Has no one beat me to it with a new thread yet?

OP posts:
Remotew · 01/05/2010 19:22

Belle, all I meant was that if I'd met someone and liked him a bit but didn't think he liked me I would say there was no spark just in case. But that's me.

thesouthsbelle · 01/05/2010 19:30

oh right, no I liked him as in was a nice bloke, good laugh etc but not sure if physically there's a spark there just yet - with other's there has been pretty much instant attraction but not so much him which is why i'm thinking just friends which is a shame as he's a lovely chap - but it's about looks as well thou to a degree (god feels so shallow saying that)

piratecat · 01/05/2010 19:40

no the shag rule rules imo !

elastamum · 01/05/2010 21:18

hi All,

Am back on line at last. Phones and internet are all broke at home - quite a common occurance where we live - doesnt help the dating though! Am visiting my mum this weekend as kids are away so no dates here!

BUT my dissapearing date popped up again last week with offer to take me out for dinner! I nearly fell off my chair!! Unfortunatley I cant do any of the dates he suggested, but we had a long chat before he went off to overseas on business again and agreed to try and find a date when he got back. I do think he is pretty straight up about being away as I know what he does and where he is going.

Doubt its going anywhere though as he is always out of the country on business and the few days a month he is back I am away! He did also say he thinks he will end up single for ever as he just isnt around enough to get a serious relationship off the ground.

Still would be nice to get the odd dinner date, he is very good company and very fit

Dominique07 · 01/05/2010 21:46

Hi everyone, this looks like a good supportive group here. Is it ok to join in?
I broke up with my bloke a few weeks ago. It is sad because, its not like something dramatic happened, I just got sick of waiting for him to change... So my ex is very unhappy but my family are all very supportive of this decision. And now my old school friend has got in touch, someone I last saw as a classmate as a teenager, and we've been talking, talking, daily.
We grew up in the same town, I fancy him, he is back home where my parents are, he has the same interests as me, he seems totally supportive with a very good outlook on life. He doesn't earn Loads of money but he seems sensible and hardworking... basically I am totally overwhelmed.
Is this all too good to be true and what is the right thing to do? I have a child and a life here, but this guy is a LONG way away. Is there any point in considering a long distance relationship and so soon after a breakup that essentially i feel was the right thing For ME.

Remotew · 01/05/2010 22:10

Very quiet on here tonight for some reason. Dom I would say no harm in arranging to meet up and see how you get on face to face. If he is so far away then try not to get to involved at this stage iyswim.

sincitylover · 01/05/2010 22:19

Waves at Eve

hi Dom - as Eve says no harm in meeting up but I would hold at arms length and give yourself a bit of spacce before starting something new. JMO

lou33 · 01/05/2010 22:30

what the other 2 said

lots of new posters recently , this is good

Dominique07 · 01/05/2010 22:39

I'll try. Its a wierd one, him being an old school friend I already know we get on.

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 02/05/2010 08:30

dom - arranged to meet up. try not to get to involved emotionally till you meet up. he could look very different to when you last met. as could you.also,... since you initiated the split with ex, you will bounce back pretty quickly.

elasta - tbh... that sounds like the very respectful, enjoyable type of casual thing we were trying to describe earlier. you wont really be able to ever have a full on live together type relationship. but every month you will do all the nice dinner /date type stuff and get some action ... really depends if this suits you. if your quite independant with a lack of time when dc are away to their dads... it is actually a pretty good arrangement. but........... careful he hasn't a wife overseas.

dont add to fb. i tell them its like reading my text messages.i only have people on their who wont take the humour the wrong way.

plus... i like to retain a little mystery.

dont reply to munters.

agree you should also fancy them. but there have been some where i wasn't sure.. and when we met in rl i thought "phwoaar"

motorola was round last night. forgot to bring my things , as was planning on finishing it last night when i got them... i'm getting pissed off. not sure i can hold off till i have the stuff back to finish it. it's really hard being nice last night. and not just being a sarky cow , this is why i hate leaving stuff in early days of relationships. but i cant very well say no when someone asks outright for something to watch/borrow after he had helped out in garden and brought over foods made specifically for my dietary requirements.

i dont think i'll accept help from any fellas i'm dating EVER again. this is a flipping nightmare.

eve - very pleased you have your head seeing athletic for what he is.

forces has been in contact. thats him out of range again till thurs/friday. he wants me to go to hanover at his expense when dc dad gets back.(seperate rooms if i haven't forgiven him and am just going as friends ) but i've said i think i'll be going to see a friend in weymouth if i do get a wkd dc free and the weather is still lovely.

thesouthsbelle · 02/05/2010 09:06

elastmum - ah give him a chance then to see where it leads to. hope you're having a nice time at home thou.

dom - hiya & welcome, I also agree with the other girls, nothing wrong with meeting for a coffee, but at the mo would do arm's lenght as well. there's no rush to go out with someone so soon and if he's genuine he'll appreciate that and wait.

juicy - what stuff is it he has? tbh usually when I split up with someone (ie xp not so much others) I said keep it all - make up toiletries, a few books few clothes couple of DVD's. nothing that I was too fussed on. so if you're not fussed then just give him his & tell him to do one. ref forces - he's really trying isn't he lol. bless him.

weymouth isn't far from here either - is in fact where I was going to go with soldier, who last night offered to come over & help with all my DIY to i'd be less stressed out with the XIL's visit. ho hum.

what's the plan for today then? am sore from y'day so think it's a jarmie day - was going to car boot it but not sure I can be assed.

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 02/05/2010 10:49

weather is finally nice here. but dd is choked with cold. so think we'll take a drive so she can have a nap and me and ds aren't demented stuck indoors with her.

belle - it's my favourite hoodie he borrowed to go home one night he arrived without jacket (my hoodies are all huge guy ones for kicking around in[smile), and blu ray dvd's. which are a fortune. and i really begrudge losing.

forces - yup. def trying.

iamfabregasted · 02/05/2010 11:21

Ok so went last night, met up with the old crowd. How I do not have the hangover from hell this morning I do not know.

AAAnnnnyyyyway we were doing silly stupid stuff (twister and baby oil I am so covered in bruises lol)

Old crush still has that phwoar factor - gave him my number this morning before I left (we all crashed at mates) and he's already texted suggesting dinner

And I wore ripped skinnies, black boots, black t shirt

Am still trying to catch up on this thread so as I can figure out who's who and who's where iyswim?

Also, what are the shag rules?

elastamum · 02/05/2010 11:29

thanks Juice, that what i was thinking . Pretty certain he is unattached, although I know he is on GSM as so am I!

I quite like the idea of a man who pops up once in a while takes me out and then who knows . My ex was a big sailor, away for weeks at a time and I used to be quite happy when he was away, it was the girl in every port that got to me - hence the divorce!!

lou33 · 02/05/2010 12:00

morning all how is everyone?

the sunny weather has left us down here, its raining

didnt stop bf and the boys having a water fight though

have also promised to take everyone swimming this afternoon....

piratecat · 02/05/2010 14:50

hi, windy here but sunny.

having a very funny communication on meetic with a guy at the moment who isn't yet a member. We are winking and looking 2-3 times day. Then a few days ago he changed his proflie slightly. The wording, i was sure was directed at me. Today has changed the wording again, i know for sure it's directed to me now!!. I have been able to email him, as i am a member but he can only read the title of them!!! Of course I tried to put in my email addy but even with gaps, the site picked up on it and i message popped up saying i will be banned if i try it again bloody hell!

anyway, this guy is gorg and if i've readit right will be on as a member very soon.

Remotew · 02/05/2010 15:05

pirate, good idea to make him pay up to be in touch.

DONTtouchMUMSspecialJUICE · 02/05/2010 15:19

raven - what do you mean by shag rules??.. when do you feel its ok to move onto that stage??.. or casual relationship ?

elast - its pretty easy to find out if you overseas fella has relationships over there... go over for a wkd away to visit him.

pc - ooooh be interesting to see what he has to say when your a paid up member

piratecat · 02/05/2010 15:30

tbh the fact he isn't apid up member is a tad annoying, likewe were saying, all he can do is wink. Yet it's quite good fun , as i get to de code his profile for any clues. bless. I thoughti was imagining it to star with, as when you change your profile description you have to wait for it to be moderated, but no, there is a deffo word in there that includes something very random that i wrote to him!!

maybe i am just bored !!!

and a bit lonely.

lou33 · 02/05/2010 15:59

still raining here

got avatar for the kids to watch, just made some welsh rarebit for a snack and am about to embark on a major baking mission

scotch eggs, sausage rolls, choc/hazelnut cake (bf's mum's birthday tomorrow), then dinner which is sausages cooked with apples and cider

i bet i will be worn out by bed time

sincitylover · 02/05/2010 16:26

move over nigella

both dcs matches cancelled today but still had to get up very early in case they weren't

So did a bit of tidying, then put heating on aand took to my bed for an hour.

SingleMum01 · 02/05/2010 17:09

hi knockraven - good on you to dinner, go girl!

pc - interesting detective work!

lou - you're such a domestic goddess, you put us all to shame

Juicy - when are you next seeing motorola to get your stuff back?

eve - are you doing okay now?

Dom - welcome to the thread

Just got back from my date with RAF bloke. Had such a laugh, he's a real cheeky chappy! Wants to meet again one eve. Don't know when as he works elsewhere in the week and only travels down at weekends to see his kids which he has alternate weekends, but to be honest that would suit me fine - not too much

lou33 · 02/05/2010 18:14

glad it went well

i am v far from a domestic goddess, i can cook but am shite at housework

luckily bf is good at it which means i only have to maintain the status quo

scotch eggs and sausage rolls are being demolished already, off now to make the cake and start the dinner

the cake i am making is the same one i made for dd1's 18th and is on my fb in case anyone is vaguely interested

Monty100 · 02/05/2010 21:36

Evening all .

The Monty household is naffed off because of the weather. Grrr

What's everyone doing for their bank holiday Monday?? At least it will have stopped raining here app.

piratecat · 02/05/2010 21:56
