Welcome everyone! I'm starting the thread early because I have to be up and out of the house at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your starting weight

If you don't want to put your weight on the public spreadsheet, you can enter it on the weight tracker. (This probably won't be available until tomorrow morning)

If you've joined up very recently, and your name isn't on the spreadsheet, just add it on at the bottom - the very lovely SayraT will re-alphabetize everything later.

And here is the questions thread

The chat threads on the first couple of weeks on Bootcamp move really quickly, so if you have a specific question it's often better to post it on the questions thread, to make sure it gets seen.

For extra inspiration here is the recipe thread . It's stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp Topic.

There are lots of lovely recipes here, and please feel free to add your own.

And now I don't have to worry about On strike Monday Brain. Anyone recently told you how fabulous you are with these thread BIWI? Flowers Grin

Username12345 · 28/09/2014 23:43

Thank you for the thread BIWI Thanks

I've already been practising. I've cut out caffeine and all the high carb foods I was eating like bread.

But strict bootcamp is going to be interesting, especially since I'm a picky eater.

SixImpossible · 28/09/2014 23:50

Oh I'm looking forward to tomorrow! I've carb-fested, and now I feel dire - bloated, indigestion, light-headed, moody. I know that, even though I'm going to feel rough next week, the bloating, indigestion, light-headedness and moodiness are going to disappear.

Hissy · 29/09/2014 01:13

can't wait either!

CheerfulYank · 29/09/2014 01:18

Hi Biwi! I'm actually pregnant but would still like to be low carb/low sugar as I feel best this way. (I have celiac disease and can't have a lot of grains anyway.)

Do you know if this is okay during pregnancy? I don't want to lose weight while pregnant obviously but it would be nice to have more energy, which I seem to when sticking with protein and veggies and lots of water.

PseudoBadger · 29/09/2014 04:08

Morning all! Good luck Thanks

GuiltyAsAGirlCanBe · 29/09/2014 05:39

HRH008isback · 29/09/2014 05:52

Weighed in.

BestIsWest · 29/09/2014 06:09

Morning all. Forgot to weigh this morning so will have to go by yesterday's weight. Thank you BIWI and Sayra.

Rhubarbcrumbled · 29/09/2014 06:37

Thank you! Just weighed in and managed to put on this morning. Good start!
So it's 9st 2lbs and all ready to go.

SayraT · 29/09/2014 06:55

Excited!

Apologies if anyone is missing on spreadsheet, I know I missed some names. If you are not on it just add your name at the bottom of the list. Thanks Grin

Suzymoo09 · 29/09/2014 06:55

Thankyou BIWI for your time, committment and guidance Flowers - I am excited for a brand new bootcamp full of hope and am re-motivated after a lax summer. GOOD LUCK everyone.

BIWI · 29/09/2014 07:04

CheerfulYank - as long as you don't go too low carb you should be fine - Bootcamp Light is better for you (rules for Bootcamp Light are also on the spreadsheet), so it means you can have nuts/seeds and berries. I'd also be inclined to make sure you're eating carbier veg, and even some pulses.

Well, that was not a good start to a Monday morning having to face the scales Grin

However, it's all downhill from here!

Morning campers:)

Going to be stopping coffee this week so anticipating a few early nights. I've got a big pile of books from the charity shop to occupy me:)

And hopefully get out running again, been to busy with a house move and stuff getting in the way and affecting my long term lc and exercise. Had slight shock when did up jeans and looked in mirror:( still, will soon go when start drinking copious amounts of water ( hopeful) and not eating chocolate biscuits:)

BIWI · 29/09/2014 07:13

A brief summary of the rules, which are all on the spreadsheet (look at the tabs at the bottom), where they are also explained in more detail:

We do not eat any of the following during Bootcamp:

bread
rice
pasta/noodles
potatoes
flour
pastry
sugar
chocolate/sweets
biscuits/cookies
crisps

And here are the ten rules of Bootcamp:

  1. You must eat breakfast.
  2. Avoid processed food
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

Hello new thread! Cheerful how far along are you? Some people find they can only eat carbs when the morning sickness is at its worst but in the second trimester they can get back into low carb. As you're pregnant you need a little more carbs and to make sure you stay out of ketosis so I would recommend starting straight on to Bootcamp Light. Fruits and milk are a good way to increase your carbs slightly without setting off carb cravings.

BIWI · 29/09/2014 07:17

You'll also find a veg carb counter on the spreadsheet. Whilst Bootcamp has been designed so that you don't have to weigh or count anything, it can be a good idea to start off by weighing your portions of veg, just so you get a good understanding of 100g of something looks like.

For these first two weeks, focus on veg that is 3g carbs per 100g as much as you can. Here are some veg and their carb counts:

Mushrooms 0.4
Watercress 0.4
Spinach 0.8
Celery 0.9
Broccoli 1.1
Asparagus 1.4
Cucumber 1.5
Lettuce 1.7
Courgettes 1.8
Cauliflower 1.9
Avocado flesh 1.9
Radish 1.9
Turnip 2
Pumpkin 2.2
Runner beans 2.3
Swede 2.3
Celeriac 2.3
Green pepper 2.6
Baby sweetcorn 2.7
Aubergine 2.8
Leeks 2.9
Okra 3

with apologies for the formatting, or lack of!

Ready for this. My 7 yr old told me last night that I needed to lose weight. Sad

Onwards ladies!

BetterTogether · 29/09/2014 07:30

Morning everyone! Thanks BIWI and Sayra for doing another Bootcamp Thanks

I've added myself to the spreadsheet. Heaviest non-pregnant weight I've ever been Sad

But that just means that Bootcamp is even more needed, right! Grin I tried to be as prepared as possible for today as I remember from previous attempts that that is really key. So I did a roast leg of lamb last night (normally something I'd only do when we have extra people coming round to eat), meaning that I've got a big plate of leftover meat in the fridge if I find myself staring at the fridge in a picky mood over the first couple of days (my big weakness is boredom eating); and I remembered to boil some eggs last night to take to work this morning for breakfast (with cucumber, a couple of slices of salami & mayonnaise, yum) - usually I just skip breakfast and drink multiple cups of coffee! I've also started drinking fruit teas over the last few days so that I can swap some of my coffees with those - 2-3 coffees with a splash of milk hopefully ok, 6-7 probably not so much!

Good luck everyone! Hope we all have a great first day Smile
