Welcome everyone! I'm starting the thread early because I have to be up and out of the house at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your starting weight

If you don't want to put your weight on the public spreadsheet, you can enter it on the weight tracker. (This probably won't be available until tomorrow morning)

If you've joined up very recently, and your name isn't on the spreadsheet, just add it on at the bottom - the very lovely SayraT will re-alphabetize everything later.

Figrus if you have a couple of stone to lose then you can do that in two Bootcamps if you keep low carbing between them. Some people on here started Bootcamping at over 200 lb and it will naturally take them longer to reach their ideal weight. I had a hiccup over Christmas and joined the January Bootcamp to get back on track. I have tried two types of maintenance. The first, which didn't work for me, was to increase my daily carb intake with fruit smoothies, milk, a small amount of white rice etc. But in my case that way triggered carb cravings which soon got out of hand. The other way, which works really well for DH and I, is to eat according to Bootcamp Light but have a meal off at the weekend or have a dessert or something else 'forbidden' that we have been wanting. I do find that even then I don't go mad and it will be something like a dessert when out for dinner, or roast potatoes with my Sunday dinner. For me a serving of carrots with dinner or an apple at breakfast is a treat that doesn't lead me into a downward spiral. Different people have different carb tolerances and we each need to figure out how maintenance works for ourselves. I know someone else who weighs himself daily and if his weight is above x lb then it's a low carb day, if it's below x lb then it's a more relaxed day. This is a sustainable way of eating: you can lose the weight and keep it off.

Figrus I agree with those who say diets are only sustainable for those who stick to eating sensibly while on them and afterwards. It is a way of eating not a magic wand. I know that my fault is still seeing food as a treat so can tend to relapse to how I ate before and the fat returns. Basically, if I could eat healthily long term I would not be fat.

My first bootcamp was exactly 2 years ago and I admit, like BIWI, my weight has not gone down every single week. I've had some bumps on the graph but that's life for most of us and, whereas before I was creeping up and up, I am still 2stone lower than where I started which can only be a good thing.

scousadelic · 05/10/2014 23:19

Btw Figrus. That does not mean it will take 2 years to lose 2 stone, I lost more than that but rebounded somewhat (particularly a recent holiday to the USA in which I managed an obscene increase!) so am now starting again

Like Scousadelic, I did my first Bootcamp 2y ago. The first 3w were really tough. So much so that dh worried for my health. But I persevered for two reasons. (1) my reading around the subject encouraged me, and (2) despite feeling fluey and being woken by leg cramps every night, my severe bloating and chronic wind, indigestion and reflux had completely disappeared by the end of week one.

After those 3 weeks the regular weightloss - which astonished and delighted me every week - motivated me and kept me going.

I continued LCHF and lost 5st in 15months. Xmas, holidays, birthdays, parties, hosting and being hosted, I coped with all of them. I found the WOE totally maintainable aand compatible with family life. The only challenge was eating out (I got fed up with Melanzane Parmigiana!).

After 15m I still had a stone to lose, and new that I would need to BC again. But I decided that i was happy, for the time being, with my weight and chose instead to discover my carb tolerance. I started reintroducing carbs. I soon f

Whoops, I hit post by mistake.

I soon found that wheat was a total no-no. Never mind carbs - it was the cause of my previous gastric problems. But I could cope with small amounts - thickened gravy, a taste of cake, etc.

My size remained constant for several months. What did for me was the summer holidays. The stress sent me back to the cupboard, back to disordered eating, back to binging, back to mood-swings and nausea. And I put on a dress-size in 6w. Hence I am back on BC.

And that is why some people need repeated BC. Smile
