erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

Hello all

Not such nice weather today is it?
Good luck with painting Paddle, are you doing a lot of it? I think it's quite satisfying when you're finished

Bunyan/Ros/Sfx would love to try and meet up next Tues/Weds assuming everyone well by then

DS cough is finally getting better but he is so weak and tired, have booked docs apptmt for tom as he has lost quite a bit of weight and I'm concerned about him.

Tried syringe, tbh wasn't much easier to get it in his mouth but it was slightly less messy

Now I seem to have the sniffles too, not fair

Kewcumber · 04/12/2007 14:36

Sushi - it would be cheaper for me to rent you my spare room for DH to work in... very reasonable rates... no drunken friends a-la Foxie's lodger.

SushiMummy · 04/12/2007 14:43

QC - I think DH is too old to have that sort of life style (pub crawling).

sfxmum · 04/12/2007 15:56

and I am still waiting....how I hate the
'we will deliver on tuesday sometime'

sfxmum · 04/12/2007 16:20

apparently all I needed to do was rant on here

ComeOVeneer · 04/12/2007 17:43

HI all. Lovely to see MrsR. Ele and Kew on Saturday. I have been a busy bee today and done my christmas tree and decorated the house wuth garlands on the bannisters etc. I couldn't wait any longer, so now it looks all festive. Just need to do a load of cooking/frreezing and we are all ready for the big event.

Paddlechick666 · 04/12/2007 18:19

evening all. well it's not going too great.

the laminate flooring is faulty (one packet broken, one packet warped) which means bashing and battering the blardy stuff.

neighbour downstairs is on nights and wife came to complain

i bought them some chocs and tried to knock on their door to further apologise (profusely) but they wouldn't open the door!

great! I've pissed them all off already

no idea if this stuff is going to be down in time for the furniture arriving on friday.

arg!

to be fair Paddle its generally reasonable to do work during the day and you can't be expected to know that he was on nights. Perhaps he was tucked up with earplugs in when you went round, I'd try again another time.

I had my first piece of fridge art today and am ridiculously pleased with. CM (not generally given to crafty things) did "sticking with them today (I suspect to stop DS and Steppie DD bashing each other which I'm told they are getting a bit prone to!). CM assures me that she just put the blobs of glue on and DS carefully selected his own bobbles, stars and fuzzy felts to stick on . I think he's going to be a famous artist.

fitfox · 04/12/2007 20:51

Hi everyone - no gossip from Saturday then?

QC I see you chose to maintain a fignified silence and ignore my childish comment about the flying lucky pants...

Good on you Paddle

Kewcumber · 04/12/2007 21:01

ooh missed the comment about teh lucky flying pants (have been busy in work!)

More of a dull silence than a dignified one... didn't drink (diet coke only), food was rubbish but venue was good and CD did a good job of organising, met lots of nice people (one of who was the recruitment consultant who plced my old and favorite PA with me about 10 years ago ), left earlyish at 11.30pm as Bibble offered me a lift in her car. Big decision... stay for another hour then tube it home from Farringdon or get car to front door... No contest really.

Avoided the bathrooms like the plague (just to avoid history repeating itself!)

Did we agree to keep book swap this Sunday or reschedule?

SJ99 · 04/12/2007 21:23

That's too bad about the flooring Paddle, can you exchange/complain at shop to get some better ones? Try again with chocs, maybe they couldn't answer the door when you called round.

Glad you had good night QC & well done Gherkin on his masterpiece

Sushi - my friend is going to Gymboree tom so I'll let you know how she gets on. I did nosy around there a few wks back as I have to walk past the place to get to music class. I think it looks pretty good although it was a younger group who were in there when I looked in. Apparently the eqpt is arranged differently depending on age/ability.

fitfox · 04/12/2007 21:32

QC - Steppy and I can't do Sunday now - shall we reschedule?

sfxmum · 04/12/2007 22:06

paddle it's not like you knew he was on nights, if they don't want chocs save them for our visitpain about the flooring.

KC re book thing can do 14th but not 15th following weekend is off too have family over on22nd and leaving on 23rd.
well done gherkin

hope everyone ok tonight looks like dd will keep me up she already woke up twice coughing.

Kewcumber · 04/12/2007 22:52

obviously Bibble is Bubble99's pet name, now that we are bestest friends...

Paddlechick666 · 05/12/2007 07:41

ooooh god! i am beginning to think this is an impossible task.

both the house and flat are in utter chaos. parents go home tomorrow and friday the removal company come but they won't take everything.

i was supposed to be carting stuff over every day but my car is full of stuff for the tip which i don't have time to get to!

i was relying on having best friends over sat/sun to help but have had to cancel. their dd is in full chicken pox and their ds is almost sure to follow.

after 3 weeks of illness in dd i just can't knowingly expose her to the pox as well. it's just not fair to her.

any other week i'd have kept her home to recover from this awful flu/cold but poor thing has had to go to the CM despite it.

oh great, john lewis have now stuffed up my delivery today.

no fridge till next weds now.

sfxmum · 05/12/2007 09:19

hi Paddle hope both of you managed some rest last night. it sounds awful but also fairly typical moving hassle, not that it makes it any better

here we could do with staying in bed all day and no doubt will annoy each other all day sneezing and spluttering all over the place, at least I can have proper drugs

SushiMummy · 05/12/2007 10:24

Morning all.

sfx - hope you and DD feeling better.

CoV - how v organized! I get excited to do the xmas decoration, too, despite being non-christian. LOL

Paddle - hope the rest of the move goes smoothly. sorry to hear about the bad start with your new neighbour.

SJ - thanks! TBH, 10 quid for a 45 min class is a bit steep...

SJ99 · 05/12/2007 11:28

Morning all

Sorry to hear move is becoming so difficult Paddle, hope DD gets better soon & you get some help with move

SFX - hope you and your DD feel better, nothing like these seasonal bugs floating around eh?

Sushi - Didn't realise that was the price v. similar to TT then? I did pick up a leaflet when I visited but tbh I haven't looked at since, it's probably still in my bag My friend said she's doing the free trial today, you could try that first before booking to see if DS likes it.

It's such a pain it's not drop in, we missed music today and swimming last wk, prob this wk too, I hate to pay upfront and not be able to go

Kewcumber · 05/12/2007 11:57

I can help for a few hours sat and sun Paddle. How about a couple of hours say 9.30 to 11.30, sure I could do a couple of trips each day and we muct be able to get a reasonable amount in my car (if I clear out the crap).

Kewcumber · 05/12/2007 11:59

does anyone have a little fridge you could borrow, just to keep milk in?

Kewcumber · 05/12/2007 12:01

I could help on Friday but I may get in the way of your removal men. Also I could ask man with a van Colin (my mums mate) to move remaining bits and pieces on Saturday if you can spare teh cash?

SushiMummy · 05/12/2007 12:07

Sorry, don't have a little fridge. I can come and help on Sunday but as I don't drive, I won't be much help. Anyhow, give me a shout if you need me, paddle.

Kewcumber · 05/12/2007 12:15

you could come and shout encouraging comments Sushi

fitfox · 05/12/2007 12:28

Paddle

Unfortunately I have all the kids by myself on Saturday and am away Sunday (shhhh...don't tell the lodger in case he organises a rave while we are out!!)

A question: to those with cleaners: does one give a Christmas bonus and if so, how much?

Kewcumber · 05/12/2007 12:36

I give mine double wages the last day she cleans before christmas in my case 3 hrs pay extra, though your's hasn't been working long so you could probably get away with less.
