Morning all!

I see several of you have already weighed in on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

As of today, though, we also have our bright, shiny, new Bootcamp section on Mumsnet, including our own Weight Tracker, which will only show your own weight/progress.

You can either use the Spreadsheet as we have done before, which everyone has access to and can see, or you can go here and enter your weight.

Obviously you can do both!

When you're in the new Bootcamp, if you click on the tab that says 'more info' that will take you to a section which has loads of information about low carbing, as well as Bootcamp Rules

Before we get going formally, I have to make an important disclaimer:

I am not a doctor, a medic, a scientist, a nutritionist or a dietician. I have no formal training in food, dieting or low carbing. The information that I provide here is based solely on my reading on the subject, as well as my own experience. If you have any kind of medical condition and/or you are taking any kind of ongoing medication, you should consult your GP before starting a low carb diet

That done, good luck everyone!

Posted my question on the questions thread, which I just found Blush

Notso I've been feeling sick and headachey all day. Am hoping it is the carb flu in a way because I've only just got over a horrible fluey bug that floored me last week - I don't need another! I had to have a lie down this afternoon, felt distinctly wobbly. Meh. Onwards with the water!

Chipping thanks for that. Our neighbours always give us the world's biggest box of shortbread for a present - seriously, it was a foot cube in measurement - and in previous year's I've given them away but DH moaned so this year we kept hold of it and only finished it on Sunday night - I think my blood was 4 parts shortbread by then, so it's not surprising that I'm suffering now Envy

Lovecat · 14/01/2014 18:29

aargh rogue apostrophe in years' !

teaandthorazine · 14/01/2014 18:39

I'm feeling the carb flu for the first time, too. Think it's definitely because of the sugar-fest that was Xmas.

Then again, my nose is running and my ears are aching, so... I could just be ill!

Either way, paracetamol, water and it will pass soon!

PseudoBadger · 14/01/2014 18:43

I was good today at the Crepe and Ice Cream Cafe - I just had a coffee. I asked for a black coffee with milk on the side, but they brought me a reasonably small cappuccino (!) so I drank it. Never mind eh.
Lunch was left over bolognese (I was going to have that again tomorrow but the bloody dog stole it!!) with salad and dressing; dinner will be chicken, mushrooms and prosciutto in a creamy sauce with broccoli and spinach.

projectbabyweight · 14/01/2014 19:00

Supersalstrawberry - I've just recovered after 3 years of insomnia, pm me if you'd like some bossy advice Wink

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 14/01/2014 19:30

Miig, don't worry! Not everyone gets "carb flu" when they first start LC - I am one of them! I felt a bit tired for a couple of days (well, a bit more than I usually did!) but that was it.

My issue was constipation, frankly, poor BIWI and Willie suffered about a week of my daily no-poo reports! However, water till I was pee-ing like a carthorse on cocaine, upping my walking, a vit c tablet and a stonking black coffee sorted me out!

Well done Pseudobadger.

Chippin - guernsey double cream is 3. 6 carbs so is that too high should I swap ? ( don't really want to)

Well I went to M and S today to use the £5 voucher and spent £50 on mainly low carb stuff Shock some fruit for the kids !
Although I bought packs of chicken bits and two flavored ones ( Mexican and piri piri ) which seem ok on the crab score but do have some sugar in - are they ok ?

B - ham, smoked salmon and mascarpone

L - m and s side salad and egg mayo sandwich filler

D - roast crispy breast of lamb with cauli cheese and broccoli with butter

2.5 liters water and 2 cups of tea

Just checking in.... Scales are showing a downward trend but for the past 2 days I have been soooooo hungry!
Not sure why as have been low carbing (again after Xmas indulgence) 2nd Jan.... Snacking on low carb things, cheese, cold meats etc but hope this passes soon Sad

BIWI · 14/01/2014 20:15

Don't worry if you don't have carb flu - just be thankful you're one of the lucky ones! I never had it. Caffeine withdrawal, on the other hand ...

BIWI · 14/01/2014 20:16

flucketycluck - are you eating enough fat?

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/01/2014 20:17

And gin withdrawal?

Ssssshooockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkingggggggggggg Confused

flucketycluck · 14/01/2014 20:26

Hi Biwi,
I think so... Normally have total yoghurt for breakfast, chicken thighs (no skin tho as I don't like the texture when cold...) with salad leaves & chilli oil, olives & a good dollop of mayo for lunch, then buttery veg (normally cauliflower) with protein for tea. Last night had a gammon steak & ate the fat, tonight had a filet of basa with a fried egg. Snacks have been turkey slices with ff philadelphia, some cheddar cheese a peperami (not ideal I know....)
I'm not a big fan of eggs so fried is the only way I like to eat them & I don't normally have breakfast until I get to work as I go to the gym first thing in the mornings

flucketycluck · 14/01/2014 20:28

I even had 3 coffees today with double cream Grin

scratchviolet · 14/01/2014 20:28

Hello everyone - just checking in. Finding this woe a joy so far.

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs
Lunch - chicken salad
Dinner - bacon, swede and brussel sprout mash

But really struggling to drink much water - does anyone have tips for upping the amount you drink

LucyVFood · 14/01/2014 20:31

You all sound so focused! I think I'm getting cold so am a bit off but still:

B: Sausage and egg
L: Roast pork salad with mayo
D: Chicken with creamy cauliflower rice, spinach and mushrooms

I wasn't going to do a pic cos it doesn't look all that, but it was lovely and creamy and gorgeous so to hell with it.

LucyVFood · 14/01/2014 20:33

Scratch I drink fruit tea and I think that counts towards water. I could be wrong though. I take a two litre bottle of still to work and then drink sparkling at home for a treat Wink

flucketycluck · 14/01/2014 20:36

Scratch- I always have a 1ltr bottle with me: in the car, on my desk, at home & just keep drinking it....

teaandthorazine · 14/01/2014 20:45

Channel 4 Dispatches on Monday 20th: 'Are you addicted to sugar?'

Could be interesting! At least the sugar message is getting through, slowly. Bet they still demonise the lovely fat, though...

Yama · 14/01/2014 20:50

Evening all. Dh has tried to tempt me with a glass of wine but I've been strong. Grin

Today, I've had:

B - Scrambled eggs
S - Polish sausage
L - Salad with cheese and smoked sausage
D - Roast beef with savoy cabbage

I did sneak another sausage after dinner. Bloody hell, I've definitely overdone it on the sausages today.

scratchviolet · 14/01/2014 20:51

Fruit tea might be an idea - my bottle of water just stays unopened all day. I might try a 'drink' alarm on my phone every hour!

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 14/01/2014 20:55

I love seeing photos of people's food! It's somehow more inspiring than seeing a list.
