Welcome everyone! I'm starting the thread early because I have to be up and out of the house at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your starting weight

If you don't want to put your weight on the public spreadsheet, you can enter it on the weight tracker. (This probably won't be available until tomorrow morning)

If you've joined up very recently, and your name isn't on the spreadsheet, just add it on at the bottom - the very lovely SayraT will re-alphabetize everything later.

ready you have done so brilliantly, I'm really impressed!

The only comment I'd make looking at your menus is that they do look very dairy heavy - perhaps you could try and cut down on the dairy a little?

Biwi that sounds like an awful day! Poor you!

SMS today:
B: scrambled eggs and 2 coffees with cream
L: chicken Caesar salad without the dressing plus a few sticks of mozzarella
S: bit of the chicken, leek, mushroom and cream sauce I made for kids tea!
D: steak and spinach salad
Plus lots of water and herbal teas. Just looking at it wondering if there's too much dairy in there...

MrsGuyMartin · 04/10/2014 06:44

And somewhere in that lot you come and help us out BIWI! I'm appreciating you even more now. I'm here to be excited this morning as the scales suddenly shifted and it's 3lbs off this week! Yay!
My mum insists my scales are dodgy as she always weighs heavier on them.

ChesterDrawers · 04/10/2014 07:26

Oh BIWI, poor you. Sounds like a terrible day. Hope you've got a quiet Sunday on the horizon!

Busy day myself today, but luckily I'm feeling quite perky this morning after no wine last night. Dare I away it, I think this might be the fabled 'energised phase' I've heard about.

Today's plan:
B: scrambled eggs, mushrooms, lots of butter
L: out for friends birthday lunch and then theatre. Low carb meal, no cake or wine and no theatre sweets!
D: Aldi Aberdeen Angus burger (processed but low carb) with bacon and cheese, swede chips, salad

Then a night of sober X-Factor before more cake-dodging birthday parties tomorrow.

Am so excited by everyone's weightloss so far, you've all done so well. I've actually managed to not weigh since Monday, usually I'm on twice a day when I am on it. I'm scared that I won't have lost but I have stuck to the rules so logic suggests...

toomuchicecream · 04/10/2014 07:41

Morning all. Have been here all week but mostly reading on phone so cba to try and type out a message normally. But up early at laptop to get all my school work done this morning (must start that at some point...) so am on the laptop - two good excuses to communicate.

Have stuck carefully to rules all week. Didn't expect to lose much/anything as a) it's the wrong time of the month so I'd normally go up by a couple of pounds and b) I started this on last autumn's bootcamp. For much of the past year, and especially the past month, I've been pretty good at sticking to it so I wasn't expecting the big initial whoosh at all. Also, I've had plenty of time off over the summer. Having read discussion in the past about whether this diet becomes less effective the more times you try it and fall off the wagon, I thought I might have confused my body completely.

So imagine my surprise and delight that I'm 4 pounds down! That means I've only got half a stone to go to get to my lowest weight (Easter) in recent years!! That's quite something when I reflect on what I scarfed over the summer...

Keep going everyone.

Tanukisan · 04/10/2014 07:52

Is there a thread anywhere on good places to eat out? I discovered Leon do excellent breakfast pots based on a poached egg (it was delicious). I also noticed Itsu were advertising a low carb lunch.

I forgot to ask for my salad to come without dressing yesterday, it tasted so sweet! There really is sugar everywhere.

I'm struggling with migraines and have decided to do bootcamp light to try to counteract this. I think they're a carb flu symptom for me, just one that I really really need to avoid. Tricky. More water will help too.

Yesterday:
-B: scrambled eggs made with cream, avocado and four cherry tomatoes
-L: tuna mayo salad - complete fail on the dressing, also it contained sweetcorn
-D: pork steak wrapped in prosciutto, in sage butter (from M&S, delicious), purple sprouting broccoli, a few pieces of chicken breast in cream cheese sauce.
-S: salami, cold trout

Drinks - a BPC (these make me feel sick Sad), a double espresso, a diet coke and not nearly enough WATER.

ClashCityRocker · 04/10/2014 08:40

Morning all!

I'd be interested in low carb friendly places to eat out. Will obviously be forgoing my weekend visit to the local cafe for a toastie and cake.

Woke up feeling fine, great in fact. I'm wondering if I had too much diary yesterday - cheese for lunch and cauliflower tea for cheese. I felt really rotten after tea last night. I don't usually eat a lot of diary, so that was a lot for me even in the normal course of things.

I'm a bit constipated too (sorry tmi!) so am hoping lots and lots of water will help with that!

Am gonna do a shepherds pie topped with swede for tea I think.
Not sure about brekkie and lunch yet.

PrimalLass · 04/10/2014 09:00

Morning. Well done losers, good job.

Still 3.5lb down. Well, 3, but the scale flickers down then up again, so I'm counting it Blush. Last night was a write-off but back on it today. I have struggled with this exact weight (11.3) on and off for years. I managed to get to 11.2 (I think) the day I went on holiday in July but not really since. I would live to be 11.2 or 11.1 on Monday.

Strange emotional family day today. May include lunch out. The bloody weather is awful.

Struggling with the rich food, so I needed something 'sharp' tasting last night. I made a pork shanks and lemon casserole, and had it with buttery green beans. It was OK, although the sauce was odd. But I couldn't face something creamy.

Today:
B: marscapone, cream and cocoa powder
L: who knows
D: chicken curry I think

PrimalLass · 04/10/2014 09:00

*love to be

Tanukisan · 04/10/2014 09:06

LOVE how the as at the bottom of my screen is for Meadowland Professional - a vegetable fat 'butter alternative' from Unilever Food Solutions.

Boak.

BestIsWest · 04/10/2014 09:56

2 to 3 lbs off ( scales a bit wobbly). Hurrah. I didn't lose anything in the first two weeks in the May BOotcamp so delighted.

BIWI · 04/10/2014 10:08

Brilliant progress everyone!

I didn't get on the scales this morning because of yesterday, and I have to negotiate around my dinner party this evening. At least I'm cooking it, so I can control what I make - and my friends are also low carb converts (for health reasons rather than weight) so they won't be expecting massive dishes of rice or potatoes!

I'm planning:

  • some form of sharing board to start - sliced meats, roasted veg, olives, etc
  • roast leg of lamb studded with garlic and rosemary, with celeriac boulangere (if I can find a celeriac anywhere!) and asparagus with Parmesan shavings
  • not sure about pudding, but may experiment with some kind of tart, using an almond crust; possibly filled with strawberries and yoghurt whipped with vanilla bean paste
  • cheese board with celery for me and bread/crackers for the rest

That sounds lush, BIWI.

4lb off so far - teetering towards 5lb.

soonasthesunsets · 04/10/2014 10:25

Can I join in? bit late to the party, I know.... but I'm in dire need :)

ponygirlcurtis · 04/10/2014 13:49

BIWI that sounds like a fab meal even without the LC element.

My eating this week has been good. Not fallen off the wagon at all. Have experimented with adding a little cream and blue cheese to my veggies etc and it is just gorjus. Just had a lovely deli lunch of olives, chorizo and a little blob of blue cheese.

Not been so good in other respects though. Been a stressful week at work and I'm afraid on Wednesday it got the better of me and I've had alcohol every night since then.
In the last Bootcamp I was using other methods of stress-relief like meditation so I know I need to sort myself out and get back to doing that.

Going to scroll back up to get the recipe for the FFF Grin and make that for lunches throughout the week. Getting myself organised.

prettybird · 04/10/2014 14:03

BIWI: you could coat that almond crust with a thin layer of extra dark chocolate Smile

prettybird · 04/10/2014 14:06

I've also got a great recipe for chocolate pots which uses eggs, dark chocolate, a wee bit of milk, cardamom pods and zest and juice of an orange. As it makes 8 little pots, that is only an eighth of an orange each (I think you could even cut back on the juice).

TheNutmegofconsolation · 04/10/2014 14:17

Busy week, but stuck to the bootcamp plan and very pleased to say that I have lost 5lbs! Very pleased indeed. It is great to read of all the other successes too; very inspiring.

CharlieSierra · 04/10/2014 14:20

Your dinner sounds lovely BIWI, I'm having family round on Sunday to meet our new Grandson and baked goods will be involved for everyone else except me - unfortunately they are not all LC converts and they think my house = cake! I'm doing some lovely ham though and I'm going to make myself a little crust less quiche.

trashcanjunkie · 04/10/2014 14:35

Dp is away to New York for Comic con. He's been lc til this morning. Normally breakfast's a struggle for him, but he gleefully chugged down fresh orange juice and a banana today. I think he's going to go a bit carb mad this week, but he's going straight back to lc on his return Hmm he reckons....

I have stuck happily to lc, and with dc's off to their dads for the weekend, I have some lovely lc meals for one to scoff, starting with my favourite quick hot meal - beef mince patties, fried in butter with salt, cabbage slaw and green salad dripping in dressing mmmmmmmm Grin

Pisseslikeahorse · 04/10/2014 14:40

Bit miffed this afternoon as Sainsbrys has stopped stocking the blue dragon coconut cream for their own crapy version (that separates in the fridge and floats in my coffee Angry)

B. BPC
L. Advocado, tuna, mayo, chilli mush & salad
D. Veg curry
9pts water

BestIsWest · 04/10/2014 15:04

I've just finished a carton of the Sainbury's coconut cream and it was fine so maybe you had an odd one Trash? I was squeezing the Blue Dragon ones in Asda last night and there were some which felt really solid so I suspect they would have separated too.

Have just had a round of 'carnies' made with buttered little gem lettuce and they were lush.

BestIsWest · 04/10/2014 15:05

carnies = sarnies of course.

aNoteToFollowSo · 04/10/2014 15:07

pretty bird please do post that chocolate pots recipe. It sounds lush.

Inspiring to read of all the losses - well done.

Funny old day for BC-wise me because I am observing the Jewish fast of Yom Kippur today. It's sunset to sunset so I could have a good LC meal at about 5 last night. But it's tonight that's the problem. The fast is traditionally broken on sugary, high carb things, followed by a meal. It will be hard to resist the sweet goodies when I'm hungry. But also I'm not sure that it's good for the body to cut out carbs after fasting. Anyone have any knowledge or advice for me about this? I'd be grateful.

In the absence of any advice I may just have to do what I do tonight and go back on the wagon tomorrow. Hope it doesn't mess up a whole five days of strict BCing though.

prettybird · 04/10/2014 15:18

I'll look it out and post it on the recipe thread, with a link from here. :) NB: Not for the first 2 weeks of the Boot Camp though! (only mentioned it for BIWI 'cos she was having people over for dinner).

Re breaking your fast: why not have loads and loads of water so that you feel full up from that! That way, even if you succumb out of politeness of course Wink to some of the sweet stuff, at least your system has a chance to flush it through more quiickly - and hopefully you've eaten less of it.
