erm, not sure if this will work but have started a thread in the interests of currying favour with MNHQ!

oh dear, dd has thrown up all her dinner.

think a day at work tomorrow is looking impossible.

OP posts:
SJ99 · 18/11/2007 19:30

Oh no, poor mini-paddle I guess as she's really ill dd will want to be with you tom and not CM. Good luck at the docs, hope they can help.

DH was ill all last night, I ended having to stay up til 1.30am as my parents flight was mega delayed, when they did get out it was the classic case of car battery gone flat so had to wait for breakdown service.

Am annoyed with my dad as he gave DS a bright new red car which he loves but gave it to him at tea time - so no interest in his food and screaming habdabs when I prised it off him to get ready for bed, making me feel like the baddie. I always feel like the G's give with one hand and then take with the other

SJ99 · 18/11/2007 19:32

Anyway rant over with, hope everyone is well and had nice, not too wet day. Tis hard work being stuck in all day with toddler, forecast not looking so good for this week, will have to come up with some indoor ideas

SJ99 · 18/11/2007 19:40

Can I join in book club? Have just finished reading Atonement - haven't seen film but book was quite good.

Have got a backlog of books to read next, somehow I seem to acquire more books than I have time to read these days

Kewcumber · 18/11/2007 19:54

ohpaddle so sorry to hear DD is still sick - if she is being sick but seeming OK - I'm afriad I may be inclined to try her at CM if your day in work is very important. But thats just me and I'm a baaad woman.

Obviously something in the air becuase DS has had a day of throwing strops over everything though I think he is just tired after being ill for so long. Had 2.5 hr nap today and was still ready for bed (though I can hear he isn't asleep yet) so guess he isn;t feeling 100% yet. So nice that he's quite a bit better though.

We're off to our swimmng lesson tomorrow - so if you are stuck at home I could pop around say teatime paddle. Have to go back to Matalan in the afternoon to take back the orange top - it looks really odd on me.

From what I remember of the last "book club" at Foxies, was just a book swap with lots of tea and cake and chat nothing to do with books at all - it was great!

sfxmum · 18/11/2007 20:14

yes lets do books again

dd thankfully asleep she has been super stroppy today

paddle sorry to hear dd not so well.

SJ troublesome relatives and car trouble, lovely weekend

my MIL just told that what dd needs is a siblingthe subtlety of in laws

Paddlechick666 · 18/11/2007 20:42

kew, i just feel bad sending her off to CM when I know she's ill.

am just on work email now trying to re-organise my day. will ring Dr first thing.

am away on Weds night at a conference that I have organised so really hope dd is better by then.

bummer about that top from Matalan. drop me a text tomorrow and see where we're at.

steppie, yeah i can't visualise the Time Traveller as Eric Bana either. I had him as quite slight with a shock of unruly hair and somewhat scruffy. A bit David Tennant I guess........

OP posts:
fitfox · 18/11/2007 21:37

Who said "David Tennant?"

[dirty old woman emotion]

Paddlechick666 · 19/11/2007 08:02

another dreadful night this end.

dr opens at 9am and i will be first on the phone. we're both feeling like crap now. wonder if i can hijack dd's emergency appt for me too.

just realised i left my travel docs for the conference on Weds in the office

am going to have to try to do some of my work today whilst dd is here. boss is being pretty understanding when i emailed him last night.

question is, why was he on email at 8pm on a sunday night at least i was trying to re-organise my diary!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 19/11/2007 09:18

good morning all

paddle sorry to hear the pair of you had a rough night hope the doc starts sorting it out

all we had here was loud tantrum like phrases in her sleep IT'S MY TURN scream
made me jump

SushiMummy · 19/11/2007 10:03

Oh dear. Sorry paddle. Hope mini-paddle gets better soon.

Neither of us (DS and me) slept well last night as he kept crying thought the night. His skin is really dry and itchy, think this is upsetting him. Can anyone recommend good cream or lotion? I've been using Mellow's stuff but not working atm.

On a more happy note, heard DS singing 'Baa Baa Black Sheep', how very sweet!!

Paddlechick666 · 19/11/2007 10:32

oh blardy christ! i've just had to conduct a live meeting with my entire team on 2 important projects.

the background soundtrack consisted of:

Peppa Pig
DD spitting out raisins
DD yelling at the cleaner
DD banging head and screaming and crying at the top of her voice.

How the fuck do you this working single parent thing?

going to Dr now.

OP posts:
fitfox · 19/11/2007 10:56

Good luc a the GP Paddle [big hugs to you and DD]

Has anyone had any more contat with 2cute sinc her e-mail? I haven't responded yet as I am searching for the words. I just feel like hugging her

Sushi - I swear by Diprobase - get it on prescription in huge tiub and rub loads o all the dry patches. Its not trendy or anything but t is great. I have usedit on DS2's ecsma and his dry skin generally for years and it really helps with the itching. You can also ask for ilatum to pour in his bath (makes it very slippery though)

I got soaked this morning on the school walk - did you Steppy?

Bought some wellies, new umbrella for DS1 and a rain coat for DS2.

DS2's nappy smells like "Essence of Dead Dog" so had better change it hmm]

SushiMummy · 19/11/2007 11:02

Many thanks, Foxie!! Will try and get hold of these asap. BTW, I spotted you near North Sheen on Sat.[stalker alert]

sfxmum · 19/11/2007 12:58

paddle much sympathy you both

just been to see GP who will not give me an early scan will book it for 8wks I think.

she asked my pref of hospital C&W, Kingston or QC I went for QC

she did say that given my age I would be offered a Nuchal as routine, she flattered me by saying she thought I was youngerrather she had agreed to early scan

went to a very wet Sheen Rec so that dd could have a run around but forgot wellies

lemonaid · 19/11/2007 13:20

Just had time to skim... Boo on the (absence of) early scan, sfx. At Kingston you get a nuchal scan as routine no matter how youthful!

Paddle, sorry to hear DD is no better.

We saw the National stage adaptation of His Dark Materials the week before DS was born. I too am looking forward to the film but expecting to be disappointed.

Oh, and we are having a girl (probably... all the usual caveats about u/s scans).

fitfox · 19/11/2007 13:39

Lemon - congrats on your pink and fluffy news!!

sfx - I want to ask how old you are but will ask when I see you next

OK need advice re cleaner. My "first ever" leaner i coming Wednesday, to do 4 hours. 4 bed house - so how does this souns for 4 hours work (my list)

Clean kitchen (incl hob and wipe inside fridge)

Hoover and clean kitchen/conservatory floors

Hoover and wash hallway and two reception rooms wooden floors and kids bedroom floor

Hoover rest of house (2 floors and two stairs)

Clean toilets and bathooms incl floors

Dust and clean window sills and dust/wipe other areas

Empty kitchen bin and wash bin out so it no longer smells of "Essence of Dead Dog"

Does that sound like 4 hours work?

I want to write it down so I don't have to practice my assertiveness training after any misunderstandings

I also want her to clean my ovens (very scary job) but thought I would ask her to do that as a seperate job - maybe another 2 hours?

What do people with acleaner think? Does that sound OK for 4 hours a week? If I am to spend money on a cleaner (stop laughing in the corner Steppy - there are no moths nesting in my purse) then I want to know what has been done.

have I missed any essential cleaning tasks? As someone who avoids cleaning I need som advice

Paddlechick666 · 19/11/2007 13:41

dd has chest infection, i have to have blood tests. dr thinks i may be diabetic

sfx, bummer about the scan. i too had nuchal as standard at St Thomas' Hospital.

lemon, congrats

SJ99 · 19/11/2007 13:45

Hi all

Congrats on finding out about the girl a baby Lemonaid. You can join Paddle & Sfx for girly clothes shopping trips

Sushi - DS used to get dry skin in during winter when younger and we used Miniderm which is fanatstic. Not sure if you can buy it here or not but might be worth asking chemist/doctor about. You can also try placing a glass of water by radiator to increase humidity in his room.

Sorry you didn't get early scan SFX. Do you think you'll go down FMC route?

Paddle sounds tough with DD being ill and you having to try and work when you're not feeling the best & got a lot to juggle, hugs to you both

DH recovering but at home still, have been taking DS out so he can rest at home

Book club sounds like fun

MrsRecycle · 19/11/2007 13:46

how lovely lemonaid - congrats!! No time to scan through - back at work very busy! Just wanted to keep this thread on my active convos as I keep on losing you (any tips anyone??).

Oh and my dear grandma finally passed away on Saturday so we have her funeral on Thursday. Only problem is my mum exchanged on my Grandma's flat on last Thursday and now can't complete the sale (to pay all the nursing fees) as everything goes to probate, even though she has power of attorney. But at least my Grandma is at peace now. It certainly has eased the sadness knowing that she led a full and fulfilled life and puts things into context with 2Cute's dh.

MrsRecycle · 19/11/2007 13:50

Oh no pc poor dd and poor you. You really are going through the mill at the moment aren't you. Maybe you should take sometime off sick from work. Try and look after yourself as the move is going to be very stressful.

foxie - 4 hours does sound a lot - my cleaner does a 4 bedroom house in 3 hours (and that is a lot tidying as well even though we don't want her to). I did ask if she'd consider you but you're just a bit too far out for her.

SJ99 · 19/11/2007 13:50

Sorry to hear about your grandma Mrs R at least as you say she lead a full life and is now resting

Foxie - cleaning list looks good & doable in 4hrs, youc an give it toher and see how long it takes her, if she has any spare time at the end you can add another task like ironing.

Paddle at doc, what makes him/her think you are diabetic?

sfxmum · 19/11/2007 13:52

just remembered I usually bake for these book get togethers

lemonaid congratulations SJ is trying to scary you whatever you do do not click on the link on my earlier post, might be dangerous in your delicate condition.

paddle guess dd is on AB's as for diabetes best sorted it out now, might not even need meds. take care.

foxie that list is making me tired and I will be 39 in early Feb.

SJ yes absolutely must book scan there now

sushi it is cute when they sing as they play, so sweet

bunyanvillas · 19/11/2007 14:11

Fitfox - I think that sounds ok for the cleaner. Lemon, congratulations on your news, how exciting! I am v keen to find out what I am having - but have another 2.5 weeks to wait! Sushi, I can also recommend Diprobase - dd looks as though she's about to swim the channel after we've slathered it all on - but it does the job well. I've also heard that fish oil helps with eczema -you can buy it in liquid form, strawberry flavoured etc - dd loves hers! SFX, sorry to hear you can't get an early scan - but I remember when I contaced the Fetal Medical Centre that they pretty much told me the same - said that they wouldn't be able to see anything before 7 weeks, so I guess that leaving it until 8 weeks is playing it safe. Still, frustrating for you of course. How are you feeling? Cripes Paddle, you poor girl. Still, you might hopefully find that once dd starts the anti-bs that she will make a rapid recovery - it's amazing how they can turn a corner very quickly. I agree with Mrs Recycle that some time off work if you can would be a very good thing - you have an awful lot going on at the moment and need to look after yourself. Sorry, Mrs R about your Grandmother SFX, I am 40 next May!!! So pretty ancient. Is there a book club soon then?

sfxmum · 19/11/2007 14:18

sorry to hear mrsR I remember you talking about her

bunnyan I did ask for 8wks but still not given one no early scans at all, last time I had one at 6wk+5

we are all so youthful it does go by very fast best make the best of it really
