If you're interested in joining us, sign up here. Bootcamp lasts for 10 weeks, and starts with two strict weeks, before you move on to Bootcamp Light for the remaining 8 weeks.

You aren't allowed to eat:

potatoes
pasta
rice/noodles
bread
sugar
flour

And for the first two weeks you can't eat fruit or drink alcohol

The idea behind Bootcamp is that whilst it should be strict (and therefore, hopefully, work!) that it should also be easy - therefore there is no weighing or counting of anything. Just ten rules that you need to follow.

So if you're interested - put your name down here!

Teawithlemon - e.g. have tea with lemon :) rather than sugar. I now have black coffee w/o sweetener or sugar. I could not go back to how I had it before. A few other things that are simply too sweet now. I only did bootcamp once, I've been left with some good habits. (But, sadly, the allure of BREAD and CRISPS has made me gain a few pounds.)

Oh bugger I missed bodyfart whooshy

Hi to all the bootcampers new and old

My name is Trashy, I am a carb addict, I have been clean since Jan 3rd with the exception of Easter and I am a shameless selfie poster Grin

LadyWithLapdog · 01/05/2014 22:17

Thanks for the answer, BIWI. I thought I remembered something of the kind but I was in a supermarket today and bought some as the sugar content was 0.1 in 80g cooked or something like that so I thought it might in fact be OK.

BIWI · 01/05/2014 22:18

Really? That seems very low for pulses! What was the carb count?

LadyWithLapdog · 01/05/2014 22:24

It says 0.1g sugars per 80g cooked mixed soup stuff and 0.8g sugars per 180g cooked couscous.

BIWI · 01/05/2014 22:28

Sorry - that can't be possible for pulses! What is the brand/what have you bought?

LadyWithLapdog · 01/05/2014 22:33

I have Waitrose Love Life soup mix containing pearl barley, haricot beans, yellow split peas, green split peas, red split lentils, marrowfat peas and brown rice. 9.6g CH per cooked 80g, of which 0.1g sugars. A whopping 49.8g and 2.2g per 100g raw. Maybe that's where I get things wrong, thinking cooked quantities when in fact I use much more of the raw ingredients!!!

Hello - I'd like to join in. I really enjoyed the last one and lost a fair bit and have kept going and am still losing weight. However, I am getting a bit slack - picking at the children's leftover pasta for example - and could do with a short, sharp shock to the system before it gets out of hand. And I'm going on holiday in August and I need to have shifted another 2 stone (at least) by then, so bring it on :)

LadyWithLapdog · 01/05/2014 23:03

Maryz - on reading the labels, yes, sugars and not carbs. But I thought it was the sugars that mattered? God, have I been doing this wrong all along?!

It's the total carb count which is the important thing. And something with that amount of pulses in it will be way, way too carby for Bootcamp. I'm sorry!

BIWI · 01/05/2014 23:10

Waitrose Love Life Soup Mix:

Typical Values per 100g
Energy 1147kj
Protein 14.5g
Carbohydrate 49.8g
of which sugars 2.2g
Fat 1.5g
of which saturates 0.3g
Fibre 10.6g
Sodium Traceg

Way, way, way, way too carby!!!

LadyWithLapdog · 01/05/2014 23:16

Bugger! I don't believe this. It's a wonder I lost so nicely last autumn. Back to the drawing board. Thank you :)

Right I'm in. DP has been LCing for a few weeks now, I keep making him lovely meals and then adding spuds and bread to mine. I may as well go the whole hog as I've become a carby twat and it's not like I couldn't do with losing a couple of stone.

I've been convincing myself that I can't do it, that cake is more important than losing weight, but mostly cake is just disappointing, overly sweet and artificial tasting. I ate a whole 100g bar of Oreo Dairy Milk tonight and I feel really sick. I didn't really enjoy it, I have loads of mouth ulcers on my tongue so I couldn't even enjoy the feeling of it melting on my tongue.

I'm quick to judge drug addicts and alcoholics, but I'm addicted to fucking carbs. What a loser. Hmm

piscivorous · 02/05/2014 00:37

I've only got a week till my holiday and, although it takes ages for me to lose weight, I put it on so easily so will do the first week then go away, return as a fatty then start properly

ImSoOverIt · 02/05/2014 07:42

Today is my last day of carby twattishness. I had a proper binge last night and I can't go on like this!

I have a free lunch at work today so can't turn that down! It will be sandwiches. Then tomorrow I will start. Saturday feels like a good day to start.

LittleMissDisorganized · 02/05/2014 08:44

Hopefully, Hyena, this is a bootcamp that removes a few assumptions. I'm an alcoholic with almost 2 years in recovery, and in recovery from sugar since January with a some planned meals off. Some of our weaknesses have a higher price than others. Yes, I'm a carb (sweet stuff especially) addict too. We're all in a good place now to help each other!

And I really don't see how starting this week is cheating - Twit and ohwhat - there are lots of people from previous bootcamps that eat low carb, at least most of the time, as a way of life - hopefully in a few short weeks that's how you will feel too. So forgive us for not stopping so we can 'all start together'. I wished I'd got into LC months, years ago but I was and am glad for those who can model this being their daily eating habits, and thinking habits, over months and years to me.

LittleMissDisorganized · 02/05/2014 08:46

Oh, and ImSo - you CAN turn down a free lunch and I believe you WILL be able to in a few weeks. Good luck with starting tomorrow. So many of the things I thought were reasons I discovered were excuses!

PseudoBadger · 02/05/2014 08:57

Lovely to see you LittleMiss Flowers

ForeskinHyena · 02/05/2014 09:16

Thanks LittleMiss, I felt bad after posting that I might have offended addicts (including sugar addicts!)

When someone is addicted to alcohol or drugs I tend to think "why can't you just NOT do it when you know it's bad for you" and then I go and shove a big bar of chocolate in my face, I feel so weak.

I just want to eat 'normally' and in fact I posted on a thread about mindful eating or just letting your body dictate what you want and need. Unfortunately my body is an idiot and it's been an excuse to go completely off the rails eating all manner of crap. I need to reset my mind and body and I know LC will do that.

obrigada · 02/05/2014 09:39

Morning, I would like to join you all on this bootcamp if that's ok? Going to read through the thread and prepare myself to start on Monday.

Twit · 02/05/2014 10:47

I was joking littlemiss, I have been low carb for a long while now, but am waiting for the off on Monday as 'twere. Grin before I weigh/measure myself.
