Low-carb bootcamp

Week 6 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - it's all downhill from here!

Evening all.

I'm starting this thread earlier than usual because I have to be up and out of the house by 7.30 tomorrow.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness as usual

And don't forget the Weight Tracker

I hope the God of Wooshes is looking favourably on you all!

From tomorrow I have 19 days until I fly off to Somewhere Hot, so I will be super vigilant and fighting off those pesky carbs with much vim and vigour.

like the look of this but it has a bit of flour in it. Any suggestions on how to tweak the recipe to get around it?

Gotcha Bitchy. You go for it. I don't know quite how it happened, because i only invited some of them, but I'm hosting a gazillion family for several days this year, sleeping on floors etc, including three toddlers and other children, plus my DM and her newish partner (she's not really D, she's a horrendous manipulative 16y/o in 70y/o body) and the power jostling began today... Your xmas sounds potentially nightmarish too. Good luck to both of us! Roar.

Have a good week all you lovelies - I'm tunnelling back into RL for another stint now... Hope I can lose a bit more flab by next time.

Well done Fanny

Beyond People tend to be more sympathetic and willing to support if there is a medical cause ime although there is always some twat who thinks they know better

I have dealt with my mother using this route. She is catering christmas and has already said: 1. you never eat pudding any way, 2. meh it is only one day just cheat and 3. I bloody hope you are still helping with the christmas baking

But she is right, it is one day, I don't eat pudding as enjoy my mains too much, and the food i would cheat with is stuff we only serve/eat on that day. So i am going to have to consider exactly how to play this. especially as there are 2 HUGE catered birthday events before them Just eat the gluten free stuff And it always my job to do the majority of baking as we were carrying on the tradition of getting the youngsters to help, and mum is getting to old to manage it. I am sorting out strategies like being out or unavailable for the less important celebrations old traditional view and every advent sunday requires a family get to get with c&b sos got a lot of thinking but quietly pleased that I didn't fall into the trap of my old friend shelf and the worst that happened as a diet coke as was dying for a caffine hit and no time or opportunity for a coffee. I reckon I have driven around 100 miles and seen a so called specialist who didn't appear to know his arse from his elbow. perhaps a little mean but he definitely didn't know case history nor what HIS department had done previously Normally my friend shelf would provide me with all the support i needed in this situation. Instead I am being proactive and doing stuff with angry energy. This counts as winning. Not hopeful for the scales tomo. But psychological wins work for me. Means when I do hit losses they will stay losses. [determined]

I'm going to stay with friends this weekend, they spoil us rotten when we visit so i hope they understand that i am staying ON the wagon. I'm thinking of phrasing it as a health thing for my IBS etc, rather than just a 'diet'...

well done Fanny !

Just coming on to wave, really. Feeling happy because I haven't wobbled despite DS's birthday on Friday, family staying, houseful of 4 year olds, sweets, cake, meals out and general celebrations and breezed through it all, possibly converting my Ps to LC along the way on purely health grounds. Possibly too much wine, having said that, puncturing any smuggery.

Suspect I'll have STS though. Just not feeling losey. but as long as I've STS and not gained I'll feel like I really am settling at a lower weight and last week wasn't just a low blip.

Hellooo I still exist - though there is slightly less of me since the start of BC!

I've been sticking (mostly) to the plan but have been unable to keep up with the message board even to lurk as so busy, but I'm delighted to say that I've lost 10lbs and a dress size without much hardship. I even had a week in the south of France and have had much more wine most weeks than I was meant to, but my demanding new job - no time to eat or think about food - and plenty of fat have helped me get by.

My BMI is very nearly back in the 'normal' range again after 4 years in 'overweight' and, though I'm sure I could have lost it faster if I'd tried a bit harder, I'm so thrilled to see it coming off so steadily, that I'm happy to wait until the spring to be at my goal if that's what it takes. Hurrah for low-carb high fat!

Beyond Whilst the majority of people seem to moan about LC causing constipation, theres a whole load of us who are the other way. I had done SW for a long time (with little lasting effect!) Even on red days, which is lower carb than the other plans, I had trouble keeping things going and I put it down to my painkillers. It must have been the carbs rather than the meds as on LCHF I am verging on a little too much the other way. The slightest hint of carb slows it all up again. If it all gets too much I just have one flax muffin and it all slows down again. Simples! Grin

Tmi post...

Is there anyone else here prescribed daily movicol for constipation? Me and the gp both attributed it to all my other meds causing it, it wasnt thought to be a diet problem. To give you a rough idea of my diet pre LC, the meals were very close to a 'green' slimming world diet (as my mum was always on SW growing up and its just how i've always eaten), just with too many snacks thrown in. I've never had a problem eating enough veg, way more than five a day. Even with the movicol, i have a very slow bowel, which was attributed to the HMS (its common in it) so no longer constipated but only going once or twice a week.

But since i've been LC, ive managed to drop the movicol and am going every other day, if not every day! Its enough to keep me on the wagon forever i think! :) :)

BPC is lovely, like a frothy coconutty latte, or as close as you can get on LC.

Yeserday was interesting - tea was two sausages and a bottle of red wine. Feel rotten today and was so hungry when I woke. Fry up, two paracetamol and a litre of water later and I'm starting to feel a bit more human. Just need to drag myself off the sofa and into the shower and my transformation will hopefully be complete

Today's plan:
B: big assed breakfast
L: prawns, avocado, salad, mayo
D: going to pub so steak and salad

DW read this thread last night and offered me her CC oil as she'd finished rubbing it on her legs My version is (definitely from now on) butter, cream & coffee.

miffy49 · 09/11/2014 00:11

I put coconut oil into ice cube trays and eat a cube like a sweet with my morning coffee. Can't face BPC as I don't like milk or cream in coffee.

Report
prettybird · 08/11/2014 23:18

I don't drink BPC but I do put a spoonful of coconut oil (the KTC stuff which doesn't taste at all coconutty) into a cup of rooibos or licorice-peppermint or salted caramel day once a day: it gives the tea a nice roundedness. just make sure not to drink it too hot Smile

I only have salted butter here, otherwise i'd try one in the morning. I'm just worried it'll be a waste of the blardy expensive coconut oil Grin
