If you're interested in joining us, sign up here. Bootcamp lasts for 10 weeks, and starts with two strict weeks, before you move on to Bootcamp Light for the remaining 8 weeks.

You aren't allowed to eat:

potatoes
pasta
rice/noodles
bread
sugar
flour

And for the first two weeks you can't eat fruit or drink alcohol

The idea behind Bootcamp is that whilst it should be strict (and therefore, hopefully, work!) that it should also be easy - therefore there is no weighing or counting of anything. Just ten rules that you need to follow.

So if you're interested - put your name down here!

Today I am starting. Have no eggs in for brekkie, which is annoying, though I do have some lidl Greek natural yogurt.

I am a veggie so I will be partaking in the odd veggie product, but I do check the carb count. I have found that Quorn pieces are quite low at 1g in 100. It is either that or eat loads of cheese! And just eggs gets dull after a while. I avoid soya though as it can aggravate my Endo. I am also going to stick to sheep and goats cheese when I do partake. I am starting today but not weighing til Monday.

I too cannot imagine eating raw swede?! Shock

GatoradeMeBitch · 03/05/2014 14:54

I'm getting prepared. I drank my last Diet Coke on Thursday, so I'm going through the caffeine withdrawal headache now instead of on the 5th! I lost over a stone last time and that was with my many mistakes, so I want to commit to it fully this time and see what results I can get.

BIWI · 03/05/2014 16:12

Ah yes. Caffeine withdrawal. It's horrible! I never had carb withdrawal, thankfully, but I suffered terribly when I gave up coffee.

WhooshFuckerFairy · 03/05/2014 16:16

I am going swede ........ Grin .....

< chews cautiously > . Mmmm not bad .... Might add marmite Grin
Top tip ! Snacktastic !

ImSoOverIt · 03/05/2014 16:38

Really not feeling too clever - think the 7 mile run has put me into carb flu! But I know that once it passes I will feel fab so I'll stick it out...

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 03/05/2014 19:11

I realised just in time that DH's 30th birthday party is in two weeks so I started today. It's been ok so far. I don't love eggs but I guess I'm going to learn. Just a few questions though:

I'm bf and I've just had some cheese in my omelet. I presume that's ok as part of BC lite? If I got hungry before bed could I have a Lidl pot of natural Greek yoghurt as well?

I know we don't need to count carbs but if I wanted to, what am I aiming for, in carbs per day? And when reading food labels do I look for 3 g CHO per 100 g or is that just veg?

Thumbwitch · 03/05/2014 19:30

Whoosh - Grin

I'mSoOverIt - as I said to Whoosh, if you can eat raw carrot, you can eat raw swede. It's a lot sweeter than you'd give it credit for! But again, as I said to Whoosh, make sure you get the orangey one - I know there is a regional variation on which one is called swede and which one is called turnip - so ignore the white one and get the orange one :)

Socially - cheese is fine for lots of people, but some people find that dairy "stalls" their ketosis state and so stalls their weight loss. I have no issue with it (thank goodness!) but I know some people do. Ditto the yoghurt.
I don't know if there's a daily carb limit on this diet, but a friend of mine who did one not dissimilar, her daily carb limit was 16g overall.
Food labels for everything, I think, should be less than 4g carb.

BIWI · 03/05/2014 19:30

Cheese is fine on Bootcamp or Bootcamp Light, as long as you don't have an issue with dairy.

And if you're hungry, then you must eat! This WOE is not about deprivation. Yoghurt is fine as long as:

a) it's full fat
b) you're mindful of how many carbs you're consuming - although I think the Lidl one is pretty low, from memory

It's impossible to tell you how many carbs you should have per day, as people vary in terms of their sensitivity. And the whole point of Bootcamp is that we don't need to count anything!

As long as you're under 50g carbs per day, and as long as the vast majority of your carbs are coming from vegetables and salad then you should be fine.

When buying prepared/processed foods (although remember we're also trying to avoid as much processed stuff as possible) anything under 4g carbs per 100g is usually OK - although obviously it depends on how much of the stuff you're going to consume!

Wow thanks for the quick answers.

My breath tastes awful so I assume it's working so far. That won't last forever, will it?

ImSoOverIt · 03/05/2014 20:34

Have just discovered a yummy pud - coconut cream mixed in with natural yogurt - yum!

ImSoOverIt · 03/05/2014 20:36

Social if your breath is bad drink more water. Helps your kidneys flush out the ketones faster so they don't build up, and also a dry mouth is a smelly one!

ImSoOverIt · 03/05/2014 21:56

I'm really hungry?! Why? I've eaten loads today and loads of fat

Saracarbonera · 03/05/2014 22:51

Hi everyone, I haven't been able to read through the thread properly, I'll have a look tomorrow when I have more time.

I've signed up and am raring to go. I low carbed before Christmas and lost two stone. Since then I've put about 7lb on and so I need to get rid of 1.5 stone in total to get down to a good weight for me.

My biggest incentive is the summer. I've got a big family holiday in July and I want to be able to wear a bikini Blush I'm really determined to do it!

If I lose this 1.5 stone I'll be 3 stone lighter than last summer

What I'm most worried about is giving up sugar, I'm a total addict!

CockBollocks · 03/05/2014 22:57

How long does it usually take to go into ketosis?

Also, anyone ever suffer with bizarre smelling wee - sorry tmi!

BIWI · 03/05/2014 22:59

ImSoOverIt - eat something else. Something high in fat.

ImSoOverIt · 03/05/2014 23:33

Solved the hunger issue with Quorn frankfurters (x3Shock) dipped in dijonnaise...

Thumbwitch · 04/05/2014 01:09

CB (got round that one! Grin) - yes, I did! It stopped after a while though.

lavenderhoney · 04/05/2014 09:31

Hello, I'd like to put my name down please!

I've been lc for over a year but need to keep on track and I know the bc camp thread is a busy enough place to distract me:)

Lighthousekeeping · 04/05/2014 09:33

On two days into in and my period starts. Every single time I'm on this diet I have two periods a month!

The cauliflower rice in Morrissons really hits the spot. 2.8g of carbs, does that sound ok? It's only what the homemade stuff would have I'm guessing.

ForeskinHyena · 04/05/2014 09:34

Got a big family dinner tomorrow and DP said perhaps i should wait until Tuesday to start. He was impressed with my resolve when I said no, Monday it is! I could make excuses all the time, so I'm starting as I mean to go on.

'Fortunately' I have had a tummy bug this weekend, so also starting off completely empty and with nausea, which will help no end!

BIWI · 04/05/2014 09:47

With Bootcamp - because it's strict - you should go into ketosis quite quickly. Certainly by the end of two weeks you ought to have switched your body from carb-burning to fat burning, meaning that you are 'keto-adapted'

Bad breath is a key sign that you are in ketosis - and thankfully it doesn't last very long! - secret is to drink more water. If it's really bad, you can try sugar-free gum/mints (just remember they have artificial sweeteners in them, to try to keep them to the minimum)

FelixFelix · 04/05/2014 10:00

Morrisons do cauli rice?! That's great. I like it but hate making it as I can't be arsed getting out/cleaning my massive food processor.

I usually have Greek yog with berries for my breakfast. What else could I have with my yoghurt that doesn't break the no fruit rule? I'm not massively keen on it plain. I usually have yoghurt as it's quick and easy and I've really gone off eggs recently. Don't fancy having anything else. Help!

Thumbwitch · 04/05/2014 10:19

Felix, I found that mixing the Greek yog with double cream and a couple of drops of vanilla essence really helped to make it more palatable. :)

antimatter · 04/05/2014 10:23

FelixFelix - really difficult to suggest replacement for berries...
are you eating it on the go, can you reheat something in the microwave?
being Sunday - I boiled some broccoli and had it mixed with finely chopped cold pulled pork

I am thinking of boiling some veg every 2 days in the evening to have some next day for breakfast and lunch (reheating it first) and having 2-3more containers each with chopped egg, chicken breast, pork, canned tuna, poached salmon, smoked mackerel,

so I can help myself to whatever I fancy to make 2 containers of food for next day to take to work - mixing some butter in it if appropriate - then reheating in the microwave and eat warm.

I think veg can be (in my case) boiled: frozen spinach, broccoli, cabbage, red cabbage (if I have time to prepare it and perhaps freeze leftover), green beans

raw - grated carrots, avocado, pepper

I think combinations of all 3 above would make fairly varied food

I need to make my own mayo soon!

ImSoOverIt · 04/05/2014 10:28

Felix - yesterday I mixed coconut cream (found in asian food section ) with greek yogurt and it was truly yummy.
