Week 8 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Last Three Weeks!

I'm starting next week's thread a bit early as I have to be up and out of the house at sparrow's crack tomorrow.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the weight tracker

It may seem like we're nearly at the end, but still the chance to lose up to another half a stone, if you can lose 2lbs a week!

Hope everyone has a good week. Mine is a bit of a minefield - out tomorrow night to celebrate both of my DCs' birthdays, and then out on Thursday with some MNetter friends, and I don't think we will be drinking sparkling water!

Good luck everyone. Flowers

Twit - what's to stop you eating more salad? Hmm That's perfectly good low carb food! And you can eat berries, if you're hankering after fruit.

Look - every now and then, there's nothing to stop you eating whatever your want - even the strip of Dairy Milk - as long as it doesn't escalate into full-scale carby twatness Grin

Someone much wiser than me once said 'this is a marathon not a sprint' - and if we're in it for the long haul, then we need to do whatever we can to make sure we enjoy the journey (to spout a cliche!)

Hi all!

I'm starting (again) tomorrow :) I was here last year under another name and did well, so know I need to jump back on. Gave up in the summer and have put 7lbs back on :( Luckily, have kept the majority off though - but I have a looooong way to go yet.

Is Timidviper still here? Off to read the last couple of threads & look forward to joining you all officially tomorrow :)

Kefybaby · 08/03/2014 20:38

Thanks so much for taking the time to provide all this very helpful information, Thumb and LittleMiss. You mentioned a few things I was not aware of. I do suffer from familial hypercholesterolemia indeed and have been referred, rightly or wrongly, to a metabolism expert.

BIWI · 08/03/2014 21:33

Everything - welcome back! Timid is still here, but under a namechange. She is Pisci something or other - still has a viper in her name

CalamityKate well done - you've done really well!

Good luck with the keeping on Twit. I think the broken sleep can't be helping - getting a good night's sleep is meant to be good for losing weight.

Marsha I think the fact that your belly has gone says it all really. The hip-waist ratio is meant to be such a good indicator of heart disease/diabetes risk - ie if your tum is bigger than your hips, that's not good. It sounds like low-carb has reduced your stomach circumference and that is really important health-wise.

EverythingIsAwesome · 08/03/2014 21:55

Thanks Biwi. Exactly a year ago, I did an 8 hour zumbathon while LCing, and with the support of all you ladies :)

BIWI · 08/03/2014 21:59

Aha! Funnily enough, I was just searching your (old) name this afternoon, trying to find out where you were!

OP posts:
EverythingIsAwesome · 09/03/2014 08:21

Glad to be back :) I gave up LCing when I started college as I thought it would be too hard (excuses!) but know I prefer this woe.

Off to a yummy start, egg, mushrooms, 1 bacon and 2 sausages. The sausages I found in the co-op are 0.6g carbs per 2 sausages, and very tasty.

MarshaBrady · 09/03/2014 08:55

Thanks Eva that's really good to know.

SayraT · 09/03/2014 09:19

Got new battery for the scales but I am not convinced that it was the battery. I think it might be the scales, apparently I now weigh more than I did at the start of LCing Grin I don't. OH also still weighs 10 stone on these so it is definitely wrong. I can tell if he goes over 9 stone never mind 10!!

I am just going to ignore the scales for a bit and record the same weight on the spreadsheet, I'll just make sure that I log my meals as that helps keep me on track.

Last night we were out for a meal with my parents, unfortunately it was Chinese but it was a buffet so I ate mostly roast chicken, veggies in blackbean sauce and prawns. I did have a couple of breaded things but not many.

Today's Food

B: Coffee with cream, bacon and egg
L: Depends if I am hungry or not after breakfast
D: Pork ribs, I've rubbed them with spices already and they are marinating

StuntNun · 09/03/2014 09:34

How do you cook the ribs Sayra? Mine often come out quite tough.

EverythingIsAwesome · 09/03/2014 11:00

Stuntnun, trying doing them in a slow cooker, the meat just melts.

SayraT · 09/03/2014 11:22

stunt I tried to reply twice but post kept disappearing!

I've only made them once and I just stuck them in the oven in a dish, I'm not very good at following recipes etc so I just cook things "until they are done" so couldn't tell you how long or what temperature I cooked them at. I do the same with quantities, fling it in until it looks right Grin

I might do these ones in the slow cooker and try it that way.

EverythingIsAwesome · 09/03/2014 11:46

Has anyone got a bbq sauce recipe that's low carb?

Thumbwitch · 09/03/2014 12:04

Evening losers! Well it is for me, anyway. Been a wee bit bad today, had 4 lines of G&B choc, because it's been a VERY trying day.
First, DH discovered a rat living behind the cooker/kitchen units. He killed and removed it (good so far) but then felt the need to keep pulling at the cooker. He also went into the loftspace and came down ranting about the poo up there - could be rats, mice or possums, or indeed a combination (ugh) - anyway, he finally shifted the oven, which clonked onto the floor and bang! the electricity tripped out. No idea why, the oven was unplugged - but something happened. Couldn't reset the tripswitch, so had to go round the house switching everything off. STILL wouldn't reset so DH isolated various areas, and then managed to reset it; but there is no power in one quadrant of the house, including thelaundry, two bedrooms and the living room. I've had to resort to using my tablet so typing is slow and a bit shit.

We'll call the electrician in the morning but I'm worried thatvrats have chewed cables in the wall and they're the problem; which could be messy to fix. :(

Wish the worry would take a couple more lbs off me...

EverythingIsAwesome · 09/03/2014 12:05

Haven't managed to read the whole thread yet - but has anyone tried the new salted caramel green tea? It is lovely!

EverythingIsAwesome · 09/03/2014 12:07

Sorry to hear of your crap time Thumbwitch :(

trashcanjunkie · 09/03/2014 12:08

morning ish all. Just checking in, I have been keeping up with the thread, just about, but rl has taken up far too much of my mnettting time this week Grin

I had some sneaky weigh ins today and yesterday, and seem to be 6 pounds down this week Grin that's 9 pounds over two weeks! Can't fuckin' believe it, so chuffed after almost two months of nixy!

whooshy I totally think it was portion size/mr porky/snacking - I have even had cups of tea with full fat milk (one or two per day) and a bit of yoghurt and cream here and there. I've avoided cheese cos I have no off switch, and have been much more mindful of my protein piles. I can obviously overeat on this woe very easily out of habit, so I have had to exercise huge discipline.

I'm also only drinking three plus litres of water daily - so far so good. This feels awesome, like it's supposed to.

Although we are approaching the finish, I'm definitely in this for the long haul.

Hello to all the newbies and shout outs to snowie crabby eva skinny twitty et al

ds has been accepted onto something called 'the gateway' which is the councils young persons emergency housing service. He is waiting for a place at a specialist supported accommodation hostel. It sounds scary but I actually think it will be an improvement from his current 'abode' and I understand what they are like, as I lived in one when I was 16 and left home. The staff can be amazing, and he also has me to support him. He is keen as mustard to get into his own place, which can happen anything from six months to two years depending on his coping skills. Here's to hoping.

Now I must go and do some bastard housework. I'm having extremely exciting shit happen in the front room tomorrow. I may have already blethered about this, but hey ho! I have designed a ginormous window seat, with day beds extending down either side - think caravan living area stylee - we are also screwing a new top onto the old table to create a 'super' table, which will fill the area - again, think caravan but much more loungy and comfy and excellent. We are doing this for less than two hundred quid, and it's going to transform my bloody life I tells ya! Grin In fact, I am gonna take some before and after pics. I'll put them on my profile. Biggest love to all

Lighthousekeeping · 09/03/2014 12:46

Can't believe I've started my period again. That's four in eight weeks!Shock

StuntNun · 09/03/2014 12:47

EverythingIsAwesome Marks's Daily Apple barbecue sauce is the shiz!

Suzymoo9 · 09/03/2014 12:50

Why does 1 lb go on so quick and take soooo long to come off?

Why are the slimmest women in my class able to eat confectionery with their midday coffee and I just look at it and put on weight?

It's sooooo unfair!

Hello I'm still here keeping on keeping on. Weight loss has really slowed down but I am continuing to be as good as I can in a realistic long term kind of way Grin

EverythingIsAwesome · 09/03/2014 13:04

Lighthousekeeping, I had a 12 day period on my last Bootcamp journey, when I hadnt had any in the previous 11 years! Its the one downside to this woe, but it does settle. I think it is because when fat cells shrink, the let go of the eostrogen too? so we get a rush of it to start with.

Stuntnun, thank you!

Just had a gorgeous lunch of crayfish tail salad.

BIWI · 09/03/2014 13:08

I feel your pain, Suzymoo!

Best thing is to ignore other people. Try as hard as you can. It's not a competition, after all.

Keeping on keeping on is the best advice.

Did I tell you I'm off to meet my younger than me friends in Camden today? It's going to be a huge challenge not drinking pints of cider to fit in with them!

CalamityKate · 09/03/2014 13:29

I think I'm going to start weighing only on Sundays after a Saturday night out.

I'm renowned for my frequent loo visits when I drink alcohol so I'm always at my lightest the following Sunday morning.

I weighed yesterday morning - 10st 13.5lb. Waist measured 31 inches.
This morning - 10st 11lb. Waist 29.5 inches.

Yeah I know its because after a drinking session - and associated extreme weeing - my body is almost entirely fluidless (I've drunk about 2l of water already today and I still haven't had a wee; I must be soaking it up like a dry sponge Grin ) but it's lovely to see!
