erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

KC that is very cute

I can tell just how anxious I am today, just made a huge pan of polenta and am now eating it with milk, just like when I was a kid, such comfort food.
all a bit crampy and worried blinking hormones making me all emotional, someone slap me

bunyanvillas · 21/11/2007 12:49

SFX, take it easy - if you can ... and enjoy that polenta! Whatever makes you feel better. How many weeks are you now?

sfxmum · 21/11/2007 12:54

bunyan -am at the very end of my 6th week so quite a lot can go very wrong I know that.

think will get dd dressed and go for a walk, keeping toddler in line should distract me, but the little monkey wants to play with her trains

I really hate this stage

Paddlechick666 · 21/11/2007 13:07

sfx, really sending you lots of relaxed vibes and a pot of glue!

kc, ds is very cute. a star he will be i am sure!

DD is a drug addict. she "loves my lellow medsin" but her "strawbry medsin is my fave-rit"

foxie, think your ds is old enough for the olbas oil now and a karvol plug in thing is brilliant. helps dd's stuffy nose thru the night. hope you get a good night tonight.

right, i'm off to manchester very shortly so catch up wiht you all in a day or two.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 21/11/2007 16:26

foxie - I suffered from exactly the same dread as you - especially as it's getting cold. But dh was insistent (and right as usual!) I even brought a chair to bf him in when he woke up - guess what - he never did!! I was completely shocked. My ds has a nasty cold at the moment but is still managing to sleep through it. We have an appointment at docs at 8.10 tomorrow morning. And then its the funeral - I'm going to do a speach but my voice is going.

pc - next time you're in Manchester let me know and I'll arrange to work up there and we can go out one night.

Must dash - might try and call you tonight foxie.

stepfordwife · 21/11/2007 17:24

hi everyone
how you all diddling?
Well survived ds1's class trip. makes me laugh how much they love you going on trips with them when you're not allowed to kiss them goodbye within six yards of the schoolgates..

foxie, as we've chatted about before, i went through similar sustained feeding frenzy with ds2 and how the only way to deal with it was to get him away from his milk machine. so, yep, own room and - this is the good bit - dh went to him when he cried to keep me away. and, yes MrsR, i was surprised that he settled quite quickly.

sfx - i think everyone's paranoid in those early weeks, aren't they? it's a countdown until you feel 'safe."

kew, there were certainly lots of 'jeeeeeeesy" grins when ds and dd clocked each other yesterday. cute.

lemon - ooohhh, a girl-flavoured one. how exciting.

paddle, dd will be doing cold turkey, if you don't watch it. enjoy manchester.
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 21/11/2007 17:25

hmm, get you cov and kew, with your deviated septums. does sound wonderfully debauched..(painful, tho, you poor things)

sfxmum · 21/11/2007 17:51

went for a walk with dd huge puddles about all quite muddy so happy toddler.

my dd is still to move to her own room and she quite often sleeps in our bed.
I just can't face having to spend the entire evening in the same room as dh,which will happen when the second room becomes her bedroom. I do love him dearly but you can have too much of a good thing

thinking of pics, the way dd mugs for the camera I can't see how a second child can have a look in, I remember this happening with niece and nephew, hardly a photo of the boy alone

SJ99 · 21/11/2007 19:11

Hello all

Hectic day, taking advantage of my mum being here and have done all my xmas shopping, almost, so I'm knackered but feeling pleased

SFX - the best thing about the Ikea shopping was that I found some pear cider which I used to enjoy when living in Sweden so I stocked up on a few cans

KC - cute story

Foxie DS used to wake up all the time and he slept in our room/bed. We went on hols when he was about 6mths old and he had his own rm - guess what...? he slept loads better, I think Dh had been disturbing DS as he too is fidgety sleeper.
Eucalyptus drops will help with the cold too.

Have a good trip Paddle

COV or any other dentist
If you are around, your help is needed here

fitfox · 21/11/2007 22:03

OMG I had better psych myself up to put him in another room then (err, maybe over Christmas, she says rather weakly)

But he's my BABY

sfx - I used to get loads of crampy feelings - its the ligaments stretching [hugs]

Kewcumber · 22/11/2007 09:22

foxie - was thinking this morning that haven;t seen much of you since you went back to work. Could you stop working on Fridays please, it is ruining my social life...

sfxmum · 22/11/2007 09:27

good morning all

all this talk of own rooms must have reached dh as he wanted to discuss it last night

apparently the accountant thinks we are due less tax than what we had been saving for, which would be nice but I think we will err on the side of caution and keep it in 'saving' just in case.

hope you are all well

paddle very impressed with your cost saving measures, make sure they put a praise note in your file or gets mentioned in writing at an appraisal even if you have to bring it up yourselfhope conference going well

fitfox · 22/11/2007 12:46

Kew

I'm a bit of an exhausted wreck atm too due to DS2's sleeping (or rather not sleeping) habits, so I haven't seen anyone much

We need to organise our next meet perhaps? Were you serious about having one at your again or do you regret volunteering?

My cleaner was marvelous BTW (apart from the hoovering breaking haldf way through - must have been the shock of being used)

Kewcumber · 22/11/2007 12:50

no am serious Foxie - can do this Saturday mornign but not afternoon, all day this Sunday and following sunday but not saturday. Think Weekend after is fine...

We could have meet and book swop together...

sfxmum · 22/11/2007 15:34

KC just had a look at your new pics on FB your boy looks so so big and extra gorgeous

can't wait for the weekend we haven't done family things for a while but dh seems keen on keeping both days work free which has been quite rare lately

SJ99 · 22/11/2007 19:13

Hello all

Foxie - I found it really hard to leave DS in his own room so young, but the benefits of a good nights sleep for all of us made the world of difference, I had loads more energy in the day. Anyway just do what you feel is right

SFX- hope tax reductions comes true but you are probably right to keep saving until it actually happens

Had lunch in Richmond with a friend who's over from Sweden, was really nice to see her. Am out tonight with friend (he with Jerry Springer lifestyle!) so will find out the latest LOL

fitfox · 23/11/2007 09:20

Thanks SJ - I gave medised last night and he was much better - slept loads (he has a cold). I'm torn between wanting sleep and wanting to keep him in our room until he's 1 yr old.....

Kew book swap at yours would be good. I still have some books belonging to other people

I can't do mornings as I have to be bale to catch up on sleep on Saturday - its the only day I don't have to get up early for work or school or mass. But an arvo would be great - am easy about dates as I have no social life whatsoever atm

SushiMummy · 23/11/2007 11:47

Hi all! Lovely sunny day, isn't it? Is it cold outside? I've been in the office since 7.15...

QC, do you mind if we pop over Sat morning to drop some toys? We need some space for a Christmas tree (DH's idea).

Hope everyone is well.

Kewcumber · 23/11/2007 13:56

yes sushi - sat morning would be fine - we are out socialising in teh afetrnoon evening (a rare event) - its my neice's 18th birthdya so we're off down to buccolic west sussex for the afternoon and evening.

I am going to attemt to keep DS up a little late for the party - first time for us. He is a bit unpredictable at parties - is eitehr the life and soul or running away to hide!

Kewcumber · 23/11/2007 13:58

nice to see you and DD earlier steppie - sorry I was such a bad playmate. I had work crisis and was late to swimming tryong to sort it then in my stress forgot to bring my handbag so steppie had to pay then had to run off early to gone home and deal with crisis. Hopefully all sorted now (fingers crossed) but has taken best part of 2 hrs

Kewcumber · 23/11/2007 13:59

re book swap - can do from 3pm either of the next two Sundays - 25th and 2nd (may be able to do the one after that too but shall we aim for one of those two and see how many want to make that?

SushiMummy · 23/11/2007 14:16

Thanks QC! Would 11am be OK with you?

Kewcumber · 23/11/2007 14:35

11am is fine - come for coffee and if its fine (?) the boys can play outside.

SushiMummy · 23/11/2007 14:44

Fab! See you tomorrow, then! BTW, DH is coming, too (I don't drive), if that's OK.
