Hello!

Had very nice day. Went out to lunch and then park and back and managed to even have a nap with kids around

Museli - LOL picturing dh squeezing ds into grobag. Couldn't have been easy!

G&T now and then chapati and curry for tea! HOpe everyone had a nice BH.

SushiMummy · 26/05/2009 07:59

Morning all. What a miserable start!

It was lovely to see some of you on Friday. Thank you for arranging the lovely night, SJ (or should I call you vbus?). Very nice to have finaly met, Muesli. Thank you for the lift KC.

sfx - thanks for the link, I'll show that to DH. Am quite keen.

Took DS to Natural History Museum on Sunday and he loved all the dinosaurs (well, nearly wet his pants at the T-rex bit tho, lol!). Thought about taking him either London Zoo or London Aquarium but having looked at the price, we decided not to. Can't believe they are sooooo expensive!

sfxmum · 26/05/2009 10:11

good morning all

sushi go to the science museum it is free and very good for children that and the NHM are our go to places

we seem to have left the fever behind and finally dd slept lots last night she is at nursery now and I am about to start writing my essay

nice weather over the weekend I hope it is the same next weekend

ComeOVeneer · 26/05/2009 11:02

Morning all.

Vbus glad the tickets were used, pleased it was a good outing.

Lovely to see some of you on Fri, sorry not to be able to chat to everyone.

Muesli, sounds like dh needs more practice with evening parenting Seriously though doesn't sound like he did to badly, (and you coped well to with the messages from him!)

Trying to muster up some enthusiasm to do something with the children today. They are currrently quite happy building a huge railway track in the playroom, so I shall leave them until fighting erupts!

Enjoy your day everyone.

AnotherMuesliPleaseBarman · 26/05/2009 12:14

Morning!

DP had some nice quality time with DS over the weekend, so think he's regained some confidence!

Have no idea what to do with myself today. DS is asleep. I have eaten marmite on toast, some m&s cinnamon cereal and 5 home-made biscuits. Am already pondering lunch. Not good.

Okay, a question for local MNers then: DP and I are getting married next year. We quite like the idea of staying local (Richmond/Middlesex/Surrey area) but haven't identified a venue yet. Have seen the venue list on the Richmond council website, but wondered if there were any others out there. Quite like the idea of somewhere small-ish and near trees/water/nature in general. No-where too huge and grand! Any ideas?

Kewcumber · 26/05/2009 12:18

Pembroke lodge in Richmond park but I imagine it costs an arm and a leg..

Kewcumber · 26/05/2009 12:20

hmmm sfx - who were we talking about that adopted in 1990? You have to whisper in my ear I can;t remember the conversation.

My SIL is going to ring to try and get into Lattitude on our family ticket but bring her own very small tent.

sfxmum · 26/05/2009 12:32

Kew Jeremy Hardy

muesli we got married in Richmond on the cheap a few years back we did the registry office then had the Breakfast at the Richmond Hill Hotel very nice and reasonable prices
btw their honeymoon suite is lovely
it has a great view and lots of places for pictures if you like that sort of things

I know they do the full package as well

Kewcumber · 26/05/2009 12:36

oh yes - I'd forgotten. I knew he must have!

tillyfernackerpants · 26/05/2009 13:31

Hi everyone, sounds like a nice evening out on Friday, glad you all had a good time!

We went to a friend's wedding, had a really nice time. Dh & I enjoyed having a bed without any small children climbing into it, plus a friend & I were holding out until 11pm at the evening do as that was an adult time to go to bed .

vbus · 26/05/2009 14:08

Tilly - glad you enjoyed the wedding and went to bed at a reasonable hour

Sfx - Glad DD is better, how is essay going? So do you know JH then?

Sushi - NHM sounds good fun, keep meaning to try it but we always end up at Science museum as DS loves it so much, next time

I had tickets for 'Waiting for Godot' which I bought way back but now I'm not so confident about going out Central London in case DS2 wakes up. DH could settle him but not so sure my mum could. Anyway decided not to go , gutted as both Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellan are in it. But my bro just offered me a ticket to see Pet Shop Boys next mth so will go to that instead Sfx - didn't you say they're headling Latitude? Should be fun

tillyfernackerpants · 26/05/2009 14:21

vbus, what a shame you can't make the theatre now, I also would've loved to have seen WFG but not sure I could stay awake!

I've just had to google JH

sfxmum · 26/05/2009 14:32

vbus what a shame they are lovely aren't they great voices too
you are right they will be at Latitude must admit am looking forward to Grace Jones should be quite mad but priorities are Patrick Wolf who I always seem to miss, Bat for Lashes, reminds me of the first time we went, Regina Specktor and a few smaller acts I would like to check out and should also like to see Editors as well, just because it is so sing along

we are making lists of priorities and deals on entertaining dd, as this year I want to see the news quiz live and a few of the writers and poets

tilly glad you had a nice time I must be more of a night owl as I seldom go to bed before 11pm

I think nursery really took its toll and dd is curled up on the sofa watching telly

sfxmum · 26/05/2009 14:33

oh and again for old Nick, latest album on my playlist DIG DIG

I hope the weather is nice last year was quite wet

OP posts:
vbus · 26/05/2009 14:40

Would like to see Bat for Lashes
Yes it was a bit wet wasn't it? hope you have better weather this year.

Yes, shame about tickets, still Dh will have to tell me all about it. My mum did babysit when DS2 was 8wks old but I don't think it's fair to ask her now he's older he might not fall asleep so quickly if he's not used to her. He probably wouldn't wake up, but I just don't want to risk it!

tillyfernackerpants · 26/05/2009 14:50

btw vbus, is Friday still on?

sfxmum · 26/05/2009 15:35

can I just ask school mums please
how many of everything to you usually buy, talking school uniform type of thing

is it a couple of each and extra tops?

TIA
school evening on June 25th

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 26/05/2009 15:48

Sfx, good question, there's a uniform for ds1's nursery! I would've thought a couple of everything?

We've got an induction on 17th!

sfxmum · 26/05/2009 15:59

oh but they look so cute although I still think my baby is just too baby for school

vbus essay not going too well I am supposed to write a critique/ report on why I think a business is going wrong, of particular case study and offer a new plan
when actually all I want to write is 'because the man is an upstart eejit with no commom sense and far too many fancy business ideas'

don't think it will do will it?

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 26/05/2009 16:13

sfx, you never know. A friend of mine passed a philosophy exam with a one sentence answer. Question was 'is this the question?', his response 'is this the answer?'

mygreatauntgriselda · 26/05/2009 16:16

SFX

5 shirts (£2 each in M&S)
5 pairs of socks
5 white vests
2 tunics/or trousers
2 ties (they always lose them)
One or two cardis (they get lost as well as they take them off and leave them around and they dissappear)

1 PE kit
1 school jacket/coat
1 school hat if they have one
1 pair plimsolls
1 pair school shoes
1 PE kit bag

Can you tell I have done this before (Tooo many times )

Meusli
How about the Naked Ladies gardens next to York House in Twickenham? V Nice

tillyfernackerpants · 26/05/2009 16:19

auntie at uniform list!

Muesli, I think you can get married in Kew Gardens? Or is that too large for what you want?

sfxmum · 26/05/2009 16:26

LOL me thinks philosophy teachers have a better sense of humour than business ones

I was quite distracted because all the names on the obviously made up case study were very appropriate for the job mrPott runs a flower business and so on I can't remember the term for that it will other me for the rest of the day

OP posts:
sfxmum · 26/05/2009 16:28

Auntie many thanks I think a few bits come from M&S skirt and trousers tights etc
Lordy!

Kewcumber · 26/05/2009 17:25

Muesli, I think you can get married in Kew Gardens? Or is that too large for what you want?
but you don;t get married in the WHOLE of Kew gardens!!! its quite a small venue actually - friends of mine married there with about 12 people (I catered!), Paula Yates/Michael Hutchence 1 yr old attended. It was a very select do.
