Kondo

LexLoofah · 09/03/2015 20:36

notso thanks, what is the dress code is it one of those confounded casual elegant type things? Get thee to the MN style & beauty pages!

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 09/03/2015 20:39

Even the fledglings over on the fly lady fledgling threads recognised that Kondo is great for decluttering and many are using her to declutter alongside the flying for routine stuff. The only thing to remember is that she appears not to have kids/house on 3 plus levels etc kinda thing where duplicates can be useful. Good luck with all the prepping MrsS and may I suggest a master list in random order to focus the mind and can be used to create the smaller lists of the day to day/ordered stuff.

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 09/03/2015 20:43

romey yes I am finding the connection to stress very apparent, also there is a connection with fibro flare ups but i am not sure which is triggering which atm.

sassandfaff · 09/03/2015 20:54

bitchy romey been reading your allergy talk, but not really knowledgeable. I had read something a few weeks ago about herbs and spices, but couldn't remember where.

I've found it now. Sorry if it's not helpful or you already know it.

paleo mum

imustbepatient · 09/03/2015 21:00

Mrss, to add to bitchy's comment about the lists, if you haven't already perhaps try making a list of the key things you need to do. It is so satisfying crossing off the first one and makes you feel like you have got things underway. For me everything then feels more manageable.

Best of luck, really hope the dream house becomes yours.

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 09/03/2015 21:03

That's interesting sass i knew about the nightshade family as have seen it connected to fibro pain flare ups so it doesn't surprise me with the associated spices. Thank you for linking though as there is a spice that I would use occassionally that can be easily avoided for now.

mootime · 09/03/2015 21:05

Hi there,
I've had that book on my kindle for a while meaning to read it and deal with the house, but I just feel like I need more time to get stuck in.

I think I need someone to give me a kick. I don't understand why I can't do this better. Every day I start and plan to be really good. But every day I end up eating far too much. I never eat anything off plan as such, but I can't seem to cut the dairy back out having managed to be dairy free for a year.
And I'm starting to get bored of the food and the fact that my weight is just bouncing around between 12 stone and 11,7. I end up binging on things like nuts and cheese and dark chocolate as I convince myself that it's allowed..
I'm super tired and massively stressed which doesn't help but I just wish I could do this. I so want to be slim, and look and feel more attractive and healthier.
Anyway, I'm just venting really.

Romeyroo · 09/03/2015 21:29

Hi there,

Yes, nightshades were on my list of triggers when I was severely stressed, and from habit, don't tend to use these. I tend to use the ones which are categorised as safe here, which is interesting. Thanks, I am bookmarking that link.
I did used to have a really good list of what would cross-react with what but I haven't needed to consult it in a while - I will have a look and see if I can find it tomorrow (struggling to stay awake right now!)

I find my non-sugar self is more naturally tired; it is like when I gave up caffeine. Right now, I have cut caffeine for anxiety and wow, I think my brain stops about 8.45. Not sure if I am more productive in my waking hours though to make up for there being less of them.

Romeyroo · 09/03/2015 21:31

Sorry my allergy comments were for bitchy and sass

Mrsstevejones · 09/03/2015 21:38

Thanks for all the advice peeps, have complied a master list, thats whats making me want to cry. Actually i have scrubbed off all the things that would make it a show home and made it a more realistic list. I have also done a list of things that must be done for the details and pics to be done.

I have gotten the storage bags out of the loft to vac pack away all the clothes and excess sheets etc. I have done a first coat on the patch work bits on the wall. Hubby filled some of the cracks and holes, so i can get the paint tom.

I have to remember rarely do you find a house that is perfect, the one we love has a great kitchen, bathrooms and room layouts but when you look closely you can see its lived in and there are bits that need doing.

We are going to the hotel and i am heading to the hotel first before DH finishes work, and have a swim and a wallow in the bath for an hr or so until he gets there - bliss.

Had a good chat with hubby and we will just have to wait and see, what will be, will be! Feeling less stressed now, thanks everyone. No cake left so jumping back on wagon. I have had my firework moment and now feel slightly less unhinged!

trashcanjunkie · 09/03/2015 22:33

Moo try not to stress about it. Back to basics here, list out what you have been eating on here every day for the next few days. Get rid of the nuts, choc, and cheese if you keep troughing it. If others require cheese then just buy enough for them, or a type you won't want, and make sure you're drinking enough water. Feel utterly free to write your stress here. Whilst the thread is bc, we have recognised how important it is to get our shit out here, as it's so connected - food and emotion. Sometimes writing it down becomes the coping mechanism we turn to instead of emotional hunger.

And to anybody else out there who's on a longer journey, there are those of us who have been going for a year now, and have supported each other relentlessly through that time, and fully intend to continue to the elusive eleven stone Grin

Food here today -B ham and cheese rolled up with mayo x 3
L tiny portion of lamb and mushroom curry
D swede and celeriac mash with sautéed leeks, cauliflower and roast chicken.

Three litres water and two cups tea

Made fucking sachertorte to show someone how to tonight. And have taste au citron gunk waiting in bloody fridge to do tomorrow..... Hmm

Nearly bloody killed me.

Ooh, latest international student is an actual rasta!!!! Although she seems very un rasta-ie..... She's dutch, but originally from Surinam. A place I confess to never having heard of till yesterday.... Blush but apparently Rastafarianism is pretty common there. It seems to translate to her not eating any meat or processed foods, or gluten -but at home she eats organic, and sadly here my budget doesn't stretch....

And she has never ever smoked a spliff. Even though she's a rasta, and living in holland......

She's 45 and doesn't look a day over twenty.

MrsKoala · 09/03/2015 23:03

Just popping on quickly to say had a lovely dinner of pork shoulder tonight. did this recipe .

LexLoofah · 10/03/2015 00:46

Just put the DCs to bed, have you ever noticed how many childrens books feature food/carbs? At random tonight they picked the gingerbread man, the magic porridge pot and hansel and gretel even DSs reading book for school is about fish and chips ! Gah

My curry dinner smells lovely, will be tucking in soon added a huge slab of butter to the cauli rice at the end and it has all been absorbed mmm

mootime · 10/03/2015 06:46

Thanks Trash.
I'll do that if that's ok. I'll list what I'm eating and maybe it'll get me back on track.
So far I've had a cup of tea. I'm going to actually eat breakfast today which I've not done for a while and I'm not sure that helps. I don't eat until quite late and then it's like the floodgates open.
Another dreadful nights sleep here, DH woke me at 11:45 coming in. DD at 2, then again at 4 when she wet the bed then ds awake for the day at 5. It's going to be a long one... So fingers crossed I can get back on plan.

BIWI · 10/03/2015 07:09

mootime - don't stress yourself out about it too much! Lack of sleep won't be helping you at all. Be kind to yourself.

However, being kind to yourself doesn't mean stuffing your face Grin

As trashcan says, get rid of the nuts/cheese/chocolate - if you don't have them then you can't be tempted.

Could you do something else as a distraction, like going for a walk?

OP posts:
mootime · 10/03/2015 07:31

Thanks BIWI. The e problem is that I work for myself (in my kitchen...) in limited hours and am currently swamped with work so have no time to do anything other than work and then look after the kids.

ChesterDrawers · 10/03/2015 07:51

Back on track and back losing again, granted its the same lb I've been faffing about with for the last few weeks but still, the trend is kind of my friend.

Not enough fat yesterday so trying to make amends today. A bit worried I'm over-proteining too, and am sure there's too much dairy going on again. So hard to get it right:

Today:

B: three ricotta bites, one Black Farmer sausage
L: Roast beef, salad leaves, hm mayo, avocado, little pot of clotted cream
D: salmon wrapped in parma ham, cauli mash with butter, mushrooms with boursin

Mrsstevejones · 10/03/2015 08:12

Morning all, feeling much better after a good nights sleep. Pity party over.
Looking forwards to the challenge now and who needs sleep anyway!

Today may be a bit of a right off as birthday meal but started the day with a BPC and will make mindful choices at dinner and swerve pudding mainly as i dont want carbs to make me feel hungry again. 100% back on the wagon weds morning.

Off swimming with the kids in a mo.

Thank you for all your support woe and otherwise, feeling much stronger today, i can bloody do this and i wont burden my hubby lol!!!

Good luck everyone and KOKO.

Mrsstevejones · 10/03/2015 08:16

Hi Trashcan, i have international students as well but mine are all 12-18yrs usually and stay for 1 -4 weeks. I love it, i learn so much about other people and countries. Is yours a long term or short term placement? If you dont mind me asking. We were thinking of having a longer term one as they become much more a part of your family but not sure. Sorry totally derails thread. Rasta sounds interesting, not something i know anything about.

imustbepatient · 10/03/2015 08:25

Have a terrific birthday celebration mrss!

mootime · 10/03/2015 08:44

Have a lovely birthday MrsS.

So breakfast has been a 2 egg omelette and a coffee with almond milk and coconut oil (my version of a BPC!) Am still hungry but going to have some water and see if it abates.

nowitsenough · 10/03/2015 08:56

Happy birthday Smile

Yesterday I had bacon and eggs for breakfast, hm veg soup and some left over mashed swede fried in butter and for dinner chicken curry with celeriac chips. I had a snack of 2 extra slices of bacon and a spoon of coleslaw as I was hungry late afternoon.

Gcalgske · 10/03/2015 09:06

Yesterday had flax / coconut mix with a single strawberry (15g) finely chopped through, pint of water.
Two boiled eggs and a small half avocado at lunch with a zero carb fruity tea.
Dinner was gammon steak with swede chips.
Had a couple of hm 80% choc truffles and a bag of pork scratchings before bed. Felt bad for snacking Blush didn't eat enough fat through the day. Will try harder with the fat today.

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 10/03/2015 09:33

Hope you have a lovely time MrsS

Still on the search for drinkable coffee. I need the caffine boost to get me moving in the mornings as I am right in the middle of I don't want to go to school battles with ds. Blooming school refusing is exhausting. Mostly managed to get him to school the last couple of weeks but apparently I don't care and I am evil Hmm there is nothing wrong with him except he is having supply teachers atm (lovely supply teachers who he has previously) but apparently that means school is wrong Hmm Hence caffine is needed.

Had to resort to ibuprofen last night as had a bit of an accident in training and need to reduce some swelling. Hmm RICE is the order of the day atm and keeping its usage to the minimum.

Well done to all the losers, keep going and hang on in there to all having wobbles. Do come talk if you are struggling.
