Week 8 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Last Three Weeks!

BIWI · 02/03/2014 22:07

I'm starting next week's thread a bit early as I have to be up and out of the house at sparrow's crack tomorrow.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the weight tracker

It may seem like we're nearly at the end, but still the chance to lose up to another half a stone, if you can lose 2lbs a week!

Hope everyone has a good week. Mine is a bit of a minefield - out tomorrow night to celebrate both of my DCs' birthdays, and then out on Thursday with some MNetter friends, and I don't think we will be drinking sparkling water!

Good luck everyone. Flowers

I wrote a reply on my phone when I was at work but it doesn't seem to be here so here it is now:

kylie no big poo needed....I'd already done that before I weighed Smile

please, captain and whoosh yeah I think I will get a new battery but will weigh tomorrow to see what it says. I am really concerned what the scales say cause I know they are wrong. For a start if I had put that on I wouldn't be able to do my jeans up Grin

LMD scales always in same place on laminate so not that either, glad the tooth is feeling better today Thanks

eva colleague is very embarrassed but we are all just joking about it i.e. "is it safe for me to be here with you or are you going to touch me inappropriately?" or other telling him to keep his hands to himself Grin The whole group found it very funny, particularly because this man is the most polite, gentlemanly man in our group.

Just back from pole class, think I am improving already which is good. Hungry now so off to eat a babybel then bedtime. See you all in the morning Smile Night night.

CrabbySpringyBottom · 07/03/2014 09:22

Hello lovely Campers. Smile I have been keeping up with the thread but haven't had the chance to post much. Also I think I've been all talked out tbh - DD hasn't stopped talking since she got back, which is lovely but a bit of a change after a month of lots of silence. Grin

Keepon I'll look into the sudocreme, thanks for that. Thanks too to Thumb - I might pop her down to the GP and see if a dermatology referral is in order.

Whoosh no swimming for me just yet as too lazy and hairy but maybe next week? [coward] Blush Are you giving your new cossie its inaugural outing today? Hope you have a good swim if so.

Happy Friday everyone.

LittleMissDisorganized · 07/03/2014 09:27

This is very quiet for this thread! Hope everyone is ok. StuntNun and thumbwitch I do love your enthusiasm for knowledge - like most of my kind, crammed what I could for exams and promptly forgot it all. And so Volek and Phinney is currently proving a revelation to me.

I am hosting Afternoon Tea on Sunday with some close friends and starting baking later on. I know some would disagree with this in theory, so I won't go on about it, but am doing a Low Carb Gourmet recipe and two others - holding on to the knowledge that what I've achieved so far is more important than cake.
Hope everyone has a good day!

HumphreyCobbler · 07/03/2014 09:30

Hello everyone

Just popped in to say I have been keeping up with the thread and wish you all a very nice low carb Friday.

Have stuck to the plan mostly, except for falling face first into a 250g bag of pistacio nuts yesterday. This came about because I had not planned my meals properly. It is getting quite tough in this house, DD and DS generally won't eat stuff like celeriac/swede and since the flu DH is not managing to eat stuff with fat Normally he is v keen on low carb food but we have come to an arrangement that he cooks for himself as I CANNOT cook for three diff sorts of eating and look after a baby who won't be put down. yesterday I may have stropped off upstairs leaving HIM to hold the baby and cook the meal

LittleMissDisorganized · 07/03/2014 09:35

X post Crabby glad the chattering crablet is well! Didn't say re scars as you had so many answers, but they may well scar. I have enormous lower leg scarring (but at least mine was for a good purpose, grrr still that it even happened) and should have shares in Bio Oil. It's helped it fade, but your DD is 20 years younger than me so it may do far better. But nothing, not sudocreme or anything else should go on til they're completely healed and dry - I can't tell from your picture if they are or not?

Belatedly coming on to register that I STS Sad

More water and less healthy Wink chocolate methinks Grin

sweetiepie1979 · 07/03/2014 13:24

Ok I can't stop eating sausages! And eggs! What else can I have for breakfast? Also is this basically Atkins diet? Because I have the book should I just follow it? And can u have natural yoghurt? And celeriac? In the firs2 weeks? And what is ubercamp? Sorry about all the questions and thank you x

monkeyfacegrace · 07/03/2014 14:59

Oh. My. God.

Why havent I discovered linseed before now?!

100g linseed meal, 2 eggs, grated cheese. Mix. Spread over pizza stone.

Top with tomato purree, spinach, chorizo and cheese.

Ive just eaten the entire pizza, am stuffed, it tasted amazing!

So excited about my discovery. And its £1.99 a bag in Aldi!

BIWI · 07/03/2014 15:16

sweetie - have you read Bootcamp rules?

Go the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and look at the tabs at the bottom, and you'll find the rules there.

OP posts:
captainmummy · 07/03/2014 15:20

sweetie - have you read the Rules (at the top, under the spreadsheet etc). It is not Atkins, I think Atkins is stricter and lower-carb.

You can have natural yog (a good breakfast!) so long as it is full-fat, and low carb - some are higher than others. Lidl Greek yog is lush, and only 3.5g/100 - try to keep under 5g/100 in all things!

Celeriac = good.
Ubercamp is also on the spreadsheet tabs. basically its a low-carb, non-dairy 3-day diet-sheet. I use it to cut back to basics, and it helps to remove a few stubborn lbs - when you are near to target.

Breakfast - eggs, bacon and sausages (not every day) plain yog, with or without flaxseed. My breakfast these days is Rooibos tea (black) with coconut oil - filling and lots of lovely fat! Or leftovers from dinner - no need to have a 'special' menu for this meal.

captainmummy · 07/03/2014 15:23

X-post BIWI! Grin
Monkeyface - that reminds me of the linseed crackers; 100g milled linseed per egg (multiply as needed) flavour with cheese/chili/herbs etc. Roll thinly (between silicon paper is easiest) and bake until golden. Leave to harden. Lovely with cheese, pate, marmite
Pity too much linseed stalls me...

HeirToTheIronThrone · 07/03/2014 15:28

It is glorious here in Dorset so have abandoned my planned veg soup and had a very nice Caesar salad with chicken instead (Sainsbury's dressing is around 3g carbs/100g, I thought that was ok?)

Now worried my hearty beef and celeriac dauphinose I am feeding to my guests this weekend is far too wintery!

Bowie how's the Shred going? I found it slightly more bearable today!

WhooshFuckerFairy · 07/03/2014 15:35

Well - yes crabby new gel bra cossie had its first outing today and apart from scuttling from the changing rooms to get into the water without being seen - it was rather nice - I felt weightless in the water and really rather enjoyed it - I only did 10 lengths and was knackered, but then I was brave enough to sit in the jacuzzi bit and it was bliss. ( gel cossie a bit weird to wring out though - blew up like a pillow Grin

I went on a shopping expedition yesterday to the big city ( Bristol) - I am a rural type at heart so Bristol seems big and scary ! I found myself in a fabulous jeans section of house of fraser and tried on no less than 30 pairs of jeans - with the help of a knowledgable jean lady..... but found a miracle pair ( 7 something) which cost me more than a months food budget for 5 people slight exaggeration , but they were expensive. However I feel fab and I no longer have jeans that embarrass DD1&2 ( DD3 too youg to care that Mummy has been wearing bootcut jeans!)

Biwi, I know we drew a line under it a long time ago - but I remember you saying that changing room mirrors gave you a kick up the metaphorical bum a while ago - well after yesterday I am feeling the same - must keep on keeping on - all thinner in the mirrors - but lots of saggy bits that seemed to need TUCKING IN !! Must do whatever I can about that !

heir thankyou for the service stations tips - survived on babybels x5 yesterday on way to Bris.

Thankyou to stunt and thumb for answering hogwash questions and debating yesterday - I did read but almost had my fingers in my ears thinking positive happy thoughts - and not reading HW's wobble _ i need to keep positive I think. ( apols HW if you are reading - no offence meant)

Also - went to Dr's yesterday re permanent period..... have been given tabs to stop bleeding and sent for some cervical investigations and / or uterine biopsy sounds hideous . At least all being sorted.

How do you do the trademark sign ?

Happy Friday to all.

Piscivorus · 07/03/2014 17:02

I weigh on a Friday and have felt thinner all week so yesterday could wait no longer, snuck onto the scales and had lost 3lb. I was very happy. This morning I got up and thought I would weigh again just to bask in the glory of knowing how much I had lost and I've put 2 of the buggers back on without even cheating! Angry

Crabby Agree with LittleMiss the lesions must be healed and my personal opinion is to try BioOil or similar, not Sudocrem as that is very thick and sticky so could drag the skin.

WhooshFuckerFairy · 07/03/2014 17:19

crabby might be worth an appt with a dermatologist - am sure GP would refer or a private consultation wouldnt cost the earth and may just make sure you are doing the best things . X

monkeyfacegrace · 07/03/2014 17:37

Why would linseed stall you?! Isn't it virtually free Confused

monkeyfacegrace · 07/03/2014 17:38

I think I may become obsessed with it. Crackers spread with pate

SayraT · 07/03/2014 18:58

Good news! Grin

My OH who is very slim and never changes weight stood on the scales tonight. He normally weighs ~8 stone 12 lbs and has never weighed more than 9 stone for the 10 years I've been with him weighed 10 stone on my scales.

New batteries I think.#

Attempting cauli pizza tonight, OH having normal pizza.

Notsoskinnyminny · 07/03/2014 19:29

God you lot are quiet this week, I've had a couple of late finishes at work so only been able to lurk on my phone and DD decided she was coming home from uni for the weekend so I've just done a 20 mile round crawl trip to pick her up from the station but better than 100 miles if I was a nice mum and picked her up so I've only just got home.

Whoosh I love 7 for mankind jeans, I've had mine for years so they probably work out at 5p per wear but they're a bit extremely snug now and I have to wear them with flats whereas I wore them with 4" heels and a belt when I bought them but they're bootcut so does that mean I can't wear them any more Confused DDs not into mainstream fashion so I can't trust her to tell me what's in or out.

BTW hope the tests don't find anything sinister Thanks

Sayra you could log the dodgy weight and then next week you'll be the biggest loser Grin

captain those crackers sound delicious, I'm really missing crisps especially when DH chomps them next to me at night.

Woolfey ouch! I hope you didn't have glitter all over your mouth when you got to the dentist

LMD hope the afternoon tea goes well - what are you cooking? I made a low carbish carrot cake for DHs birthday because for me life still goes on and there are times that are important to others when this WOE has to take second place. I only had a little bit to be sociable but he was chuffed to bits that I'd made it.

crabby enjoy the crablet while she's chatty, after nattering nonstop in the car and a short play with psychopup DDs now catching up with all the trashy shows she sky+s which is why I'm getting my MN fix Grin

Kefybaby · 07/03/2014 19:59

I think I will have to abandon this WOE. I got my blood test results back and my cholesterol was over 10 Shock!!
I was hoping to prove the Briffa theory regarding cholesterol right but my already high levels have got even higher. My problem is that now I do not know what to eat anymore... I think I will stay away from pasta, white rice, potatoes, biscuits, cakes etc but I will cut down on dairy and reintroduce some pulses, fruit and more carby veg.
I have managed to get back to my pre-babies weight thanks to the bootcamp, which I am grateful for and I have really appreciated everyone's support (special thanks to BIWI).
My problem is genetic so it does not mean that others will necessarily have the same issue.
Good luck to everyone in the coming weeks.

StuntNun · 07/03/2014 20:34

Whoosh the wobbly bits take longer to shrink than the fat takes to disappear but they will reduce over time. My tummy looked awful after I lost weight at first - like I had just given birth and it was suddenly empty but it came back in eventually. I still have some loose bits so I have taken up a bit of exercise to try and tone up those areas. Apparently you can do a lot for your tummy by building up your abdominal muscles.

WhooshFuckerFairy · 07/03/2014 21:15

sayra - that's going to be a humungous whitish Grin ! You're hubby sounds like a very slim Jim !

Thanks notsoskinny am sure all tests will be ok - I feel in fine health apart from the permaperiod . As for bootcut jeans - please don't take my Dd1&2's word for it - they are 17&15 girls from deepest Somerset - hardly fashionistas ! I was just keeping the peace - but infact the 7 jeans are gorgeous .

stunt I hear you on the wobbly bit department - my fit ball has come out and I am going to start a few things each day - whilst liberally applying the bio oil !

WhooshFuckerFairy · 07/03/2014 21:15

Whitish ?? Why would my phone think I would want to write that ?? I meant whoosh !
