Evening all.

I'm starting this thread earlier than usual because I have to be up and out of the house by 7.30 tomorrow.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness as usual

And don't forget the Weight Tracker

I hope the God of Wooshes is looking favourably on you all!

From tomorrow I have 19 days until I fly off to Somewhere Hot, so I will be super vigilant and fighting off those pesky carbs with much vim and vigour.

Morning all. Had a disastrous evening last night and ended up just popping to the local curry house instead of the gastro pub. I think i made the best choices - i had Lamb tikka & salad to start (which dh ate half of) then Tandoori chicken and salad and a cauli bhaji. Irritatingly the frst bite of the bhaji was a big lump of potato Angry which they did not say on the menu description and must put in to bulk it out/make more money. So i picked thru it and took out 4 other chunks of spud and gave them to dh and was left with about 5 small florets of cauli :( .

Anyway, yesterday looks like this:
b- yog & berries
l - 3 egg spinach and mushroom omelette
s - chunk of cheese & 4 gherkins
d - lamb tikka, tandoori chicken, salad, cauli bhaji
2 glasses of wine and soda

Today is going to be hard. I've had 3 non consecutive hours sleep and have a poorly 2 yo and a grizzly/hungry 9 wk old. I am pushed for time and hungry in a house full of bready things. Just about to try the coconut porridge recipe.

MrsK stay strong, you CAN do this. I know exactly how you feel with difficult children and a house full of temptation. Are you able to get to the shops for some low carb comforts? If not I find The easiest things I can cook are bacon in the oven, and boil eggs even if my baby is being super clingy. Then I try to get some of those sandwich filler pots (check carb count) as I find them easy to eat quickly with no prep too. It isn't ideal and I have to catch up on my salad and veg when I get the chance, but it does stop me falling face first into rubbish!!!

BeyondPreparedForHell · 04/11/2014 09:52

Sandwich filling pots is a fab idea! Will have to get some when i do my shopping later.

MrsK, i have had about a million cauli bhajis in my life (one of my take away staples) and never has one had potato in it. I think i'd be inclined to complain, you could have had an allergy or something!! (And they might give you money off for next time Wink )

sayra mr motivator (my young horse - not his real name) is in fact, a sec d Grin !! I have another too, a most gorgeous but sadly unrideable field ornament of a sec d. And my daughter's sec a. (sadly no matter how much more I lose I'll always be too heavy for him, which is a huge shame cos he's a super fun pony and have been soooo irrationally tempted to jump on him sometimes!!)

Report
SayraT · 04/11/2014 12:58

Ha yongian I know the feeling. I've had a few Sec A's and I love them so much. I'd have to lose both my legs and maybe my arms to be able to ride them!! Welshies are just my absolute favourite breed....not as keen on Bs though, to slender and show pony for me.

Please post a picture of your Ds (and DD A), I'd love to see them. I'll find one of mine.

The pony with tall child is Crunchie, I sold him about 2 years ago now but he is doing really well with his owner.

The three together are Leo(nardo) - right hand side, Raf(ael) - bay and Chunky - grey with white face.

The other grey pony is April and she was my first pony, she is 16 now (10 in the picture) and is not always that white...in fact I think that is the only time she was that clean!

Sorry everyone else for derailing thread with pony pictures....feel free to post cat/dog/fish/pony/other pet pictures Grin

Beyond - yes i was surprised when i bit into the spud as i had never had it in the thousands of cauli bhajis i've had over the years. I wont complain as we are just staying at my parents so it's not our local and i doubt we'd go again. if i did i'd specify, NO potatoes and they'd think i was a right pain . DH had 3 poppadoms, 1 portion of rice, 3 chapatis AND my spuds. The carby bastard!

DS is making today difficult. Mum has bought him some chocolate brioche and he keeps putting them under my nose and rubbing them on my mouth saying 'share with mummy' 'mummy have some' and i am clamping my mouth shut and pretending to take a bite, but he aint no fool, he knows when mummy is faking it! He is becoming more and more furious and frustrated and my lack of sharing. Grin

Had my first ever self cooked hard boiled eggs today and they were yum. Thanks for the 'recipe'. Does anyone have a nice recipe for celeriac dauphinoise recipe? i have some black farmer sausages for dinner and fancy something garlicy and creamy with them.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 04/11/2014 16:19

I've just had leek sausages, with mine i had cauliflower and broccoli cheese (frozen cauli and broc, boiled and drained then a big dollop of cream cheese mixed in) and garlic butter spinach. Piss easy frozen meal. Was delicious :)

I have bought some linseed meal (the attempt to grind my whole flax seeds in the coffee grinder was rather unsuccessful...)
Does anyone have a favourite, recommended recipe for them?

My curry powder has sugar in it Shock. You have to bloody check everything.

Really enjoying being back on the wagon. Does anyone know of a nice herbal tea for someone who thinks herbal teas are rank? I am only drinking black coffee or water and know I will get fed up.

Umm I am guilty as this is actually the second time I've derailed a bc thread over animals - it was notsoskinnyminny's dog before!
Love love love Crunchie Sayra and your other little gang. They're such brill ponies. I know what you mean about B's though saying that, one of neighbours breeds really really fab ones and I do secretly love hers. I've never posted a pic on here before, how do I do it??

SayraT · 04/11/2014 19:16

You just type you post as normal then below it there is a bit where you can add up to three photos per post (max 6 per day).

Its under "watch this thread" you just click "choose file" then find the file wherever it is.

Crunchie was my favourite....don't tell the others!

Evening everyone.

beyond I use flax for thickening things instead of flour and for muffins in a minute. There a loads of recipes if you google MIM- the recipe I use isn't quite right so you are probably better off without it!

jimmy salted caramel green tea. Yum. Requires a trip to waitrose round these parts.

I fell off the wagon yesterday which I think is probably best not elaborated on. I've spent the best part of the last 24hrs mulling it over navel gazing as there were some definite old eating issues involved. However, yesterday is over and the week continues!

I shall not say a word about horses; it's a complete mystery to me... But here is a photo of my cat, trying to lay claim to my pillow last night!

Day 2 of no dairy and the scales are continuing to go down. I think I've found my nemesis. Gutted because I bloody love cheese and really miss it but I suppose I can't argue with the results. If anyone has any nice dairy free recipes, please share.

Today's plan:

B: eggs, butter
L: prawn, avocado and mayo salad
D: chilli and cauli rice, no kidney beans, sour cream or cheese

My appetite has all but disappeared. The last two nights I've had to force some tea down and have left loads on my plate. I'm a bit worried I'm not eating enough, but can't physically face anymore.

Report
SayraT · 05/11/2014 08:19

Hmm, yongnian I don't know then!

chester I am glad that the scales are going down. Hopefully you will be able to reintroduce dairy at some point. Maybe wait a few weeks then add one thing in at a time, try a bit of cheese and see what happens then the next week some cream but no cheese. I am no expert but maybe one type of dairy is worse for you than another.

Beyond where did you get the ground flaxseed? I've never been able to find it. I've never used it (because I can't find it) but as well as the things sarah suggested someone has a pizza recipe.

Hey wombat sorry things aren't going as planned. As you say, every day is a new day and if you need help getting on the wagon we are here Smile

Jimmy I'm not a herbal tea fan but I did try some and I liked liquorice and peppermint (I don't like just peppermint), a red berry Twinings one (sorry can't remember red name but its a whiteish box with red berries on the front) and also an Asda one, mango, ginger and lemon or something similar.

I tried and didn't like the salted caramel green tea, camomile or fennel.

Hehe, look at your cat sarah...this is my pillow! Grin

Food Today

B: Coconut porridge with berries, coffee with cream
L: Tuna melt and salad
D: Roast chicken thighs with vegetables

Last night I had a delicious concoction. Chicken, mushroom, asparagus and bacon in a creamy garlic sauce, it was orgasmic (not as orgasmic as Orgasmic Duck though Sad RIP Orgasmic Duck).

I've got a friend coming for the weekend, Friday night until Sunday afternoon and I am trying to plan ahead for food. I wondered what people thought.

Friday Night

D: Lamb Taco Bake, salad
S: Crisps and dip (vegetables for me)

Saturday

B: Bacon and eggs
L: Possibly out for lunch, possibly not LC for me
D: Salmon with a pesto crust, vegetables

Sunday

B: Bacon and eggs again or coconut porridge (me), toast/scones/something (friend)
L: ?

Lunch is my hardest for other people especially when we don't know what we are doing. So any lunch or alternative breakfast/dinner ideas much appreciated.

Good for you Chester, have a try at salads: tuna / Bacon / salmon / eggs and a heavy olive oil dressing. if your having issues with eating in the evening then swap your meals around, big lunch breakfast and something light for dinner?
I've been making pickled veg to give me a different taste (non dairy / greasy)

Lots of running as usual for me, again my training programme ends the week after bootcamp 10weeks with a race goal, its going well but i'm sore. Also having to try and gauge if I can do the distance fasted?

Yesterday
B. BPC 1 Boiled egg
L. Bacon & mince with Cauliflower
D. Veg stirfry mayo, 2HB eggs

Today
B. 2 eggs bacon mushrooms & BPC
L. cauliflower mayo
D. Pork chop carrot & celeriac mash Gravy

They had it in holland and barrett, though had to have a good look to find it :)

I made MIM for breakfast, then had it with cream cheese. It was good, though unlike the coconut porridge, the ds's were unimpressed. Grin

Next questions.

  1. How much was your ground flax?
  2. Flax is just linseen isn't it?
  3. Could I use micronized linseed (horse feed) instead?
  4. I've never fed my horses micronized linseed, how fine is it, do any horse people know?

Sayra - will there be carbs on offer at meals for others? They might find a meal without carbs a little odd.

Chester - I do a LCHF version of THD which is very similar to BC. That plan suggests introducing one type of dairy per week and monitoring your weight. You may be fine with hard cheese but not soft, with cream but not milk for example. Food diary and monitoring is the way to go. :)
