erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

MrsR - so sorry to hear about your Grandma.

Paddle - hope AB's start working soon so mini-paddle and you can have a good night. Diabetic? Really hope it's a false alarm.

Lemon - a girl? How lovely and pink!

SJ - thanks for the advice. May try to go to Boots to see if I can get it without prescription. (No holiday left for me to take DS to docs.)

Foxie, my cleaner does four hours including ironing but only two bedrooms. Does sound right imho. We pay 7 pounds an hour plus tube fee.

SFX, My 46-year-old-first-time-expecting friend didn't get offered the early scan, either. (She's not having a Nuchal one as she's determined to have this baby regardless. But it's a different story.)

MrsRecycle · 19/11/2007 14:37

Thanks ladies.

sfx - I had my early scan done here - fees are currently £120. As I had some early bleeding it really did put my mind at rest and Dr Gibb is lovely.

SJ99 · 19/11/2007 15:23

Sushi - you shouldn't need prescription for that cream if you can find it. It gets absorbed really easily and a little goes a long way.

stepfordwife · 19/11/2007 16:21

hi everyone
wet enough for you all?!
paddle - sorry you're having such a rough time m'dear. even if you'\ve got diabetes, may well be able to control it with diet/pills. but both dh and my sis are on insulin and fine, ifyswim.

mrsr - so sorry about your gran

foxie, yep got drenched about 3 times today. frizzy-haired madwoman in a cagoul, that's me!

right, psyching myself up to do homework...
already looking forward to wine o'clock..

Paddlechick666 · 19/11/2007 16:31

hi all

mrsr, condolences for your gran. empathise with your thoughts tho, my nana died at 101 last august.

thanks for all the good wishes. i had gestational diabetes and was on insulin so i'm not "afraid" of it iyswim.

will await results of blood tests but am not having them till next thursday. the main concern is the pain i've got in my lower back and pelvis and the fact that i've lost 17kg since January.

according to the dr's scales i am now 63kg so that's 3kg less than a couple of weeks ago.

personally i think maybe the pain is a kidney infection except i don't have any other symptoms other than feeling like i've been kicked in the lower left back which also feels a bit swollen.

packed dd off to CM and am sure she's had a lovely time. she has been very bored with both me and the house having been indoors all weekend.

please god she sleeps tonight!

mrsr, really wish i could take some time off work but it's just too busy right now and i am doing some good stuff and i want to see it thru and get the recognition for it. altho the boss will be more likely to remember the screaming child soundtrack to our meeting than me pulling something in £2m under budget i expect.

also, personally, i think the weight loss is just down to being too tired to bother to eat much more than toast in the evenings!

oh heck have no water again

paddle hope the respite did you both some good

Kewcumber · 19/11/2007 20:34

sfx - do you want to come around for a kettle of water? or a wash?
Paddle you don;t sound like prime candidate for diabetes but then kidney infection was the sign of my mothers diabetes so not impossible that you have both.

Sorry about your GM MrsR - still painful even if you know it is the natural course of events.

sfxmum · 19/11/2007 21:06

thanks kindly neighbour think we ok for now after the weekend fiasco we got a few bottles of water just in case.

Kewcumber · 19/11/2007 21:54

don;t hesitate to call if it happens again and you need anything.

sfxmum · 20/11/2007 09:11

morning all
water did return last night but I was so tired just had a shower and went to bed, big mistake, no water this morning and all of yesterdays dishes in the sink

thanks KC

how are things at Paddle towers this morning?

hope you are all well this morning

Paddlechick666 · 20/11/2007 09:20

sfx, what's the story with the water? sounds like a nightmare.

mini paddle didn't have too bad a night. awake at 3am but she went back to sleep okay.

i still feel dreadful. lower left back is so sore to touch it's very weird. apart from a few cold symptoms i don't have anything else to explain what it is. it's draining tho, painful to walk, stand, sit etc.

was thinking of a trip to John Lewis this morning to price up appliances but just don't have the energy.

skipping 2nd swimming lesson as dd is still pretty congested. hate missing things that i've paid for! she'll only have 2 lessons left after this week....

OP posts:
sfxmum · 20/11/2007 09:46

paddle glad dd seems better and ouch for you, does sound like kidney problems.

not sure what the problem with the water is but of course it affects the whole building. periodically I see a man in a van parked in front that really inspires confidence must log in to the residents association site to find out what is up

ComeOVeneer · 20/11/2007 10:10

HI all. Haven't been around for almost a week. RL is really getting in the way atm. Sorry to hear about your gran MrsR. Poor mini paddle she really hasn't had much luck health wise the last few months has she? Hoipe she is now on the road to recovery with the AB's, and hope you get sorted soon too paddle.

Health wise I'm not doing to well either. Just as I was beginning to recover from the last bout of sickness I have been struck down with really bad headaches that just affect one side of my face across the forehead, eye, cheek and around to the back of my head (always on the left side). Have seen the doctor (who aside has done blood tests that have confirmed I am moderately anaemic (which I suspected)) who is refering me to an ENT specialist as she suspects it is sinus/ nasal tubes related. My mother had an undiagnosed deviated septum from birth until early 40's and suffered very badly with sinus problems headaches etc until it was operated on, so it may be I am taking after her. In addition my sleeping has been getting even worse. I am now on about 4-5 hours a night, and am considering asking doctor for sleeping tablets.

We had a load of family over on Sunday for MIL's birthday and I totally exhausted myself making a 4 course meal for 18. This coming Saturday I have 25 over for a drinks and buffet, than next Saturday is dd's christmas fair which I am heavily involved in plus the MN party that night. This week I have to have a major sort out of the play room as MIL is giving the children a piano which is being delivered on Friday. Then there is all the preparation for christmas to do (although I am quite far ahead with that)and 2 nativity play costumes to make, organising the class parents' christmas meal and presents for the teachers.

Normally I can cope with all of this but I am so damn tired, but can't let everyone down. DH wasn't terribly sympathetic as he thinks it is my own fault for taking on so much (and he is probablly right) and he is ridiculously busy at work right now he has told me there is no chance of him being home before 11pm any night before christmas.

ComeOVeneer · 20/11/2007 10:11

Dear lord what a moaner I am . Well that was a totally self indulgent post if ever I read one

rosmerta · 20/11/2007 13:07

hi all, just popping in briefly courtesy of Aylesbury Library!

Haven't read the thread so hope you are all well and any ill los are recovering!

Am struggling atm with ds who is getting over his cold but seems to be teething badly now and can't sleep without a dose of Medised! Am worried he's becoming addicted

Anyway, hopefully I'll be back for good on Thursday and will catch up properly then!

fitfox · 20/11/2007 13:36

Just whizzing past: DS2 woke me EVERY 15 MINUTES last night so I am completely exhausted and out of it (even more than usual)

SJ99 · 20/11/2007 13:55

Hi all

Sorry you're so tired Foxie and so ill COV, hope you both get some rest.

Glad to hear mini Paddle getting better, hope you get sorted too Paddle.

SFX don't they have to put up a warning when they're about to switch off the water for the whole building? Must be v. frustrating & inconvenient for you.

Well we managed to get an Ikea trip in today while my mum is here which went well. DS is proud new owner of table and chairs (b'day present from my parents). I joined up their store card and got a freebie lunch, I'm a sucker for an offer

sfxmum · 20/11/2007 15:44

COV wouldn't call it self indulgent, hope you feel better soon

Ros is it addictive? I steer clear of meds as much as possible. hope it settles soon.

SJ I like the idea of shopping at Ikea rather than the actual experience. I remember crying there when I was 7 months pregnant I forget why

foxie that sounds rough

water on now so quick clean up and laundry

I want to go back to bed asap so sleepy and frankly the idea of cooking dinner makes me feel ill

Kewcumber · 20/11/2007 16:13

Cov - sympathies - I have a deviated septum (always think that sounds terribly racy!) and persistant sinus trouble, though I have learnt to live with it and dont; suffer too badly with headaches so is slightly easier to manage I think.

sfxmum · 21/11/2007 09:25

good morning all

how are you all getting on? nice to wake up to some sunshine even if I doubt it will last
hope we at least manage a nice walk and puddle jumping

MrsRecycle · 21/11/2007 09:41

ohno tiredfox - was going to give you a call a bit later on but you'll probably be sleeping. Hate to nag but maybe now its time for him to sleep on his own. Poor you.

fitfox · 21/11/2007 10:35

MrsR do you think he'd be better on his own?

The thought of having to get out of bed and go into another room if he is fussing is quite off putting TBH. He hs a really bad cold. Last night he woul onkly sleep if I was cuddling him as he was finding it hard to breathe. I will wait until he is better then maybe consider trying him in the room next door.

Out cleaner is here. She looked a bit daunted when I showed her around and told he what needs doing . She said "its definately 4 hours not 3"

BTW MrsR congrats on getting the all clear

When I had breast cancer scare a couple of years ago I resolved after the all clear that I would enjoy each day, stop growling the DCs and never be grumpy again. ...That lasted about a week 'till I was back to my normal obnoxious self again

Kewcumber · 21/11/2007 10:45

Cov - have you tried a squirt of Otrivine at night - helps keep my sinuses to sleep.

Kewcumber · 21/11/2007 10:46

very excited about a girlie Lemon - can we buy loads of pink fgluffy stuff - Paddle is such a spoilsport about that.

Kewcumber · 21/11/2007 11:25

DS is very slowly adding the odd (incomprehensible) word to his vocabularly. When I say odd, I mean odd. Yesterday when try to take a photo of him "say cheese" (not really expecting he'd respond)... "jeeeeee" and subsequently repeated it to order! No accounting for that boy - think he has aspirations of being a film star.
