Thanks. I'll pop into the library tomo. DS2 is only 6mo. IS meat recommended before 8mo? Something in the back of my mind is saying no. I'll google it.

I've bought him a butternut squash. I thought i would steam some squash fingers for him to munch on.

He got a bit of a lump of parsnip in his puree the other day and he puked for England so i am a bit worried. (ds1 has the most sensitive gag reflex and terrifyingly almost choked 3 times when he was a baby)

Erm, I am probably going abroad for a long weekend and am going to need to take food supplies with me. No fridge, no language skills or time to go shopping. I am going to need some help and advice. No cheese/dairy and No wheat. Any ideas what will survive heat? Don't have to worry too much about restrictions I think it is within the eurozone but then again I have no looked into it. I am actually dreading the food aspect of this trip. Mind you I am struggling with ideas for no dairy/wheat anyway. Don't eat stews or anything with gravy as I don't like the texture and running out of ideas for a nice dinner. I am stuck in an egg rutt which is why the trip is worrying me. Advice and ideas pretty pretty please

My lg was a refluxer too and I think the strong gag reflex is common in them. It's scary but I got tonnes of advice from the BLW group in Facebook, what I was told is that gagging is natural and part of baby learning what they can and can't cope with. As you never put anything in their mouth it'll take them a little time to figure out what's managable and cope with different textures but it's worth it. You just have to watch them carefully (but the advantage is you can watch whilst eating your own food whilst it's still hit, like an actual person!) to see if they are in real bother. Butternut is a good one as it goes really quite soft so should be ok as a start. X

Sorry to dump and run earlier was still dealing with ds, yes he is going to be knackered tomo it's a long story i forgot to give him his sleep med Blush

I actually have sympathy over the food prep thing. Ds won't touch certain foods without protective gloves if they are raw, I can't abide the smell of meat cooking makes feel very sick so I literally freeze the house whilst cooking in winter. Blush It makes life harder and is actually a pita. It is very hard to get over too so I really feel for you having to do the prep but I agree that getting an ASD to change long term trains of thought is really not something you have the time or energy if it were possible atm. So you are probably sensible to just do it MrsK BIWI did make a very valid point, with what you are dealing with most people would be over whelmed, over tired and struggling. You need to cut yourself some slack. It will get easier, eventually but you need to do the best you can and give yourself credit for this.

Are your two in a buggy when you are out, can you have some snacks to nibble whilst you are out even if they end up being your meal rather than what other people consider to be a meal. I know that some of my meals a lot of people would not consider a meal, but I will acknolwedge that I don't have a problem with feeling hungry, so it is probably not that easy. However, the concept of what a meal is, is actually a society constraint. Be reckless and define your own Wink

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 16/03/2015 00:18

seriously I would have killed some one or told them where to go shove it to the point where we were non contactable in the same circumstances.

Gcalgske · 16/03/2015 01:27

I gave meat from 6 months. X

StuntNun · 16/03/2015 07:47

MrsK meat is fine from the start and as it contains iron it is very helpful as the baby's iron stores will be running low at six months. I did baby led weaning with my youngest and it was amazing to see an eight or nine-month-old chowing down on a chicken drumstick after I pureed everything for ages for my older two.

Bitchy almonds, pork scratchings and Peperamis would be my go to low carb snacks for travelling.

cymrukernow · 16/03/2015 08:00

weigh in - STS! I think I've skipped weight loss and gone straight to maintenance! I do look slimmer though, I really do!

MrsKoala · 16/03/2015 08:00

Thanks all.

I know i am just overwhelmed at the moment. I hate being ill too (not that anyone loves it of course!) and feel really sorry for myself.

I know i like this woe and it's frustrating that if i only had me to look after i would shop, cook and eat so differently.

DS went to bed at midnight and coughed all night. So we are all tired and grumpy again today.

Off to look at BLW website. Thanks again. Sorry for moaning.

Romeyroo · 16/03/2015 08:57

MrsK, no slapping necessary, more like TLC and go easy on yourself Flowers

Hi all.
I've given up weighing after the new scales disaster. (I'm apparently heavier than I was at the start..)
So after a sulk, I'm back on the wagon for the last two weeks. Been for a 40 minute walk this morning so going to try and get more excersize in every day.
Also going to try to restrict dairy.
I will be a bit slimmer by the end...

Sorry all - am embroiled in work at the moment in Moscow and haven't had time to set up the new week's chat thread. Will do it now!
