erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

Hi Quokka - glad to hear the massage is going well.

Paddle - you can give them to me if there aren;t too many, I'll store them in my utility room cupboard until we either have another west london girl or Nanou reappears.

Foxie - do you fancy changing lodger (given the grief) Friend of a friend lives in Jersy but is currently working in London is renting a hotel room 3 nights a week and wants to rent instead. He is about 50 nd has a young family himself in Jersey. OUr mutual friend lives in Penford ave so he;s keen to find somewhere in Kew. He doesn;t want to saty with her because she's the firend who recently lost her husband and thinks she needs more space but would like to be around to go out for dinner with her once a week.

I haven't met him but am told he's lovely, he sounds perfect for you (and you for him)...

bahKewcHumbug · 08/12/2007 15:13

Paddle - am hoping to take DS swimming tomorrow afternoon. Can we come over and unpack before lunch or will that bugger your plans up?

Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2007 18:19

hi kew, would be great to have visitors. i've had a couple this arvo and it really helps make it feel like home.

i've got to do a food shop at some point tomorrow but that can be morning or arvo.

what time were you thinking?

ps: quokka, i can afford a dishwasher but the kitchen isn't set up at the mo to support one. am hoping to do a bit of a re-model next year tho.....

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2007 18:22

kew, thanks for the offer. at the mo i've left them at the old house along with a few other bits n bobs.

I can be flexible in the morning - either early (say 9.30) or later (say 11am)?

Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2007 20:11

how about split the diff and go for 10am?

are you bringing cake? i have some ginger cake if you don't but that's about it!

ds can help dd unpack her boxes, she hasn't done it yet!

OP posts:
bahKewcHumbug · 08/12/2007 20:13

would I come without cake?

bahKewcHumbug · 08/12/2007 20:14

an DS is currently a dab hand at hurling things wildly over his shoulder when rummaging through his toy box - so he's your man for unpacking...

Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2007 20:27

sounds good to me!

Evening all!

BahKew - just met your sister's neighbours.

Went to Kew Sparkle (twice!) but didn't see anyone there.

Paddle, congrats on the move.

BTW, Gymboree was good but not sure if we want to join. Good for celeb spotting, tho.

sfxmum · 08/12/2007 21:51

hello all

tried to go shopping today but found stores too full and annoying, guess am in a bit of a Scrooge mood really, at least got a bottle of wine for dinner.

put the tree up aided enthusiastically by dd so got some cheer back

hope everyone ok today

quokka · 09/12/2007 06:38

ooh remodeling PC - sounds exciting! Christmas is very weird here, so hot but raining most of the time. It all seemed to start so early here as most expats leave for home in Dec. I feel so disorganised, and am really missing the COLD!

All that talk of cake is making me want some

Paddlechick666 · 09/12/2007 08:51

yeah well i have big plans for knocking thru the kitchen and lounge but i don't know if i'd be allowed and it's all dependent on getting a decent bonus next year.

i am seriously not liking drying up

festivevillas · 09/12/2007 08:53

Hi Sushi - was the GMTV presenter guy in there, then? dd and I used to go to Gymboree last year and saw him there a few times. We decided not to rejoin as £10 for 45 mins is just tooooo expensive for what it is! Quokka, you may be missing the cold - but surely not the constant rain, drizzle and general greyness!

festivevillas · 09/12/2007 08:55

PC am that you are all settled in (pleased really of course ) as am sitting here in a SEA of boxes and general chaos - and this is only the tip of the iceberg! Dear West London gals, I know I offered my home up for a meet up on Tues or Weds this week - but the way things are going, it ain't gonna happen!! C&C instead, anyone?

Paddlechick666 · 09/12/2007 09:02

you have all of my heartfelt sympathy. it is a complete nightmare! i am slowly getting organised but it's not a quick job!

btw, that 2menremovals were very good for the price. obviously not up to Pickfords standards but they did the job quickly and they almost managed to get all the right stuff in the right rooms....

give him a call and get a quote at least.

we've got a play session at the pre-school on tuesday morning. toying with a trip to Harrow to get wooden venetian blinds and some extra bedding.

i have a young american guest for 2 nights Weds/Thurs. Rotten timing but I couldn't say no......

OP posts:
festivevillas · 09/12/2007 09:08

Och well - no pain, no gain I suppose!! Glad that you are all settled in well before Crimbo and now you can enjoy making it feel like home! Yep, will call those guys plus a few others for quotes - we're deffo not in the Pickfords league price-wise - but at least it's a local move and we can do a million trips in the car too. Will prob see you Tues morning as still settling dd in - seems to be going ok altho she is a bit clingy which is to be expected ...

festivevillas · 09/12/2007 09:18

PS - PC, with the 2menremovals - what size was the van, was it fairly big? Despite a mammoth clear-out we seem to have much more stuff than originally envisaged ...

sfxmum · 09/12/2007 10:24

good morning all

it was lovely and bright when I got up now looking horribly grey and dark. think will have lots of sofa time today there might be cakes involved

rosmerta · 09/12/2007 18:34

Morning all, had my parents over for the weekend which was nice. Really really lovely to see ds playing with granddad as he probably sees him the less out of all the grandparents!

Tried to do some xmas shopping today but ended up with a couple of bits for myself instead

Paddle, glad you're (slowly) getting settled!

rosmerta · 09/12/2007 18:42

or Evening rather

festivevillas · 09/12/2007 20:08

Ros, glad to hear you had a nice weekend AND managed to get yourself an early crimbo present - that's important! Does anyone have a view on the Childsplay Cafe in Chiswick? Weather forecast for tomorrow dire once again and feel the need to get out somewhere fun with dd as she's been cooped up a bit this weekend. The last time we went to CC (some time ago) I was left feeling quite underwhelmed and it seemed draughty and cold! Was wondering if it might have improved - or can anyone suggest anywhere else? Not sure if I can face the Lollipop Club and Heathrow Gym is just too energetic for me at the moment!

bahKewcHumbug · 09/12/2007 20:13

Paddle - have your new home card neatly tucked into my handbag still oops!

Paddlechick666 · 09/12/2007 20:14

evening all, well to my ecological shame i can announce the dryer works!

i have a young american coming on weds for 2 ngiths (daughter of a friend studying in paris) so had to go buy a duvet and associated bedding. next will be a blow up bed as she has chosen to come the 2 nights my mum will be here.

ventured out to sainsbury's today, lovely store but very intimidating when you are a dyed in the wool tesco chick!

kew and ds, thanks for visiting. it really makes you feel at home when you're friends come over. i don't think dd and ds did too badly considering their age. how was your swimming? am very of your swimming this arvo.

wish i didn't have to go back to work tomorrow!

ros, how're you going? hope your parents gave you a bit of a break too.

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 09/12/2007 20:18

LOL @ Kew! Tell your mum her brownies are bloody good!

festive, childsplay is good altho probably less windy i don't think it's any warmer than C&C tbh. btw, the van the guys had was pretty big but not gargantuan. I guess for a bigger move they would just do 2 runs. they showed up at 10:30 and were done by 1pm. they work very very fast.

my windows are fogging up, what does that mean?

can everyone please pray that dd does not wake at 3am or 4am or 5am tonight please?

ta
