Mine,

I had a quick look at the Stork Club, which is in Bush Hill so I might check it out as well, for a bit of extra re assurance. maybe next week.

Jello39 · 09/04/2008 19:07

It looks like it could be good for a chat and a chance to meet other Mums in the area?? good for a next meeting point?

Harri1 · 09/04/2008 21:04

Hi jello- follow your instinct without a doubt, you will soon know your baby and he will know you too.
Sleep when he sleeps even if it means your day is topsy turvy too.
He will settle into his routine soon just keep positive and never say that you are inadequate- you are a mum and you are doing your best for your boy

Mine · 09/04/2008 21:47

jello - i ditto Harri. You are certainly not inadequate. there is nothing you could do that will ever be wrong by him, just keep doing what you're doing. Listen to yourself, talk lots to dh and do what you think is best. Some advice from mums are good to listen and adhere to but it really depends on what it is. If you feel its not right. don;t do it.

The biggest mistake dh and i made in the early days/weeks of Eren's life was that we listened to far too many people's advice on what was best to do for OWR son re sleep, feeding, bf, bathing, basically everything! Worst of all we took too much heed from hv & midwives with conflicting advice.

So listen to yourself, you're his mummy and you know best, even if you've never done this before. Just take each hour and day as it comes. Forget routines if you can, they will form on their own in time, and soon enough you'll be able to establish one.

I was in your shoes 6 months ago and now i'm a confident yummy mummy!!

love

Hi everyone

Not been up to much. Have been at my mums today as the builders have been in making lots more dust. Haven't looked at stork club yet but happy to meet up anywhere (relatively cheap )

Jello, you#re not inadequate. In the first few weeks of Luc's life I found giving him a bath such a lot of hassle and he would scream, so the poor little mite didn't get washed much There's no need for mothers in law to know these things. Do what you feel happiest doing. You will soon learn to smile and nod as unwanted advice goes straight over your head I reckon by the time we give birth we've read so many books and websites we're all experts anyway.

Take care.

hey sarah

we've not worked out when or where we're meeting up yet, but it'll be some time next week. Keep an eye on this thread and you'll see.

My ds is 6 months old, he is my first, and for a long time i kept saying my last, but recently i have been dreaming of another but not for a very long time!!!!!!

I live in Ponders End, Enfield, so not too far away from you.
See you soon,
x

Mine · 11/04/2008 20:26

How are things going jello....????

Vicky31 · 14/04/2008 08:24

Is anyone there....?

Have had a bad few days with Luc as he keeps waking up and being ready to play at around 5.50am. He's perfectly happy but I'm shattered. I think it's because it's lighter now. We have blackout linings on the curtains and a blackout blind but still the room isn't dark enough as the light gets in round the edges.

Jello - hope you're surviving. Luc slept alot as a newborn but I was too anxious to enjoy it at the time. Make the most of it.

Hope everyone else is ok. What day do you all fancy meeting up?

Mine · 14/04/2008 09:21

hey vicky,
you must be so irritated re Luc's early wake up call. Eren does the same to me. I'm so tired by the end of the day.. in fact by around 7pm!
If you find a solution, please share.

I'm free most of this week, not much going on in my life this week!!
Any ideas on where we could meet up..?

x

Harri1 · 14/04/2008 09:33

Hello everyone
Jello hope all is going wel...

Vicky and mine hi ladies can do any day this week except thursday,

Vicky poor you b4 6 sounds and feels like the middle of the night yuck! Will he not settle himself back to sleep if you leave him? (Assuming he's not crying...)

How about meeting in Palmers Green again -coffee/cake in starbucks and a walk in the park weather permitting? And perhaps we'll persuade jello to join us with her lovely ds.
x

Vicky31 · 14/04/2008 10:18

That sounds good. Is that near the soft play place? I can do any day (at least none of us have a life and we're all in it together). If the weatherman is right then tomorrow and Wednesday are going to be the nicest days so how about one of them?

Luc laughs and chats to himself for a while in the morning and I lay in bed waiting for the dreaded moment when it turns to whinging and I have to get up. Last night we tried giving him more milk at the last feed, but as he doesn't wake up from hunger that didn't help. Today I'm gonna see what I can do to make his room a bit darker. If that doesn't work I might see if I can get his daytime naps into more of a routine as I think sometimes he gets a bit too much sleep during the day - but what else can you do when your baby is crying because he's tired?! If I find a solution I'll certainly share it

Today I have the plasterers in. I can't wait for my building work to be finished and have the house to myself again.

Mine · 14/04/2008 10:59

wednesday is good for me.
DH has the day off tomorrow... might go to london zoo.....

i wonder how jello is...??

Harri1 · 14/04/2008 15:45

Wednesday sounds good shall we say 12.30 at starbucks?
parking at morrisons is free for 3 hours so that will be easy for all and starbucks and the park are easy from there.

Aldermans Hill
Palmers Green
N13 4YD this is the address if you want to route plan it.

Look forward to seeing you all

Jello- hope all is well and perhaps you'll feel up to a walk on weds

Shefi and sarah feel free to join us and perhaps next time we'll meet up closer to someone else

Mine- enjoy the zoo how exciting
Vicky- builders will soon be gone just hang in there. And keep going with all your doing with Luc hope it'll get easier.

Mine · 14/04/2008 17:26

wednesday, 12.30 starbucks palmers green..... is that the one near Clown Town...??
I think its almost opposite McDonalds too..

i'll be there.

Can you guys help me out.. Eren has had such terrible constipation te last 2 days, today has been the worst. He cries when he's trying to poo, which he never did before. he strains so badly thats its heartbreaking to watch. Problem is his efforts are all for a golf ball size poo that i could crack nuts with.

Have you guys experienced this..?
If so what can i do?? (other than give him water.. done that)

Vicky31 · 14/04/2008 18:46

Luc has had similar problems and I called the health visitor about it the other day. She suggested giving either fresh orange juice (without bits) diluted 1 part orange to 3 parts water, or half a teaspoon of demarera sugar in a couple of ounces of water. I didn't do either in the end as the problem sorted itself out later that day As he's well established on solids you could also try a bit more fruit in his diet. How's that going by the way?

Hope that helps the poor little fella.

12.30 Wednesday sounds fine and dandy to me.

Harri1 · 14/04/2008 19:46

Mine sorry can't help haven't got there yet, probably to do with solids. Have heard the orange juice thing though and more fruit should help. Poor eren.

Yes starbucks is almost opp mcdonalds but try and park in morrisons as its cheaper than m&s carpark
