oh hello last ditch check before packing it in and going to bed with Edward book

OP posts:
slng · 10/09/2009 21:40

Book definitely better than movie, but that's not saying much ...

sfxmum · 10/09/2009 21:43

better than epidemiologies in business studies I tell you

at least next course is social policy, there I can talk nonsense at my hearts content and get good grades

OP posts:
slng · 11/09/2009 08:02

Good morning!

Woke up at 4.30am and didn't really go back to sleep. When is bedtime?

SFX - we are around in the afternoon but not sure what we are doing yet. Early let off from school but bound to have very moany tired children ...

sfxmum · 11/09/2009 09:00

Good morning all

despite being sleepy early ended up not being able to fall asleep until before 2am and then dd woke me up at 5

thanks slng think we will stay close to home, dd like her dad are not fond of the cold and has started complaining about being out and about slow acclimatisation required I think

have to book dd's booster and haircut too, someone told her vaccines hurt so she is extremely reluctant to go

OP posts:
sfxmum · 11/09/2009 09:02

sorry about complainy post actually quite cheerful today

vbus · 11/09/2009 09:42

Hello all

About to go for supermarket sweep, nothing exciting planned today, just getting everything ready for GP's visit. Also have to bake a cake today as DS1 going to a party tom, at least it will serve guests as well, hope they don't mind a chunk missing out of it

Also awake btw 4-5am as DS2 decided to chat for ages. Did anyone sleep well last night?

Auntie - DS1 starting nursery school next weds, he can't wait although I'm quite emotional about it all

slng · 11/09/2009 10:09

Hello! Back from doctors' and preparing to work by having an enormous bowl of cereal. Corn flake is rubbish though. Better one next time.

Have sore throat from giving DS2 a piece of my mind, at a high decibel ...

sfx - tell minisfx that DS2 did not even blink when he had his jab a month ago. I didn't know what to do with the bribes I had ready in my bag. It was most confusing. Ended eating them anyway.

vbus - what type of cake? I am contemplating baking seedy cookies, but there was request for chocolate and we haven't got it. Do you think if I just put some cocoa in the dough it would work?

mygreatauntgriselda · 11/09/2009 10:45

VBUS, but just think you have more time to have cuppas with me lol!!

SFX/SLNG Oh you've cheered me up somewhat. I got home from work at 9pm last night - find kids feral and running wild, no home work done, DH slumped on sofa watching TV: Shouting match ensues

Kids still have to do homework and don't get to bed until 9.45pm

DH and I continue arguing out of earshot of tired kids

went to bed extremely peed off at 11.30pm

5am DH gets up for work and wakes me: I then cannot get back to sleep until 6.50am, 10 minutes before alarm due to go off

Lets all be tired and grumpy please I am in no mood to be happy and am enoying being foul tempered today

slng · 11/09/2009 10:48

Auntie - I kept telling the kids that sometimes sorry is not enough and if you push people into a foul mood it's not fair to then expect them to be nice to you. Is that fair to tell a 3yo and a 5yo that? Perhaps not quite so loudly, you say?

slng · 11/09/2009 10:49

Must work.

BUT I DID WORK TILL 9.30pm LAST NIGHT.

sfxmum · 11/09/2009 10:53

auntie that would really piss me off so yes be grumpy for lack of sleep but plan to get even

slng go do some work

must tackle laundry how I love housework
this is my incentive to find a job soon, can get cleaning lady

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 11/09/2009 12:24

SFX/Slng - thanks for listening

I did something mega childish I was so cross. DH keeps buying fizzy drinks, which kids spot and then demand to have some. DS2 can say "I want 'nade!" and if he sees fizzies, he refuses apple juice.

So last night, after the mage row I sneakily poured the bottle of lemonade down sink as I was so cross.

Revenge is sweet and sometimes fizzy too

Ooooh am so childish

pcworld · 11/09/2009 13:03

Auntie, LOL at the shenanigans in your house! It's all so much fun sometimes, eh? But you must feel better now after your little tit-for-tat

We had a nice week with mum staying, felt very sad when she left yesterday. Taking it easy today, will head to Marble Hill later for some park action. Today is my penultimate "holiday day" with dd! She starts big school on Tuesday. Will be as full-on as ever with ds though, so planning plenty of activities as he likes to be busy!

Vbus, hope you had a nice holiday?

DollyDiamond · 11/09/2009 15:01

Hi All and thanks Vbus for the lovely welcome and request to tell you about myself - you are lovely!

I'm 34, have a dd of 15 months (although the tantrums she's had over the last few days make me wonder about the first d!) and work 4 days a week. I've recently moved to Richmond, so know no-one - although have had a letter from my elderly neighbour to say that the frosting on our bathroom window isn't that effective and that I have been seen "in a state of undress" - does that count as getting to know someone?

sfxmum · 11/09/2009 16:31

LOL Dolly guess that counts

some of us have known each other for about 3-4 yrs weirdly met on MN even though some live well within walking distance of each other - the wonders of the modern age

am 40 btw we do occasionally mange to meet up during the week but I think we all well overdue for an evening meet up

any ideas? of the cheep and cheerful kind?

we ended up at the playground by the river

OP posts:
DollyDiamond · 11/09/2009 16:51

Oh, an evening out sounds lovely! Thursdays are good for me as the hubby does all things child-related!

At the risk of sounding like a bit of a dipso, I'm happy to have a few drinks without food if that widens the options?

pcworld · 11/09/2009 19:43

Dolly - I like your style! Food always good too though, especially if one doesn't have to cook! Is somewhere like Wagmama ok or what about any other ideas? Pizza Express is grand, too, as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes Auntie has some more interesting ideas, she seems to get out a bit more than me

SFX, it would have been nice to meet up today - as it was, we managed Marble Hill playpark for only a very short time, ds seems to be super-over-tired at the moment and so requires careful handling We ended up coming home for a play with his "tractors" - ie anything and everything with wheels - and he was finally happy.

So, Friday night what what eh - are people doing exciting things? At this end we're having some fish and then possibly watching some tv. Rock 'n roll! I may push the boat out and start a new book

slng · 11/09/2009 20:49

Hello!

Friday! Yay!

We had spareribs and chick pea soup with freshly baked mini baguettes. Sad, eh? You'd think there are better things to do than to bake mini baguettes ...

DS1 and DS2 seems to be quite happy this afternoon just playing, er, things on wheel too. I was dreading the Friday afternoon overtiredness thing.

I'm going to watch Rebus. Bet nobody leads a more exciting life.

sfxmum · 11/09/2009 20:58

slng did you bake the baguettes from scratch?
I have only made wholemeal loaves recently

hi pcW think dh might take dd to Marble hill tomorrow but am not certain of their plans

dh will be leaving sometime on Sunday and returning late on Monday but as usual his plans are hazy - no idea how he makes it through, the blinking conference is Up North! anyway I just can't comprehend the lack of planning

my exciting plans for tonight are reading my book and I am ok with that think will fir in some shopping after tutorial tomorrow

OP posts:
slng · 11/09/2009 21:04

sfx - yes baguette from scratch. The bread most devoid of nutrition. It's nice, not as crusty as bought ones. I also can't understand lack of planning. I plan in my sleep.

mygreatauntgriselda · 11/09/2009 21:12

Dolly that's really funny!!

vbus · 13/09/2009 10:12

Hello all

Dolly - LOL nosy neighbours eh?

Auntie - Sounds rough, hope things are improving at home

PCW - bet you had a fab time with your mum over. hols were good thanks for asking although pretty jam packed. Anything wheels/transport related in our house usually does the trick!

Things have been pretty manic but good here, as well as usual hospitality/cooking been to 3house veiwings, took DS1 to party, and went out last night as GP's kindly offered to babysit. Phew I'm exhausted!

When is next night out? Happy with Wagamama, Pizza express .... whatever, will be nice to meet up

sfxmum · 13/09/2009 10:30

hello all

vbus where the viewing promising?

after not sleeping more than 4hrs for a few days finally slept last night until 9.30 marvellous but it does mean no running, dh is leaving soon
managed to persuade him to book hotel and train ticket just about

day school went well yesterday then walked around Covent Garden for a bit but got bored shopping alone did not find the jacket and shoes I wanted, think I need girly shopping trip soon

meant to bring up babysitting before but I think we probably could getting on with a babysitting circle, I certainly trust you lot my only draw back is having to rely on cabs to get home but I think it is worth it for a trade off
