Kewcumber · 25/11/2007 22:49

is anyone else going to the MN Xmas party next Sat?

sfxmum · 26/11/2007 09:30

good morning all

kew party sounds fun, amazing how they muster the energy when it gets exciting

SJ thanks for recipe, have not bee in the kitchen all weekend as have been taking advantage of having dh at home.
glad party went well, dd very keen on keyboard too but I am not sure it would do much for my sanity

foxie LOL at DS1 love the dramatic sense. hope swellings better today.

paddle tis like a bawdy comedy those exchanges all sounds very expensive. bet you hoping it will be all over soon.

ros some headway with essay?

slng cakes never make it to the following day in my house either

not sure what to do today will take it easy I think

hope you are all well

ComeOVeneer · 26/11/2007 10:05

Morning all. Have been catching up on the last few days events. Hope everyone had a good weekend and those poorly are on the mend. We had 25 friends over on Saturday night so I did a huge spread like when you lot were here. Yesterday was spent doing pretty much nothing, but a long walk at Bushy park to clear our heads, then managed to persuade dh is was way overdue for him to cook the sunday roast . Today I have to dismantle the shelves in the play room and reassemble them in the garage to uase them for storage and make space in the playroom to put this damn piano against the wall. The children haven't been off it since it arrived on friday. I'm sure it is just the novelty factor and they will tire. DD keeps making ds sit on the sofa down there whilst she puts on a concert for him.

MrsRecycle · 26/11/2007 10:20

hi ladies - just trying to catch up so apologies if I missed anything!!

foxie - I have a "Hettie" - a female version of the Henry - pink with mascara eyes!
hope the decluttering went well - I've got to do my study and AP has said that she insists on helping me (she's great!).

KC - I'm going to the party!!

all ok in the recycle household apart from ds who has asthma! He has been 100% better since he's been on the inhaler. He is now walking and being a complete terror - into everything. Funeral went well - it was a nice close family do - just what GM would have wanted.

SushiMummy · 26/11/2007 10:30

SJ, Happy belated birthday to mini-sj! Glad you had a lovely time.

Hello all!

Did you get in alright, QC? (No District service this morning!)

fitfox · 26/11/2007 10:48

Is there still no District Line?

Anyone watch Cranford last night? Very entertaining

Lovely Steppy came round this morning to whisk DS2 away so I can declutter go on MN LOL!! What a Star

DS2 has 4 teeth coming through at the top and is being a real male about it. He is such a baby - I need to cuddle hi to sleep hen he's poorly. He wakes up crying if I let go of the cuddle . Im sure he knows he' the youngest and is really milking his position in the family

Paddle - we uesd the Carpet Right just past Kingson Hossie

CoV - Is your DD having piano lessons? I want DS1 o have them but he refuses (how annoying is that?)

£300 sounds OK tome for a laminate floor - as the labour is free anyhow

MrsR - I didn't realise your DS had asthma, poor wee love [hugs to him]

Right off to do some decluttering

ComeOVeneer · 26/11/2007 11:50

Foxie, dd isn't having piano lessons (yet) as
(a) she "already knows how to play the piano and
(b) The piano is in desperate need of tunning, but I refuse to pay to have it done until ds is a bit older and treats it with some respect rather than bashing the living daylights out of it.

sfxmum · 26/11/2007 13:05

just been having a look at the programme for Christmas at Kew and it looks fab
am getting old childishly excited!

a carousel, marvellous

Kewcumber · 26/11/2007 13:22

there is a family evening in Kew 5-8 on 7th dec if anyone wants to go. Think I will wander over after tea at about 6pm for an hour.

Kewcumber · 26/11/2007 13:32

oh lordy I have started another AIBU thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2724/430135?rnd=1196083892250

Actually I am mightily pissed off about it.

sfxmum · 26/11/2007 13:50

that evening sounds great.
and KEW bless families!

Kewcumber · 26/11/2007 14:46

it was nice SFX - funny the things you enjoy when you have childrne that you never realised before. I really enjoyed it becasue DS enjoyed it so much and because everyone else thought he was so lovely - brings a warm glow to your heart doesn't it?

Kewcumber · 26/11/2007 14:48

sushi - wasn;t in work today have two remaining swimming lessons for DS which I took as annual leave.

stepfordwife · 26/11/2007 15:03

hello allo
how you all diddling?

had a nice couple of hours with foxie's gorgeous ds2. dd got a bit jealousd which was funny.

kew, glad you had a nice time at the party. have posted on your other thread.
sj, glad ds had a nice time.

had two embarrassing episodes yesterday which i'll share with the class..

  • at a leaving lunch for a friend yesterday, his fthaer-inlaw was doing card tricks for the dc and then showed off his 'magic muscle' (a funny popeye-like muscle due to strained muscle). I thought this was hilarious and asked him to do it again...but i triilled:' show me your love muscle" by mistake. dh didn't let that one go for a while..

*then walked home with ds1 and popped into coffee shop for a cappuccino/hot chocolate moment. ladies busy,so popped into the disabled loo for a wee. came out...to find young chap in a wheelchair wiating outside the door patiently

god, school pick-up
toodlepip

SushiMummy · 26/11/2007 15:26

LOLOLOL, steppie!

Lucky you, QC! Still no district! Am v .

bunyanvillas · 26/11/2007 15:31

Christmas at Kew is great - we went last year and enjoyed the carousel and general atmos - will steer clear of Father Christmas though! dd was quite traumatised by her short glimpse of him last year and I was worried that I'd scarred her for life, such was her reaction! Actually crimbo at M&S ain't bad either as dd loves all the sparkly blue decorations and party dresses, the more outlandish the better! Cov, v envious of your piano - would love ...

fitfox · 26/11/2007 16:33

" Love muscle"???

I'd like to go to Kew Sparkle QC but Ds has a party to attend that night so will have to see whether I can fit in in, between chauffeuring him

I like the idae of an evening in Kew Gardens though - all sparkly and majic

Bunyan mine tend to be traumatisd by the strange man with the beard too (although I always reassure them he has probably been fully CRB checked )

Steppy thanks again for this morning - a couple of hours sanity and loads of dcluttering done - bliss

stepfordwife · 26/11/2007 16:45

i know, foxie!
what was i thinking?!

you're v.welcome, m'dear

ooh, yes, christmas in kew village sounds lovely. ds1's school christmas fair that evening. finishes at 5.30 the n pac king up (still can't believe have allowed myself to be comandeered nto being a class rep..)
but may well feel like a stroll aftwerwards as ity gets packed/hot/feral.

sfxmum · 26/11/2007 17:05

steppie did he blush? LOL

I think this year I might try ice skating, maybe

I am worried that I might burst into tears at the carol concert have been silly emotional lately it is actually quite disgusting

dd has been playing hide and seek lately, she is ok counting and going looking for us but when it is her turn to hide if I say 'where are you? am coming to find you' she just shout 'here here and jumps out'

stepfordwife · 26/11/2007 18:21

no he didn't, sfx!
well, not until dh guffowed and made a point of it, that is...

ah, that'll be the hormones, then! do you cry at cute puppy and loo roll advert? that's the test...
lol @ dd. 'i'm here! i'm here!'

stepfordwife · 26/11/2007 18:24

oh dear..can hear ds1 and ds2 discussing how disgusting my efforts at cooking were this evening (and i thought i was improving..)
ds2: "It was gross. i'm still hungry.'
ds1:'She does try so hard, though..." [grin}...
(shepherd's pie in case you're wondering)

SJ99 · 26/11/2007 18:59

hello all

Steppie, love muscle - that's hilarious
LOL at your Dc's comments and mini-SFX!

Ds seems to be also coming up with some random stuff lately. Yesterday I went to get him in the morning and he was sat in his cot saying 'Live the dream' ???!! On Saturday DS kept pointing out the moon, so Dh asked him if the moon was bright, he replied 'it's brilliant of course', that told DH. Today he's been saying 'hello sweetie pie' to me all afternoon, cute!!

where do they get this stuff?

Kew trip sounds good, can I let you know nearer the time? DH is working down in Bristol til xmas so will have better idea next week what's happening.

slng · 26/11/2007 19:32

ds1 refused to go into santa's grotto at the motorcycle museum (I don't know why they had one) last year, and had nightmares because he didn't want the "christmas man" to come into the house. It will save us a lot of money for gifts if the antipathy towards santa continues!

Ds1 said "are you joking me?" Is that slightly threatening!? I blame it on the nursery.

fitfox · 26/11/2007 19:32

Lurve muscle......

Steppy I think I know what you were thinking!

[dirty old woman emoticon]

MrsRecycle · 26/11/2007 19:37

steppie - lol at love muscle . Kids do come out with some funny things don't they. My niece was talking to dd1 (both 9) and said to her "isn't it funny how your Mum and Dad are still together, I'd have expected them to be divorced by now." sj - yes where do they get this stuff from indeed eh?
