Morning all!

I see several of you have already weighed in on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

As of today, though, we also have our bright, shiny, new Bootcamp section on Mumsnet, including our own Weight Tracker, which will only show your own weight/progress.

You can either use the Spreadsheet as we have done before, which everyone has access to and can see, or you can go here and enter your weight.

Obviously you can do both!

When you're in the new Bootcamp, if you click on the tab that says 'more info' that will take you to a section which has loads of information about low carbing, as well as Bootcamp Rules

Before we get going formally, I have to make an important disclaimer:

I am not a doctor, a medic, a scientist, a nutritionist or a dietician. I have no formal training in food, dieting or low carbing. The information that I provide here is based solely on my reading on the subject, as well as my own experience. If you have any kind of medical condition and/or you are taking any kind of ongoing medication, you should consult your GP before starting a low carb diet

That done, good luck everyone!

Week 1 - New Year 2014 Low Carb Bootcamp - And We're Off!

Blush Ok, I started yesterday with you all, but forgot to weigh myself until last night. (Yes I caved and bought scales ) So 156.8 lbs if a lovely loser could add that on for me for yesterday. I celebrated the new me that will be by having a bulletproof coffee, fry up, bolognese sauce ( but only a smudge of sauce for the taste obv Wink) with fried courgette and cheese. Water. Today I have had egg and leek cheesy omelette, a sausage, bit of cheese and a belly steak with loads of buttery spinach. I haven't had quite enough water yet, but will get there before bed if it kills me

Out of interest how often are we weighing or measuring in.?

MrsJoeHart · 14/01/2014 21:12

I bought a bag of soup veg the other day and today in a hurry bunged it in a pan of water with stock and herbs to make a soup today. When I started to eat it I realised there were potatoes in it, I didn't eat any, but did eat the soup. That should be ok, shouldn't it?

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 14/01/2014 21:13

No, it looks yummy Pseudo!

BIWI · 14/01/2014 21:13

NotTwit - we're weighing in every Monday. Read my OP to see the links - you can either confess all in the Spreadsheet or weigh in individually on the lovely shiny new Bootcamp Weight Tracker!

NotTwit · 14/01/2014 21:28

I followed the links, one took me to an admittedly useful veg carb list and I tried entering my weight on the fabulousness spreadsheet but my iPad won't let me. Sad I just couldn't remember when to do it sorry.

Are there any ready made soups available to us? I looked at a covent garden chicken soup which was 15 g per serving. I put it back.

ChesterDrawers · 14/01/2014 21:35

Evening all just checking I before bed. Great day, started with 6.30am spinning class Shock

B: total, cream, cinnamon, orange essence
L: tuna and boiled egg salad with LOTS of olive oil
D: pork steak fried in butter with mushroom and cream sauce, buttered courgette and leeks

I've drunk tonnes of water, a few black decafs and just had a decaf with cream - lush!

God, I hope this works.

fizzly · 14/01/2014 21:54

Hello all. Sounds like everyone is doing well. Those of you with carb flu, you have my sympathies - mine was shocking last week. Feel great now tho Grin

Today was
B 2 eggs and butter
L spinach soup with some red pepper strips, carrot batons and goats cheese on side / as snacks in afternoon
D Bolognese with some courgette 'pasta' and courgette cheese 'chips'

Onwards and downwards!

BerylStreep · 14/01/2014 22:02

Hello all. Just checking in.

HeggartyTotterington · 14/01/2014 22:05

Ooh getting lots of good food ideas, all the pics look lovely!

I started last week and even with a few blips lost 7lbs. This week is going slower but I guess that's to be expected? I've been keeping myself out of the house in the evenings (I don't have dcs - no ones getting neglected) to keep me away from crisps and/or wine...

I have to go bake a cake for a friends birthday now... Does anyone have any tips for not licking the spoon? Grin

caramelwaffle · 14/01/2014 22:06

Hello everyone.

I WANT SUGAR!

caramelwaffle · 14/01/2014 22:07

Or a gin and tonic.

But sugar more.

CiderwithBuda · 14/01/2014 22:08

Not twit - I thought that too about the veg carb list but if you try again there is a link that says 'join this bootcamp' and you click on that to put in your weight.

Liking all the food pics! Making me hungry though. Have been hungry tonight so don't think dinner was substantial enough. Had a couple of slices of cheese after and then a couple if spoonfuls of cream. Still hungry though! But am in bed now so that's that!

ChippingInWadesIn · 14/01/2014 22:10

Mary - I love mushrooms. If there is 'mushrooms' in my daily food thingy, it will be a whole (250g) punnet, fried in butter YUM I often intend to make a sauce with them... and don't get that far!! Grin I wish one of the twenty million supermarkets near me sold them cheaply Envy I'm not sure either Mary - when I'm low carbing, I shop - I empty the fridge, I shop - I empty the fridge. It's bloody £££ and that's without teens raiding it, I hate to think what your shopping bill must be like Shock

I notice things taste 'saltier' and (weirdly, because I'm still eating dairy) my sense of smell improves enormously, it's really weird.

NotTwit I think (hope) I've added you to the spreadsheet. We weigh and add new weight every Monday.

sybilfaulty · 14/01/2014 22:22

Lovely lovely cauliflower cheese. Yum.

Weigh on this am was a shocker. About 1/2 st more than I thought. Hey ho, down it goes. Have had do much water today. Herbal tea. More water. Peeing like a racehorse. Trusting it will work again. It hasn't let me down yet but I do wonder when the food is delicious and doesn't deprive me in the least. That can't be right,... Can it?

Tigglette · 14/01/2014 22:32

First proper training session of Bootcamp - I started about 10 days ago and am at that lovely point where my body is getting used to burning fat enough to exercise easily. It's like I'm able to pull energy from all over my body, don't get tired and feel so much stronger. Definitely worth giving up sugar for.

GrumpyCrossPatch · 14/01/2014 22:50

Caramel stay strong! You can do it.

This thread moves so quickly! Some yummy pictures.

B: sausage and egg muffin, small serving of total.
L: smoked salmon and prawn salad with lots of vinaigrette.
D: spaghetti Bolognaise with courgette tagliatelle.

Have also been swimming.

Have felt very virtuous today after everyone brought in Christmas chocs abs biscuits to get rid of - not a morsel passed these lips. [smug]

caramelwaffle · 14/01/2014 23:11

Thank you Grumpy

I'm making salt and vinegar crisps to take off the edge:

Curly Kale, Oil and a sprinkling of Malt salt.

GrumpyCrossPatch · 14/01/2014 23:16

They sound lovely! More ideas to pinch.

dollywould · 14/01/2014 23:43

Another one checking in before bed…

Dinner was lovely: Dh made a pork vindaloo, with courgette ribbons for me. I might have recruited him to BC - not because he wants to lose weight but because he loves the idea of being able to eat Chesterdrawers chicken without a twinge of guilt Grin Chester, you don't know what you've started… Anyway, he says he's going to start Monday Hmm

I felt absolutely knackered today. Here's to feeling rejuvenated tomorrow!

Goodnight and well done, everyone. Day two. I never thought I'd last so long Grin

CrabbyWinterBottom · 14/01/2014 23:43

Glad to see I kicked off the pictures. Grin

Food today...
Breakfast - slice of cheese and some pomodorino tomatoes
Lunch - as shown! bubble and squeak with crispy bacon
Dinner - squid puttanesca with courgette pasta
Pudding - total yoghurt with double cream, flaxseed and grated vanilla
2 teas, >2L water

ChippingInWadesIn · 14/01/2014 23:44

Sybil - can I just ask... Do you like cauliflower cheese?

Wink

Nice to see you again :) and you know it's right Hmm Grin
