Morning all. I'm not liking this Autumnal stuff at all!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your first official weigh in

And don't forget there's also the Weight Tracker if you want to keep it private.

You can, obviously use both Grin

If you're looking for inspiration in the kitchen, have a browse of the Recipe Thread and feel free to add any of your own ideas.

I hope that you're all through the other side of carb flu, if you suffered from it, and wish you all a very good second week.

Morning all - had a gruelling week with too much going on and not enough sleep but have managed to just about stay on track.
Not feeling optimistic about the scales though as am sure I am just eating too much - portion control is definitely one of the reasons i am overweight but I do get really hungry even with this WOE.

Today -

B - sausage and mushrooms
L - will be out for lunch but I think they do omelettes
D - slow cooked pork belly and kale and some other yet to be determined veg - leeks maybe.

Looking forward to tonights dinner - but Am finding the cooking in the weekday evenings hard work - I know if probably sounds a bit pathetic but we are often in survival mode in the week as DS still wakes in the night so I rely on slow cooked one pot meals a lot and haven't really got much in my low carb repertoire yet.. think I need to trawl the recipe thread.

Have good sundays everyone - can't believe two weeks are done tomorrow!

StuntNun · 12/10/2014 09:52

Present how much weight do you have to lose? Portion control usually only becomes a problem if you have less than a stone to eat, particularly if you are used to eating for a much bigger weight. In your position I would recommend eating when you're hungry but trying to pay more attention to your internal signals of hunger and fullness. I found that sometimes when I was hungry I felt that I could delay eating for a while but other times I needed something right away.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/10/2014 10:36

Had a shocking day food wise yesterday, in that there was nothing I could eat, and I nearly came a fainting cropper. Need to be more organised at taking stuff.

Anyway, curry last night - had tandoori chook with a bit of cauliflower, which was lovely, back on more normal eating today.

Have a good day Losers :)

BIWI · 12/10/2014 10:48

If you're hungry:

  • are you eating enough? This isn't a WOE that's about deprivation - if you're hungry, then eat something (as long as it's low carb, obviously!)
  • are you eating enough fat?
  • are you drinking enough water?

Weighed on Wednesday and had lost 1lb. Today up 1lb so STS this week. So feeling very dispirited. :(
I will weigh again tomorrow and hope it is just a fluctuation.

toomuchicecream · 12/10/2014 12:35

Greetings all. Only 2 minor transgressions this week, which are far, far outweighed by the number of times I've turned down biscuits, cake etc. Had a very stressful day at work on Thursday which ended up with me using the computer at a desk which had the plate of biscuits for that days Very Important Visitor on it. It was getting on for 6pm. I hadn't eaten since lunch and I was tired and hungry, but I still managed to ignore them calling me.

The big thing I've learnt is that I find it comparatively easy to turn down the first biscuit/sweet/piece of cake, but once I've had the first one it will ALWAYS be followed by another and another and another - once I've started I just don't have an off switch.

I've drunk all my water, eaten lots of lovely LC meals and done more exercise than I usually fit in. So I'm a little peeved that, having dropped by 1 pound, the scales are now back up so it looks like I'm only going to be 1/2 pound down tomorrow. But I'm in this for the long haul. Above all, when I low carb I have so, so, so much more energy and feel more alert. Also, my clothes are definitely looser than they were 2 weeks ago, so trousers I wouldn't have worn in public are now decent!

BiggerYellowTaxi · 12/10/2014 12:53

Hi everyone, I could do with some advice/suggestions. I was sick in the night (D&V) and although I've been fine since 2am, my stomach still hurts and I feel queasy. I can't face my normal foods so all I've had today was a small handful of almonds. I'd normally eat some dry toast or crackers but these are obviously out. Any ideas what might be LC and palatable to my poor tummy?

ClashCityRocker · 12/10/2014 13:29

Maybe some class of soup or broth?

readyforno2 · 12/10/2014 13:29

Afternoon everyone!
Ended up at the all you can eat Chinese last night.. Thought it would've difficult but I only strayed once.. The wee pancakes for crispy duck and I only had two! Promise!
Hope it doesn't affect my weight.. I'll be gutted if I go back up.
I've had a real craving for fizzy juice recently.. Diet coke is allowed on bc lite isn't it?
So far today I've had 4 pints of water, one tea with cream
B- yog
L- salad with pate
D- will be mince with mashed cauliflower, will do mashed pots for the kids

Hobbes8 · 12/10/2014 13:35

I've been struggling the last few days with constipation - anyone have any tips? Sorry it's a unpleasant subject but it's about the only thing threatening to derail me at the moment. I had a glass of orange juice and some potatoes yesterday, which worked, but I'd obviously prefer to stick to my diet and have regular bowels!

I know I need to drink more water and I'm working on it, but I have a lot of meetings at work at the moment and my pelvic floor's not what it used to be (my I'm over sharing today!). Anything else that might help? Less dairy, perhaps?

ClashCityRocker · 12/10/2014 13:36

Hoe you're feeling better soon!

Having a much better day today after giving myself a telling off last night. Not going to weigh myself until Monday morning.

Sort of combined breakfast and lunch today, had bacon and eggs and mushrooms.

Fish with Cale and broc and a buttery sauce for tea.

Interested to see tomorrow's weigh in for me - I've been really good apart from yesterday, which I'm miffed about.

ClashCityRocker · 12/10/2014 13:40

hobbes8 fat is supposed to help - are you getting enough?

Also, I'm finding I need to go a lot less - probably half as much as I did previously, so are you sure you're actually constipated, rather than just needing to poop less?

Of course, whilst my bowel movements have decreased, I've been peeing for England!

BiggerYellowTaxi · 12/10/2014 13:49

Thanks Clash, I might make some Bovril.

CharlieSierra · 12/10/2014 15:11

I feel the same hobbes8, kiwis normally work for me but not allowed. I need to persevere with the water which I do find difficult, more so at the weekend. I keep getting caught short. Blush

Today

Brunch - sausages & scrambled eggs
Dinner - roast guinea fowl, cauliflower gratin with bread sauce flavours (will attempt, as per Nigellas bread sauce flavoured potato gratin), fondant turnips, green veg.

I have also been a domestic machine and knocked up a batch of Mayo, kale crisps and breakfast muffins for next week.

ClashCityRocker · 12/10/2014 16:32

Charliesierra, send some of that to me, your tea sounds amazing!

BIWI · 12/10/2014 16:43

More fat, if you're struggling! And more water will definitely help. Some exercise can also help you.

And make sure you're getting your carbs from plenty of veg and salad.

ChesterDrawers · 12/10/2014 16:53

Afternoon all, busy day here. Lots of chores so not much time to eat.

B: BPC - not loving early food at the min
L: broccoli and Stilton soup
D: will be slow cooker pork, home made coleslaw, salad with olive oil and jacket spuds with butter for the carbsters

Still gaining - a steady 0.2lbs a day and now heavier than last week's official WI. Please God say it's to do with TOTM rather than cheese!

BIWI · 12/10/2014 16:54

TOTM will definitely have an impact.

But I'd also say that it looks like you're not eating very much - which won't help!

CharlieSierra · 12/10/2014 18:43

Scoffed the lot Clash but if you're missing bread sauce the cauliflower was a winner.

BIWI · 12/10/2014 18:45

Recipe, Charlie?!

OP posts:
ClashCityRocker · 12/10/2014 18:46

Oh gonna look it up - what recipe is it, the nigella one?

Was just thinking today, giving that BC will end in mid dec, how to make the festive period a bit less carby.

I eat a ridiculous amount of bread sauce between Xmas Eve and New Year's Day - literal cold cuts, bread sauce and cranberry sauce every single day in between Grin

CharlieSierra · 12/10/2014 19:02

I got the idea from the Nigella one, but the method wouldn't work because potatoes absorb liquid, anyway it contains milk. So, I steamed my cauliflower and covered it in the sauce which I made with Philly and cream having infused the cream first as in bread sauce, slice of onion ( not eaten so hope ok), cloves, mace, salt & pepper - didn't measure sorry, just 'to taste'. I sprinkled on some cheese and browned in the oven.

CharlieSierra · 12/10/2014 19:12

Thinking about it, you could just make a grainy purée with infused cream - I thought that the other day when I was making soup and it was too thick at first, I didn't do that today as DH isn't keen on purées.

CharlieSierra · 12/10/2014 19:18

Bay leaf!

ClashCityRocker · 12/10/2014 19:56

Ah that's an idea - I bet a cauliflower purée with the infused cream would be about the right texture. Gonna give it a bash I think!
