Week 2 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - how was the first week?!

BIWI · 06/10/2014 07:35

Morning all. I'm not liking this Autumnal stuff at all!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your first official weigh in

And don't forget there's also the Weight Tracker if you want to keep it private.

You can, obviously use both Grin

If you're looking for inspiration in the kitchen, have a browse of the Recipe Thread and feel free to add any of your own ideas.

I hope that you're all through the other side of carb flu, if you suffered from it, and wish you all a very good second week.

Bitchy are you ok? Did you find something to eat? My godsend is creamy soup, just made a batch this evening and managed not to put the lid on the blender properly - resulted in an unscheduled cleaning blitz. Grin

Today

B - yogurt/cream/almond butter
L - leftover chicken satay stir fry
D - pork chop, roasted cauliflower, broccoli, mushroom sauce

SayraT · 09/10/2014 22:16

pretty I can't seem to protect individual cells, I have protected some of the other sheets but can't seem to do it for one cell.

If you know how to do it then please let me know Smile

Food Today

B: Fry up (sausage, fried egg, bacon, black pudding)
L: Boiled egg, cheese
D: Duck breast

readyforno2 · 09/10/2014 23:30

My food today has consisted of
B coffee with cream
L smoked salmon salad with boiled egg, small piece of cheese and mayo
D chicken salad

No snacks
Maybe 6 pints of water.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 09/10/2014 23:43

I didn't mange to find something in the end. I got caught up in a rather intense conversation with the ex over ds, when i finally got ds to bed at 9pm. He is going to be knackered tomo and i suspect that i am in for a lot of battles. He is 6 levels behind where he is predicted and is more than capable but has had a lot of medical absences so it is a bit of a moment as we were focusing on the one subject as he has always been weak in it. Turns out he struggles far more in this other topic. Not impossible and he is stupidly bright. But show a kid who likes doing extra work. And that has been the nice no very stressful part of my day Hmm

Breakfast: 3 eggs scrambled
Lunch: lettice, celery, and cucumber with 2 eggs as egg mayo
tea: 2 pieces of chicken, and 3 slices of ham
water: ~2ltrs but lost count however the bottom line is not enough water!

And I am pretty certain BIWI will tell me that I need more veg too.

MoJangled · 09/10/2014 23:55

Calamitous day.

Started brilliantly with a 69.9 kg weigh in - I'm right behind you ANote - massive thing to see a 6 on the scale for the first time for 5 years.

Disaster struck when new boss took me for inaugural lunchtime meeting. I was overconfident, assuming I could have the ubiquitous chicken salad. But it was a veggie Asian restaurant and I just couldn't think fast enough to come up with any reason not to have the potato curry in a rice flour pancake. Basically carbs with carbs. I are the minimum but the damage is done. Am really delayed and driving loads of water but think I'll be seeing my nemesis the 7 again tomorrow...

Tough stuff, Bitchy . I hope yr little lad is ok. I find spoonfuls of butter help in these situations.

MoJangled · 09/10/2014 23:58

Oh FFS. I ate the minimum... Am really deflated and drinking loads of water ... Predictive text is not my friend

BIWI · 10/10/2014 00:21

I'm sorry to do this. But this is what we made today. We didn't eat it, which is the only saving grace!

Wow, spectacular, BIWI! DS is full of admiration.

Tanukisan · 10/10/2014 07:23

I had an odd day again yesterday appetite wise, tum seems a bit more settled but I didn't eat as much as I should, not even nearly. I had a really long day at work (12 hours) and intended to eat when I got home at nearly 11. As soon as I walked through the door however, the baby started crying. I had a glass of water and a small piece of feta, then fell asleep resettling him.

B: feta, cucumber and cherry toms, coffee with double cream
L: salami and salad leaves
No dinner
S: small piece of feta
D: loads of water (could have drunk more, was thirsty still), two coffees with double cream, one diet coke (I know, but I'm down from two and it's beginning to taste too sweet).

This is my fourth week without sugar, as I started that before bootcamp. The battery in my scale has gone but I already feel so much slimmer.

Tanukisan · 10/10/2014 07:25

BIWI that is just beautiful by the way. My eldest turns four next month and is a huge space fan - can you tell me how you made it? He'd be delighted at something similiar for his birthday!

ChesterDrawers · 10/10/2014 07:32

Weighed myself and I've now only lost 0.2lb so far this week. Trying to tell myself it's a natural fluctuation but I do feel a bit disappointed if I'm honest. Exactly why I need to steer clear of the scales.

Is anyone else not planning on drinking again this weekend? My resolve is crumbling and I am dreaming of a glass of red.

ClashCityRocker · 10/10/2014 07:49

I may have had a couple of glasses of vino last night - but I made sure I ate first so I didn't get 'drunk and hungry' - a lethal combination.

I'm not going to drink this weekend, I've decided. My food choices are a heck of a lot poorer when I've had a drink. Also, i quite enjoyed not having a drink last weekend - I felt really rested by the time Monday rolled around.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/10/2014 09:07

I'm liking Because it's Bollocks innit

Daily weigher here too not liking what I'm seeing this am. No reason for it except fluctuation. At this rate though won't have lost anything this week, and that def be bollocks!

CrabbyTheCrabster · 10/10/2014 09:17

That's beautiful BIBI. Grin

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 10/10/2014 09:58

MoJangled he is fine now but did miss a good chunk of one school year due to broken bones he has since learnt to listen to me when i say he might break something when he is being dangerous Hmm I suspect that this is part of why he is struggling, in that he has gaps in his knowledge. There are other reasons but he has 18 months to unpick the problem and sort it out so it is completely possible. But it does need to be addressed and it is sometimes hard to get kids to accept that they need help. He accepted that last night so that is a big part of the battle. Now the practise and the work HmmGrin

Feeling proud that I didn't fall into the comfort food trap. But wanting to dive into that amazing looking cake BIWI posted. Envy Amazing cake. All those E no#s are going to be fun. assuming it is meant for the eating

prettybird · 10/10/2014 10:14

I'm holding off starting the 30 Day Shred until next week so that (hopefully) that will help mitigate/prevent the inevitable Stall Smile

aNoteToFollowSo · 10/10/2014 10:37

MoJangled those are brilliant. All I can come up with is

Because I'm Buggered If …(anyone gets fat on my watch).
Bootcamp isn't Bloody Idyllic (you know)
Yours are much better.

But meantime our fearless leader has been up to NO GOOD :) . Okay I admit it, those space cakes are amazing. I am in awe BIWI. But the real question is how do you make those without lots of licks of batter, and popping of chocolate buttons into the mouth? I just can't bake at all without snaffling a lot of sugar.

Jangled I love having a metric sixties buddy. Congratulations on hitting the sixty-niners. I'm now at 69.2, though I did touch 69 for one heady morning this week. But I have been hovering around that mark for ages, and was in despair when, once AGAIN, the scale was showing 70s. I'm very grateful to Bootcamp for helping me to start sliding down the sixties again.

I made my first ever eggy McMuffins today - thanks to all who suggested them higher upthread. Very nice too, though I used too much parmesan and they were a leetle sharp. But it does make a welcome change to the old boiled or scrambled egg for breakfast, and it's an easy way to get some veg in. (I fried off leek, mushroom and baby marrow, mixed it all up with some feta and lemon juice, put it into muffin cases and then poured beaten eggs mixed with cream over it all. And then sprinkled (too much) parmesan on top).

Good luck losers. Look forward to hearing about your days later.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 10/10/2014 11:06

whatabout Because I beat it (the sugar/the food industry's lies etc)?

Pisseslikeahorse · 10/10/2014 12:54

morning all, tired and cranky with slightly crazed family.

Went to get a drink of water last night only to find it dripping from my ceiling, by 11pm I had the floorboards up and stopped the leak. I've just fixed it but am knackered (kids both up in the night as well) and have ds2 birthday weekend / party with MIL due to arrive within the hr fuck!!! its her room that has the floor boards up... I'll say the mice did it Grin

B. BPC
L. Chicken avocado salad
D. 2 egg omelette, cauliflower
w. 9pts

prettybird · 10/10/2014 17:13

BIWI was veeeerrry bad posting up that photo Shock

and I shouldn't suggest that if you eat carbs standing up, they all fall out Wink

I'm blaming her for the fact that I've just insisted that ds gave me been given and eaten a square of dark healthy chocolate Blush

BIWI · 10/10/2014 17:34

It isn't cake - it's all chocolate!

ChesterDrawers · 10/10/2014 17:54

Feel like I've fucked up a bit today but I think I'm overreacting. So far I've had:

B: total yog, hit of cream, cinnamon
Late lunch as was out: 2x bowls of kale chips (only 30g raw in all), 2 fat bomsbs (with 85% choc, butter, coconut oil and almond butter), three slices of bacon fried in butter and topped with a thin slice of cheese each, a BPC.

And that's it. Not that bad actually and quite high fat but feels wrong. And I'm hungry still. And fed up. I think AF is due and I am pissed off with DH and I want wine.

Sorry for the moan Sad

Notsoskinnyminny · 10/10/2014 18:41

C'mon Chester we can do it - one more dry weekend, I'm going to put another tenner in my notsotreat fund because I buy the shopping inc wine I haven't tried cauli pizza but can vouch for the linseed pizza

75g ground linseeds
large handful of grated cheese
1 egg

mix together and put in the fridge so its not too sticky. Roll out, I do it between sheets of parchment otherwise it sticks to the rolling pin

top with passata (only needs 2-3 tbs), more grated cheese and whatever takes your fancy and cook for about 10 mins. I have sliced steak and mushrooms because its my replacement for steak baguettes on grand prix nights.

I did a pork shoulder in the slow cooker with coconut milk and ginger and it was nice but not as good as carnitas off the recipe thread which I've adapted slightly and add a carton of passata - its not too carby because it makes enough for 6 decent meals from an aldi pork shoulder (can't rembember the weight).

pork shoulder chopped and browned
2 shallots or 1 leek sliced and softened with a clove of garlic
1tsp cumin and coriander (i'd use more next time)
2" ginger peeled and thinly sliced
salt & pepper
I chilli deseeded and chopped

I put everything in the slow cooker overnight then added 3/4 tin of coconut milk in the morning before cooking on low for 10 hrs. I'd used too much milk so I put it on the hob for a few minutes to reduce the liquid and served with mashed brocolli.

I had cold leftovers with salad and they were yummyer but it needs a bit of a kick, I held back on the spices because DH is a wimp Grin

Ignore BIWIBI she's just testing us with her choccy creations Grin
