If you're interested in joining us, sign up here. Bootcamp lasts for 10 weeks, and starts with two strict weeks, before you move on to Bootcamp Light for the remaining 8 weeks.

You aren't allowed to eat:

potatoes
pasta
rice/noodles
bread
sugar
flour

And for the first two weeks you can't eat fruit or drink alcohol

The idea behind Bootcamp is that whilst it should be strict (and therefore, hopefully, work!) that it should also be easy - therefore there is no weighing or counting of anything. Just ten rules that you need to follow.

So if you're interested - put your name down here!

too many binges over the past months - and I've gone up a dress size or two
I am definitely in!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/05/2014 12:12

Morning :)

piscivorous · 02/05/2014 12:34

Hyena I have tried that "follow your body" approach and it doesn't work for me either. My reasoning is that I have too much matter for my mind to cope with

LittleMiss Good to see you again, glad you are still moving in the right direction

Maryz Down be downhearted that you haven't lost loads, you've had a stressful time. I always think of how it compares to where I might have been if I hadn't done this WOE which would certainly be up!

WhooshFuckerFairy · 02/05/2014 13:30

Its a crazy double posting lifestyle at mo.....still clinging to last BC and must keep up with new one !

Hello to all new people, won't say hello to all in person , will tst my ' super posting ' brain !

  • I can feel it in my water that you will have better luck this time around.

Helo again pisci, twit and anyone else we haven't seen for a while.

Has anyone seen Athelstane ? is she a name changer at all - I worried about her, with her house move, flooding issues etc.....

Just to say that I am still a relative low carb newbie - the last one was the first one and it is really really is fabulous - i learnt a huge amount from Biwi and her band of wiseones. ( and less wise -

Hissy · 02/05/2014 14:08

One thing that worries me, and I suppose only time will tell, is the fat content.

i get horrific acid burn, bloating etc when I eat fatty/bready/sugary things. I am hoping removing the last 2 will enable me to eat the fat required for this LC thing.

has anyone else had this as an issue prior to LC and were they OK?

Thumbwitch · 02/05/2014 15:24

I'm being Bad now so I can be better next week when we start again. That's kind of perverse, I know - but if I get it out of my system now it will be easier next week, I think.
No cherries to sidetrack me this time!

I am a wee bit worried about the mood thing though - I got very grouchy last time - and I'm still a little homicidal grouchy after jetlag and so on, coming back to Aus from the UK. DH already thinks I hate him...

BIWI · 02/05/2014 15:27

I hope so, Hissy - but I'm not really too sure. I know that when I used to suffer from heartburn it was usually after I'd eaten cereal - and I don't suffer from it now. Fingers crossed for you that it will be ok!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/05/2014 15:32

Whoosh - I heart you :)

Feeling so much better already, and am firmly on track. Starting On Monday officially, and almost where I finished last BC, which is good.

Have a challenging Sunday coming up, my DD is rowing all day, first race at 7 bloody thirty am, potential last race 7.20 pm. Need to really plan for this, as stuck at the side of a Regatta course does not lend itself to LC, tis all burgers and shit

BIWI · 02/05/2014 15:48

Don't eat shit.

HTH

Thumbwitch · 02/05/2014 15:53

Grin at "don't eat shit" - indeed!

Take a packed lunch, Pistey. Hard boiled eggs, mini-babybels (I find they are pretty good even if they're out of the fridge for some time), slices of raw swede, Boursin to spread on the slices, crudités and dip (or just dip 'em in the Boursin of course - that does pretty well outside the fridge for a fair whack of time too, IME, and the softness it achieves does rather lend itself to being dipped into). Which river?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/05/2014 16:05

Not a river course, this one's at Dorney, which is fun because they can pretend they are in the Olympics Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/05/2014 16:06

Need to be organised, we are leaving at 5 on Sunday FFS.

Hissy · 02/05/2014 16:07

Thanks BIWI! That sounds hopeful! I think it's a combination of upset at bread/carbs/sugar that causes it, fatty food exacerbates it.

These last few days I have been more mindful and my heartburn is much less.

BC ought to give the digestion a bit of a break then I think.

Thanks

Thumbwitch · 02/05/2014 16:19

Jings, that's early! Glad those days are behind me. Dorney village is fab though, have you been there before? there used to be a really nice pub there, did excellent food - then it changed hands :(

daughteritsmeagain · 02/05/2014 16:57

i don't think I've ever in my life gone two weeks without fruit! well, I'm fat and I want to be a healthy size and a pleasant shape - so count me in. 5-19 May, no fruit. the other stuff shouldn't be a problem. I won't be posting my statistics, though. Grin

BIWI · 02/05/2014 17:25

No need to post statistics at all!

StuntNun · 02/05/2014 19:46

I thought I'd post a bit of info for the newbies although with the caution that your mileage may vary.

I started Bootcamp last June at a starting weight of 162lb. I lost 6lb the first week, 3lb the second week and 2lb the third week. It took me six weeks to lose the first stone then another 14 weeks to lose the second stone. I lost an average of 2lb per week for the first three weeks then 1lb per week for the next four months. I reached my target weight of 132lb in November and I have maintained the weight loss since then by continuing to follow Bootcamp Light.

I had my lipid profile tested this week and since they were last done two years ago, my total cholesterol, HDL and LDL have remained well within the normal range (so no worrying about all that saturated fat raising cholesterol). My triglycerides level has actually dropped, which is a normal consequence of low carb diets.

WhooshFuckerFairy · 02/05/2014 20:26

thumb .... Slices of raw swedeEnvy ...... Eeeuuww . Think will have to try as was neary sick at the thought of Bpc until I actually tried it ! ( might be ok with marmite on I guess !)
Hope you have a good day pistey .... Are scotch eggs allowed on such occasions ? I adore them and they do stop me fancying other peoples sandwiches . Good for your DD though - sounds like she is very good !

Lighthousekeeping · 02/05/2014 22:41

Have Morrissons always sold cauliflower rice? I've discovered it today, bought two packs to try. It will be so handy for work.

Best1sWest · 02/05/2014 23:43

I am going to do this, have done pig to twig a few times but always fall off the wagon. I am going to need help with my tea and coffee addiction. I always drink decaf but struggle with giving up the milk.

Thumbwitch · 03/05/2014 00:19

Whoosh - if you can eat raw carrot, you can eat raw swede! Grin It's not nearly as awful as you think, it's like a slightly more peppery version of carrot, honestly. I had a junior school friend who always used to bring sliced raw swede to school, I got quite a taste for it! IT has to be yer ackshual swede though, the orangey one, not turnip (the white one). Turnips are 'orrible, IMO.

FelixFelix · 03/05/2014 06:47

Hello all! I sort of tagged on to the end of the last thread then went AWOL. I'm still half heatedly LC-ing but keep going totally off the rails then back on again. The weather is starting to get warmer so it's given me a kick up the arse to get started again. I have a full fridge of LC friendly meals so I'm going to ease myself back in to it this weekend Grin

ImSoOverIt · 03/05/2014 09:09

Morrisons sell cauliflower rice?! Genius!
