erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

sushi - shame about the house, I really like that road regardless of train noise.

SJ I would second the syringe, you can get the kit from a pharmacy. we developed quite a few strategies when dd refused but these days she is like paddle's dd faking coughs to get the drugs

paddle fingers crossed it all goes ahead smoothly

we popped to the shops to get candles and Christmas tree stuff plus little walk by the river. dd decided it was too cold, possibly because she refused breakfast and it was getting late for lunchtoddlers!

Paddlechick666 · 03/12/2007 12:49

they're just trying to help but they're rushing ahead with teh packing and just don't get that i don't want more and more boxes littering the house that dd can get into etc!

btw, you can also get a very handy syringe bottle stopper from the chemist. you plug it in the top of the bottle, insert the syringe then tip the bottle upside down and draw back the plunger to get the doseage.

the trick, when you have pinned dc down, is to place the end of the syringe into the cheek and release gently. this will avoid ds gagging/choking/spitting it all back out again.

anyone remember that email a few years back on how to give a cat a pill LOL. maybe you should swaddle ds in a towel first

SJ aim for the side/corner of the mouth

rosmerta · 03/12/2007 12:56

Hi all, I've missed loads again! Been away for my residential this weekend, lots of fun but very intense & hard work!

Just dropping in quickly now as well as I have to go and harrass my mobile company who seem to have randomly decided to change my call plan .

Hope everyone's well & going ok

SJ99 · 03/12/2007 12:59

Thanks for tips. DS hates swaddling of any form, he hardly lets me wrap him up in a towel after his bath, such a difficult customer. Toddlers indeed

SJ99 · 03/12/2007 13:05

Speaking of cats, I received a personalised advent calendar from the cats charity I sponsor. I have sponsored for many yrs but this is the 1st time they've sent me anything like this. DS & I are enjoying opening the doors each day, and there is different cat each day saying thank you!

Hi Ros, glad course went well

sfxmum · 03/12/2007 13:16

hi Ros that sounds like fun

been calling the hospital to arrange follow up, which they should have done, but given their general uselessness have not.
so another letter of complaint
channelling anger is healthy

fitfox · 03/12/2007 13:16

Glad Minipads is perking up Paddle

QC - do you want to change the date? I'm easy , but am vaguely thinking of visiting my Mum on Sunday - though that's far from definate atm

Go any gossip from Saturday night then?

Got up at 6.30am (normal for me) and rang Swimming Pool to book DCs onto a swimming class after school (as opposed to the 8am Saturday class) - got a place yahaaay. There is a waiting list so they advised us to call at 6.30am on the first day to grab a place. DD is really excited and DS1 is faking nonchalence

Sushi I have to say I love that road too - not just 'cos I grew up there - its just nice and quiet - apart from the trains, which I quite liked. They never caused us any inconvenience (unlike Concord)

I am a true west Londoner - I grew up within the sound of Heathrow Airport!

fitfox · 03/12/2007 13:19

sfx - is it QC you are complaining to - or have I lost the plot?

sfxmum · 03/12/2007 13:21

foxie no it is Kingston, I was booked for QC but the earliest scan the GP could get was for KH

concorde yes how can one forget, lived under flightpath for the last 10yrs

stepfordwife · 03/12/2007 13:37

hi everyone
how you all diddling?

paddle - you're nearly there, mate. packing isd the most boring thing in the world, isn't it? hope dd continues rallying.

sj, paris? [envy}. do tell us more..
hope ds better

sfx...spooky! we had rhubarb crumble on sunday, too! nice bit of ginger with it. dh made it, not me. obviously.

foxie..hmmm..casualty sees plenty of young (and not so young)men who've been dallying with hoovers

kew, you're being very quirt about the MN do. hope there wasn't a bathroom incident...

ye gods, the girl-child is demanding i make dora cakes with her,,,
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 03/12/2007 13:43

think i'd said i ws up for book swap on sunday
but probably notr now as my mum has invited herself over for a goss with MIL.

ooohhh, let me share my wildlife sightings with you (nothing to do with foxie's lodger...)

i was up at 5am today working at the dining room table (deadline looming and needs must..and actually focus well at that ungodly hour...well, once i've had caffeine)
anyhow, I saw a huge fox in the garden staring straight at me. tbh, they scare me a bit as they just stare you out, don't they?

Paddlechick666 · 03/12/2007 14:08

COMPLETION COMPLETION COMPLETION

now the bloody estate agent won't pick up the bloody phone!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 03/12/2007 14:27

It's so frustrating isn't it!

MrsRecycle · 03/12/2007 14:30

Yipeeee pc ! Congrats - so so pleased for you.

Foxie - your lodger reminds me of one I had - was a journalist but never washed - he had a shower once every month and that was it. He stank (sorry for those eating). Nice enough bloke though - not surprised he was single.

steppie - we were at the caravan the other week and a fox crossed the path - couldn't believe it.

Well, Gossip you want ladies??? I can't vouch for KC - went to complete our bathroom conversation after the meal and couldn't find her . But I met loads others and wasn't too drunk to remember who. Stacey crashed at mine but decided to phone her dad at 3am to come and pick her up and my dh got woken up at 4 by him tapping on the door. A good night, you must try and come to the next one.

bunyanvillas · 03/12/2007 15:28

Whoops, Mrs Recycle your message was no 666 so thought I'd better post quickly for luck! Am in week 2 of the most hideous flu incl chest and ear infection so struggling at home with dd today - and paracetamol just doesn't cut it! Thank goodness for CBeebies and playdough! PC, congrats on the move, all v exciting.

sfxmum · 03/12/2007 16:27

dd has had some cbeebies as well today along with her favourite nursery rhyme dvd's

dh not home till late today, he has some sort of exam later.

trying to find the will to go jogging sometime this week, must drad spring from bed at around 7amI know I like it once I am out

rosmerta · 03/12/2007 17:01

oh crap, ds has just somehow managed to fall out of his cot , I went in to get him and as I was checking him over he threw up! Am now unsure whether or not to ring NHS Direct, I know the signs for concussion (and am not sure he banged his head at all tbh), and think they will just tell me to take him to A&E to be on the safe side! He's sitting really quietly and looks really pale, any thoughts anyone?

sfxmum · 03/12/2007 17:05

A&E but I do like to go for caution, does he have a visible bump/ red spot / bruise?
I think that is what NHSdiret will advise

rosmerta · 03/12/2007 17:09

He doesn't have any visible bump or bruise so am thinking he's just a bit shocked (but not in shock iyswim) & I've been to A&E a couple of times before and they always seem to make me feel a bit paranoid and daft!

sfxmum · 03/12/2007 17:13

yes they do that don't they but their job is to look at the child thoroughly and reassure you.
at least it is not friday night.
I guess you could just sit and wait to see how ds is, then keep checking overnight?

It hard to say but you know your son better and know when something is wrong
chances are he is fine

Yingers74 · 03/12/2007 17:23

i don't know I go away for a while and you call yourselves richmond upon thames? LOL

bunyanvillas · 03/12/2007 18:39

Ros if you're not sure just head to A&E - and don't feel daft! Is he any better now?
