle do about losing very very slowly and have come to the realisation I cannot have dairy. Since ditching, the weight is now coming off in a much more expected way. It may not be dairy for you, but it's worth thinking about. Or possibly you have a very low tolerance for carbs in veg form. To be honest I can't really see much wrong with your food, except perhaps your fat intake/ ratios.... But I'm not brilliant at working those out. Someone will be along shortly with better knowledge. Try not to despair, massive well done for sticking with the plan, that is no small thing! It will get there in the end. I know of no instance where bc has actually failed a person, only the other way round. So the fact you're hanging in there will pay off in the end. Have a little look at the uber camp menus. See if you could hack one of them for three days maybe, and then reasses. Try and get into the scientific mindset. Taking emotion out of the equation sometimes helps too.

Final considerations - are you stressed? Have you been sleeping enough? Are you caffeine sensitive?

Keep posting, keep asking, you're doing brilliantly!

shebedee · 14/05/2015 12:44

Breakfast was 2 rashers with a tomato and an egg cooked in coconut oil and butter. I've had a hard boiled egg topped with mayo as a snack and have had 3 coffees (half caff) with a teaspoon of coconut oil and butter added. I'm feeling really hungry right now even though I've had much more fat than I usually do.
I'm just now going to make a tuna salad for lunch with oily dressing and parmesan and will have chicken thighs baked with Moroccan spices with fried cauliflower rice later this evening. Do you think that's enough fat?

In the past I've eaten mini peperami or babybel when I feel a hunger pang but wonder if that would mean I'd be eating too much cheese and processed meats.

FresherThanYou · 14/05/2015 12:58

Hi Smile I'm late but i've added myself. Been lurking for sometime, I did the Neris & India diet a few years ago and failed so i'm hoping being on MN will help my motivation. 234lbs now Shock week 2 of c25k also
B: Protein shake & coconut oil (no sweetners!)
L: Celeriac dauphinoise

nobodyknowswheremyjonnyhasgone · 14/05/2015 13:27

I don't think I'm going to be able to keep up with the thread but determined to try and log my meals and progress once a day. Sorry if I seem too self absorbed (I'm not in RL!)

Sounds like everyone's doing well. I had a rather challenging LC day yesterday. Accompanied DC1 on school trip and forgot my lunch! Arrived back at school and had to go straight to A&E because DC2 (6) had broken his arm in a freak fall during afternoon play (outs self). Didn't get back home til 7.30 with a very traumatised Dc2 who was not amenable to me cooking a proper meal. Still managed not to dive into the carbs all day but only ate crap processed meat and cheese, not a single vegetable and only 2 small bottles of water all day. By the time DC2 was settled all I could face was Greek yog and bed.

Today

B: none. DC2 still traumatised but insisting on going to school made for an unrelaxing morning, then needed to go straight out.
L: sausages, poached eggs, mushrooms fried in butter with Boursin.
D: spicy chicken with peppers and a few thin slices of onion.

Sausages not ideal after yesterday's processed meat fest but waiting for delivery of new freezer and they needed eating before anything else.

Biggest test now, have to make banana bread and carrot cakes for lovely parents in law's visit. FIL recently had a bad fall so want to make his faves. They both deserve to be spoilt but baking seems to be a special kind of hell.

My new mantra is The Whole Ten Weeks. Have good days fellow losers.

nobodyknowswheremyjonnyhasgone · 14/05/2015 13:28

The peppers will be green (fearful of a stick heading my way).

TheHappyCamper · 14/05/2015 13:40

Hello on Day 4 Boot Campers. Flowers to everyone who is finding things tough for whatever reason - DC injuries & hospital visits, non-sleeping DC, etc. Remember, tomorrow is another day.

Still going ok here, 2lbs down this week and it's staying off, so yey! I only want to lose maybe another 2-3 lbs and then will attempt maintenance (which is probably harder!).

Tetley a couple of questions if you wish. How much weight have you got to lose? It's definitely harder the closer to goal you are. Also, have you dieted a lot before? I think BIWI/Sayra said on the inbetween BC that if you have done lots of different diets your body sort of goes into a "watch and wait" mode and it's only when you stick to it that it finally believes it can let the fat go.

I find I stalled with too much dairy (yoghurt/cream mainly) and also nuts/ground almonds. I am snacking on babybel if needed but haven't really needed snacks since upping the fat in my 3 meals. I am missing my berries and nuts a lot and can't wait for the first 2 weeks to be done!

Dumdedumdedum · 14/05/2015 14:19

nobodyknows Do you mind if I pinch your mantra, please? Grin

It is the start of the week-end here in the sandpit and coming up to what is lovingly known by Western ex-pats as "wine-o'clock". Instead of anticipating my first lovely sip of a glass of chilled white, I am meekly sipping green tea. With mint, so that's all right.
