If you're interested in joining us, sign up here. Bootcamp lasts for 10 weeks, and starts with two strict weeks, before you move on to Bootcamp Light for the remaining 8 weeks.

You aren't allowed to eat:

potatoes
pasta
rice/noodles
bread
sugar
flour

And for the first two weeks you can't eat fruit or drink alcohol

The idea behind Bootcamp is that whilst it should be strict (and therefore, hopefully, work!) that it should also be easy - therefore there is no weighing or counting of anything. Just ten rules that you need to follow.

So if you're interested - put your name down here!

Hate to break it to everyone but I went to morrisons yesterday and I couldn't find cauliflower rice, nor could I find it online. Is it frozen?

I too cannot be arsed with the faff - made a tofu thai red curry last night but ended up going without the rice and have saved the cauliflower for sunday dinner...

ImSoOverIt · 04/05/2014 10:36

I think I am in ketosis already, even though I only started yesterday - is this possible? I did go for a 7 mile run yesterday. This morning dd (age 3) got into bed with me and said "Mummy your breath smells nice like strawberries" so I am guessing there is a sweet smell on my breath! (eww)

Still very hungry though, will this pass? I had two eggs, and 2 quorn bacon rashers with lots of mushrooms cooked in loads of butter but could still happily eat more!

FelixFelix · 04/05/2014 10:36

Thank you for the suggestions! Cream and vanilla essence or coconut cream mixed in sound good. Will give them a try. I'm not keen on hot food for breakfast (I'm weird Grin) and there's never any leftovers to reheat as DP is a bottomless pit!

OverIt I usually just have curry with roasted broccoli or roasted cauli. Id be over the moon with ready made cauli rice though if I can find it!

ImSoOverIt · 04/05/2014 10:46

Yes do try coconut cream felix - I bought it to make the thai red curry as it was lower carb than coconut milk, but then discovered it was really sweet and delicious despite being low carb, and really reduced the tartness of the yogurt when mixed in. You can buy it in UHT cartons so I am definitely going to keep a few in the cupboard both for cooking with and mixing with yogurt for brekkie.

Hello everyone
im quite pleased to of stumbled on this thread as I was planning on starting low carbing tomorrow too.
Went to aldi yesterday and brought loads of veg so im prepared and ready to go

NeverHadANickname · 04/05/2014 11:02

I've put my name on the other thread but I'm actually quite nervous! I normally eat loads of carbs and not much protein so this will be interesting. I've been going cold turkey with pasta for the last couple of months so hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult. I have loads of pork in anyway so I'm hoping I can just roast a joint every so often and live of that through the week with salad or whatever I'm allowed!

I normally work better with a strict diet anyway rather than not knowing what to eat.

lizziesnips · 04/05/2014 11:18

Just added my name, been heavy for such a long time, need to lose @ 40 lbs. work 12 hour shifts, days and nights so really need the support. Looking forward to this.
What happens when you have a day or weekend away, have a wedding in 3 weeks and won't have control of meals for 2 to 3 days?

feesh · 04/05/2014 11:24

Hi everyone, I've had a bit of a head start as I spontaneously decided to give up carbs cold-turkey on Thursday and it was when doing some reading up on it that I found Bootcamp and joined, so it's great to have people to share it with and to have BIWI's excellent knowledge to help me. I've found it surprisingly easy, considering what a carby twat I was even this time last week!

I really don't want to give up my morning mug or two of tea and I have it very milky - is it OK if I still have it, but with Lactofree milk, which I presume has less lactose and therefore less sugar and therefore less carbs in it? I checked the label and it's 2.8g of carbs per 100ml, so is this OK?

Right, back to my lovely plate of salami, Brie and blue cheese (am loving this WOE!).

feesh · 04/05/2014 11:27

Lizziesnips, I used to be a waitress many moons ago and no waiter would bat an eyelid if you asked the kitchen to hold the chips/mash/whatever and give you extra veg instead. At a wedding, presumably you could just give your carbs to someone else on the table? I think staying in hotels etc is pretty easy on this diet. Although it does get difficult if you're going to someone else's house for dinner. I think in that case I would just suck it up and deal with it on another day by getting back into Bootcamp.

lizziesnips · 04/05/2014 11:39

Thanks feesh, a couple of meals will be at a friends home so will do my best. the wedding meal I think will be fine, DH always happy to take what I don't want. Will find it hard to resist desert and cake though.
I will just get back onto Bootcamp the next day.
Glad to hear you have started and enjoying it.

beachestoexplore · 04/05/2014 13:04

Hi everyone, I'd like to sign up. I have been LC for a few months and lost 7lbs but the fruit and nuts have become daily treats and I am sure that I am not drinking enough water. Hoping the bootcamp will get me back on track Smile

Notsoskinnyminny · 04/05/2014 13:57

Felix I couldn't eat any yoghurt before the last BC who decided sour milk was nice so broke myself in gently by adding extra thick double cream and sprinking cinnamon on top. Now I can eat it straight from the tub and when I do add berries its too sweet.

I've just whizzed up a batch of cauli rice it keeps for 3-4 days in the fridge and freezes as well. I mix chopped mushrooms in when I fry it - the water in them stops it sticking to the pan as much.

FelixFelix · 04/05/2014 14:00

Notsoskinnyminny that sound delicious with the cinnamon. Another one to try Grin Didn't realise you could freeze cauli rice. I could just suck it up and make a few batches at once then resign my food processor back to the cupboard...

trashcanjunkie · 04/05/2014 14:01

lizzie this might sound utterly bizarre, but one of my main techniques when faced with a plate of food I have had no input/control over is this...

I imagine I am The Terminator, you know the scene where he goes into the bar and starts looking for clothes that fit? He analyses each item and either immediately discards it or it gets the red flashy grid, if it's considered an acceptable match?

When I look down at my plate, I go into 'terminator' mode. I imagine the bleepy noise and see the red grid thingys. Instead of allowing my emotions to run amok, I just coldly decide which foods are proteins or acceptable carbs, and 'terminate' any which aren't, by either giving them away (very fucking quickly) or removing them from my plate.

Now, my reason that I give for this, to avoid discussion, criticism or conflict (which would obviously result in possible death of person challenging me, due to the fact I'm the fucking Terminator) I say that my bloody guts just can't handle this type of grub anymore, and it would be very anti social for me to eat them. If pressed, I will tell them it gives me very severe gas/cramps. In fact this is partly true, so I don't feel like a total lying shit, but have your stock response ready that brooks no discussion. Under no circumstances expect people to support you. It is sadly rare. That's what we're here for Grin

FelixFelix · 04/05/2014 14:17

Trash that's amazing Grin

FolknNorah · 04/05/2014 14:27

Just letting you know I have name changed, I was Twit
See you all tomorrow/Tuesday Smile

lizziesnips · 04/05/2014 15:13

Trash love that technique and will definitely practice that. My DH is already sceptical, especially as this WOE is so different from what I have always advised him is healthy. Lovely man that he is he will be supportive, especially if he gets passed extra potatoes at a dinner.
Great attitude, thanks so much.
