it is actually Tabla Tabla and a few sh sh sounds

SJ poor dh, Patrick steward sounds good, lovely voice.

haven't been to the theatre in ages last time saw Jessica Lange i think in 'longs days journey...'and bumped into Robin Cook in the lobby, quite literally, he was very short and very charming

Paddlechick666 · 17/11/2007 20:41

ooooh a huge saturday night for me.

dd asleep before 7pm, poor little thing. we managed an hour down by the river this arvo.

warm bath, pjs, dressing gown, glass wine and micro curry for me!

weighed myself tonight and looks like i've dropped another 2.5kg. not sure if to be pleased or start getting a bit worried. haven't been this light since i arrived in aus from s. america.......

sj, sorry to hear about your dh. must deffo be a bug going around.

theatre sounds fab tho.

talking of which, my sis gave me a cinema voucher for xmas. last time i went to the movies i was pg and it was sin city.

she says I have to use it to see The Golden Compass. Anyone else love Philip Pullman? I saw both parts of the trilogy dramatised a few years ago and it was fab.

shorts on TV do look good.....

I have such mixed feelings about the film adaptation,
my favourite piece of casting Sam Elliott as Lee Scoresby
guess will have to swallow Nicole Kidman (really don't like her)
must admit Iorek looks fad as do the daemons and Lyra
oh so does Eva Green as Serafina
and all the sets look amazing

oh darn I want to see it and fear will be horribly disappointed

niece and nephew still rave about the stage adaptation

fitfox · 17/11/2007 21:16

Blimey I feel as though I am a cultural desert here!

sfx - Robin Cook eh? You and your Labour Party connections I bet your DD knows who Robi Cook is now too?

Shall we revive our book swap meet soon? Would be a nice warm pre Christmas activity

sfxmum · 17/11/2007 21:26

he is dead you know foxie we keep to living politicians 'that is X you make a spitting sound after his name'

Paddlechick666 · 17/11/2007 21:35

sfx, yes i normally steer clear of movies where i love the book. captain correlli being a case in point.

my faith has been somewhat restored by the HP movies and LTR movies tho. think it's easier to do with SF stuff tbh.

book thingy sounds good, i still have some books belonging to others.

bedtime soon methinks....

sfxmum · 18/11/2007 09:55

good morning all, got up with dd today but really feel like going back to bed now that dh is awake.

hope you are all having a nice quiet Sunday
with LOs feeling better

Kewcumber · 18/11/2007 13:01

jan meet up

Paddlechick666 · 18/11/2007 13:35

hi all

well, dd had a reasonably good night. awake about 3ish for half hour but then slept till 7am.

we're having another cruisy day as she's still running a slight fever and is getting pretty fussy over her food.

am having to give her juice constantly otherwise she just won't drink.

am getting quite worried about tomorrow now. i have to work but also think she should go to the dr and feel guilty about sending her to CM knowing she's not 100%

i am in back to back meetings 9:45 till 5pm tomorrow and i can't reschedule this week.

quandry......

My drinking book club today

[hic!!]

stepfordwife · 18/11/2007 15:36

hi everyone
oh, wouldn'y you know it. dd has just started wailing;maaaamaaa mammmaa' the minute i sneak off to 'check my emails.'
hope everyone having a nicve, albeit, soggy sunday.
well, the barnet is now grey-free but a tad shorte than i'd like.
after i took myself to the richmond filmhouse in water lane (which i al;ways forget about) and saw brick lane, ate a large bar of chocolate and drank coffee.
bliss.
enjoyed film, haven't read the book, tho.
oh dear, can't ignore the wailing any more,it's now high-pitched and ds1 is tutting..
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 18/11/2007 15:38

oh i'd be up for a book meet - is it like a book club thing then.
am reading the traveler's daughter which i really didn't think i'd enjoy. but i am.
might read brick lane next..

stepfordwife · 18/11/2007 15:41

traveler's wife, even

sfxmum · 18/11/2007 15:52

paddle sympathy for your situations really, guess no point asking how H might help.

steppie is that the time traveller's wife? I read that and enjoyed some bit's trying to guess how the 'visits' fitting into the overall story but ultimately I felt it was quite sentimental - film in production unsurprisingly

we have been without water since morning, honestly despite the cold I would rather be without heating. no sign of it being fixed any time soon

Paddlechick666 · 18/11/2007 16:06

i enjoyed the time travellers wife. not sure it would translate well into a movie tho....

sfx, sounds chilly your end. hope it gets fixed soon. it has crossed my mind to tell h he must fill in but seeing as how he can text from a bus going past the end of the street but not actually come to visit his child i doubt he could be arsed to take time off from his super important job to look after her.

also, i worry about the effect it would have on dd. last time he spent a day with her she got hysterical when he got out of the car to nip into a shop quickly.

we have been housebound all day. dd is faking being sick, well i think that's what she's doing.

i'm exhausted by inactivity, not to mention bored senseless!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 18/11/2007 16:15

and no sooner had I typed the water returned, the heating is fine quite toasty here.

I do actually find it hard work being stuck with a toddler indoors all day, not easy at all, often after being poorly they do get clingy.

dd got annoyed with me today and told me to go away that she wanted her daddy it is actually amusing.

best go do some dishes.

have GP tomorrow and am hoping she will send me for an early scan otherwise will book this one at the FMC as well as the later one.

Paddlechick666 · 18/11/2007 16:36

tbh, i am tempted to contact H just because i am utterly fed up with looking after a sick child now after 7 days of it.

he'd find some way to avoid it tho i'm sure.

glad the water's back on.

dd also told me she loves daddy this afternoon - don't really know why as i never mention him. probably not a good parent for that but what can i say about him really.....

managed to pack a couple of small boxes this arvo, found our peppa pig cd so there is some advantages to packing!

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 18/11/2007 17:10

DOH! yes, time traveler's wife (author's american spelling, btw, haven't got yet another thing wrong...hopefully!)

oh dear, can imagine how a movie will make it terribly sentimental and can see the special effects and music for his sudden disappeartnces/reappearances now!

yes, it is very hard work,. es[peciallyu mentally, being housebound with a toddler all day. very unlike us, myself andf dd haven't been out all day. and she's been in one of those 'fussy' moods
'no, mama do it."
when mama tries to do it
"No, me do it!"
and so on..
have just follwed her aroiund clearing up trails of devasrtation, feeling guilkty ds1 isn'\t getting a look-in - only to hewlp me clear up mess..ds2 is at flicks with dh.

sfx, sure gp will send you for an early scan if you insist on it. good luck.
paddle, must be so hard resenting h for not taking his share of responsibility but at the same time loathing to give it to him in case he's not up to it..

sfxmum · 18/11/2007 17:19

Eric Bana of Hulk fame and Rachel McAdams are the leads on the movie adaptation.

dd just asked me if I am wrinklyand to think I was 2 days in labour....
standard response 'yes darling mummy is old'

stepfordwife · 18/11/2007 17:31

SFX, dear god..
actually, don't think i've ever seen rachel mcadams in anything..

yes, they can always be relied on to make you feel wonderful about yourself, can' they?

on the (very) rare occasion i put on make-up, ds1 is almost inconsolable. he shouts to dh who's probably starting the car;'Daaaaaaaad, Mum's trying to make herself pretty....it's going to take so loooooong."

it's the combination trying and his utter despair that crack me up.

sfxmum · 18/11/2007 17:42

she was in Mean Girls which was funny but I think her biggest success was in The Notebook a romantic movie which I have not seen, not my thing, but will probably end up watching in some rainy hormone soaked afternoon in a few years

stepfordwife · 18/11/2007 17:50

physically they're just not how i imagine the characters at all...but that's always the way, isn't it?
and don't forget the chocolate, sfx..
or what's the food of the devil you like? peanut butter and something even sicklier on ryvita, right?

sfxmum · 18/11/2007 18:58

steppie think you are right on the physical type always thought he would be skinnier runner type.

dh decided to buy chocolate cake for pudding today he must be stopped at once

oh and it is marmalade with peanut butter yum

can't wait for child to be asleep and I can switch off my brain, she is currently talking to her granny
