elastamum · 13/10/2010 13:00

MILY, Beaut, So nice to have stuff to look forward to. I havent had a big social invite in ages, used to do a lot of balls etc when I was married, but not many people think to invite us singletons!

Have a big works do in Jan so will beinteresting to see if I go accompanied or alone once more!

StrawberryFruitBat · 13/10/2010 13:10

The Christmas Ball at RAF's work will be fabulous - I have been to tht kind of thing in the dim and distant past when I was Mrs Lieutenant MILY but on much smaller bases - this will be 800 people and loads of stuff to do - casino, funfair, fireworks. 8Not* the life I have been leading tbh but I am really looking forward to it. There is a dress agency in the high st here which sells on 2nd hand (usually on worn once) stuff which has some real gems because there are some v wealthy types in the area who do the whole designer thing so I am going to have a peruse there to see if there is a bargain to be had - I know friends who have picked stuff up for 10's of £'s that was 100's of £'s new

Thing that strikes me is that I had pretty low expectations from this dating lark tbh - maybe some nice dates, that was about it. I am really taken aback by how kind & thoughtful RAF is, how much we have to talk about, how interested he is in me as a person (and I in him too). I didn't think that was out there for me at all, so jaded and bruised by the XH experience. Am trying not to get carried away, has been no time at all, but I feel as though I have known him for years Blush

hatesponge · 13/10/2010 13:24

hello all, lots of good news it seems! hoping some of it rubs off on me, although still have the feeling i am destined to remain single forever, haunting this thread :)

went to wembley last night with both DSs. not the best match but the boys loved it. We were in the family enclosure, a couple of dads tried to strike up a conversation with me, but I am awful at small talk so they didnt get very far!

found out today one of my old flames (well, more a flicker than a flame tbh) has just bought a porsche Hmm Whilst I know there'd be no room in it for my weekly shop from asda there is part of me thats a bit EnvyGrin

elastamum · 13/10/2010 13:43

Oh Sponge!! Its just not fair is it. Am considering getting seriously silly car myself next year just to show the boys!! Wont be a Porsche though, not unless my DB will lend me his!

BeauticianNotMagician · 13/10/2010 14:30

Mily I know what you mean i feel like i have know DG for ages when in reality has only been 3 weeks Shock I think we have crammed a lot in to those weeks though. Can't believe i have met his family already.

Sponge Did you decide against texting WM.I wish i could afford a car let alone a porsche.I am taking driving lessons.I hope to pass just after christmas.Exp wouldn't let me learn Sad

Sounds like dp and myself at the start. I had only been with him about a week and met his exw and his mum after 2.

Never done that so quickly ever. But like you it felt like longer and the right thing.

I am celebrating feeling almost better by sitting here eating baileys chocolate btw

:)

BeauticianNotMagician · 13/10/2010 15:03

Lou It's a strange feeling like you say it just feels right.

How long did you wait before you introduced your Dp to the children?DG really wants to meet the ds's.We discussed it and i said it's too soon. His way of looking at it is that he has fallen for me and that if the children don't like him the longer we wait for the introduction then the harder it will be to have to walk away.I can see it from his pont of view too.

Envy at baileys chocolate.I may have to make myself a hot chocolate with a drop of baileys in now.Yummy

mummyilubyou · 13/10/2010 15:28

BNM, I have this dilema too and can see both sides. I bet there is no 'right' answer....

mummyilubyou · 13/10/2010 15:30

that's introducing new bloke to children, rather than dilemas over baileys Grin

BeauticianNotMagician · 13/10/2010 15:31

It is a difficult one. With ds1 having autism he can get very attached to someone so i worry about that if it doesn't work out but at the same time he also picks up on everything and i don't want him to overhear conversations etc and feel like i'm hiding things.

BeauticianNotMagician · 13/10/2010 15:34

Hahaha Never a dilemma over baileys it tastes good in any form liquid, chocolate and especially ice cream Grin

lou33 · 13/10/2010 16:07

He met them after about a week. It was all v v quick this time round, but its all worked out brilliantly imo

mummyilubyou · 13/10/2010 16:11

lou, from your previous posts re dp and dcs, sounds like it couldn't have worked better

I have this amazing sense of RAF being the one a real longterm prospect but I am wrestling with the knowledge that I am vulnerable due to stage am at with XH and therefore my judgement may not be on track.

My dd1 is v perceptive and will smell a rat soon anyway, so I am inclined to intro RAF to them as a friend and then gradually get them used to having him around. I figure if I keep him under wraps for months and then present him to them as BF/DP it will be harder somehow

Hmm
StrawberryFruitBat · 13/10/2010 17:22

I know we're not together, but despite all my intentions of no men meeting the children for months (and not inviting men to my home for a good while)... Carrot ended up coming round and being peered at on the second date. They know his name, that he is my friend and when he's coming round or i am going out with him.

I don't think they have thought to consider if he is more than a friend due to XH seeing female friends a lot, they don't do the normal child thing of opposite sex = boyfriend.

StrawberryFruitBat · 13/10/2010 18:38

RARGH

thread in sn. Fuming. An hour until i hit the wine.

BeauticianNotMagician · 13/10/2010 19:07

I think i may introduce the ds's to DG next week as a friend.I am spending most of the weekend with him so we will discuss it at some point. He asks about them all the time.I think i will start off gradually maybe just him coming over an hour or so before they go to bed at first to play on the wii or something.I'm sure a male about will please the boys no end as 'girls aren't cool or fun' according to my ds's.
