Hi Jello, I bought raspberry leaf tea today. I still have about 10 days to go, but getting pretty excited so decided to start drinking the tea. Don't have a clue whether it works, but it's worth the try I suppose. Went for a long walk in the park today- the weather was real nice, so could not stay indoors.

Mine · 04/04/2008 18:24

hi Shefi

good luck with the baby, not long to go now.
Do you know what you're having????

Vicky31 · 04/04/2008 18:57

Hi everyone

Welcome Shefi and good luck with the tea. I was really excited to meet the little wriggly thing in my tummy by the end of my pregnancy. Good luck with it. It will be good to have another new new mummy in our group. I'm sure Jello must have popped - she's awfully quiet otherwise.

I had a much better day today. Luc was happy, the sun was shining and we visited my mum.

I know what you mean about wanting some time to yourself Mine. Who would have thought there could be so many hours in the day and not one of them to devote to yourself? Maybe we should arrange with mums or mils to babysit at a regular time each week and just do something indulgent.

Dh is home! I have adult company

Jello39 · 04/04/2008 21:03

Hi Everyone,

Welcome Shefi, how's your pregnancy been. I bet the wait is killing you now. will be nice to meet you at some stage. I'm on the Palmers Green/Winchmore Hill border.

afraid to say girls I am still preggers. I did have an hour of contractions at midnight and a couple of hours this afternoon which I hope is a good sign and doc has now told me today that head is now 2/5 engaged.

Shefi - try the tea although someone told me today it only helps once your body is ready for labour , i'm going to try some more this eveninig. Apart from the other usuals, I've also been told to try Evening Primerose Oil, or try a massage, reflexology or Shiatsu.

hope everyone else is OK.

re time to yourself ladies, I think you should get the blokes to look after the babies at weekend r even say one evening so all get together for just a couple of hours to indulge.

Off to try the nipple stimulation which I think might be helping. maybe I'll get DH to help out tonight

Mine · 04/04/2008 21:19

go Jello!!!
get that baby out my any means necessary!

Jello39 · 05/04/2008 15:06

Hi Mine,

no go on that then. but we had fun trying...

I think lo has read the weather report for the weekend. Contractions totally stopped now.

of shopping hubby has finally told me hates the kettle I bought so.. we are having to get another one. not protesting, too much hassle.

off to do my shop at Tesco to keep me in the Baby/Toddler Club.

Vicky31 · 05/04/2008 15:29

Wow, I didn't know anyone could feel strongly enough about a kettle to actually hate it Although I do hate our toaster so maybe there is something to it
Hope your waters don't break in Tesco.

I was just in Tesco myself and met my best friend from nursery and primary school. We went to different secondary schools and lost touch but she lives just round the corner from me and is also home with her kids. Another daytime friend! And it's nice to know someone who last saw me 20 years ago can still recognise me.

Dh and I have had a little bet on the Grand National. If I win anything I'll spend it on new clothes as I finally did my wardrobe clearout today that I've been meaning to do for ages. I don't have much left.

Hope you are all having nice weekends.

Mine · 05/04/2008 21:30

Keep drinking the tea Jello.... you never know it may work eventually!
I never tried that to be honest, as my waters broke the day after by due date

Hope you have the baby soon.

Vicky did you win...??
I'm wabbish a betting on anything, so yet again i didn't bet on the grand national.

Went shopping today to pick up a few bits for Eren re holiday. Got him some cute bits from M&S. Shockily found out once reading the size labels on clothes that he is too big for 6-9 month clothes, but is in the weight range for 12-18month ones! He really is a porker.
Must try and control his eating, but not sure how .......

Vicky31 · 06/04/2008 13:41

My horse came third so I get a little bit of money.

I don't pay too much attention to baby clothes sizes as they're all different and don't seem to bear any relation to what fits. I find just holding them up and looking the best way to judge what will fit Luc. At least porker babies are cute He'll probably burn it all off when he's crawling and walking.

Are you taking Eren swimming on holiday? A friend uses Huggies little swimmers which apparently are good.

Have'nt heard from Harri in a while. Are you out there....?

Mine · 06/04/2008 16:38

hi vicky
we willbe taking him swimming on holiday. I'v looked into the higgies swimmers, they are perfect but i have a weight problem... i'm only allowed 20kg between us, so i need to really streamline what i can take.

Our hotel is in the middle of nowhere so i can;t buy nappies from any local supermarket, thus have to take my own and sacrifice the swimmers

Agree re clothing sizes. Sometimes they mean nothing.

Harri - where are you???
Don;t tell me you have a life and can;t get on line!!!!!!!
I want one too!

Harri1 · 07/04/2008 12:02

Mine · 08/04/2008 13:12

hi folks

looks like everyone has been quite busy recently.
I've had 3 consecutive days of 'dinner parties'...... as in i cook and other people eat whilst i try to hide my absolute fatigue.

anyway, anyone fancy meeting up next week....??

Vicky31 · 08/04/2008 14:03

I'm up for next week. I forgot to ask how the soft play place was last time? Any day is good for me....I have no life

Harri, what did you do on your grown up night out? I think me and dh need to scrape some money together and have a night out ourselves.

Hope you pregnant/popping ladies are doing ok.

Mine · 08/04/2008 18:21

hi vicky

soft play venue in palmers green didn't work out great for the babies, but was a good catch up for us mums/mums to be!!
They closed off the baby bit so Eren and Erin just stared at the grown ups eating junk food.

I think i can do almost any day next week expt monday afternoon as getting the midget weighed.

Hi to everyone.
HAve you pregnant women popped yet....???

Jello39 · 08/04/2008 18:56

Hi Everyone,

well we went to Tescos for the Kettle, but didnt find anything. Did leave though with contractions which then stopped an hour later. Started up again on Sunday morning, DH rushed me off to hospital as there was so much snow falling. Worried I would give birth at home?????

Long and short of it, the new addition to our family is Aaron Dominic Baxter born Sunday 07 April 08 at 21:55 hrs weighing 7 lbs .

I'm rather shattered as I have only had about 4 hours sleep in the last 48 hours so forgive my spelling.

Back at home now, already feeling much relaxed and will catch up with you all in a couple of days.

Luv Jello xxxx

Mine · 08/04/2008 20:04

OMG!!! You're a MAMA

Congrats to you and DH!!
How is the little munchkin??
How was the labour/Birth???
We want details woman!

You must be shattered, its a massive shock to the system no matter how many books you've read so good luck to you both, hope Aaron is well.

Bigs hugs

Mine · 09/04/2008 16:39

has anyone heard of 'The Stork Club'...???

Jello39 · 09/04/2008 18:04

hi,

thanks for the well wishes.

not heard of the Stork Club, what's that.

had a trying time last night. I know it wouldnt be easy but had a bad night last night as Aaron wouldnt sleep.

Any advice girls for me. He woke up at 12 midnight so gave him breast both sides, wouldnt sleep and seemed to be still hungry so gave him a top up off formula, still wouldnt sleep, , finally went down at 6am this morning slept for 4 hours woke again, fed him twice more, but didnt go back to sleep until 4pm this afternoon. He went to sleep yesterday afternoon at the same time and he slept for 5 hrs, thinking of waking him up earlier and doing the bedtime routine tonight in the home I can getting him to sleep through the night as soon as.

Mine · 09/04/2008 18:20

Oh Jello, welcome to our world!

The first few weeks Aaron will be very unsettled as he's trying to settle into the world outside your nice warm tummy.

Eren was the same as your ds for abt 6 weeks!! then just miraculously switched.
I guess all you can do is just keep feeding on demand and he will find his own routine as the days/ weeks go on. Its very early days for setting a routine, i know thats not what you want to hear, but believe me it will get much easier hon.

Your hv should offer help and support, although i found that most of the time the help you need is really around 3am!

Sleep when you can and just forget about anything re the house if you can.
Do you have anyone to help you out other than dh...??

If you need anything you can just call me, i'm happy to help out. I know what its like, in fact sometimes it feels like it was yesterday....

xx

Vicky31 · 09/04/2008 18:29

Hi Jello

Congrats again. Can't wait to meet Aaron.

Sounds like you had a tough night. I'd read Gina Ford while I was pregnant and when Luc came along I was obsessed with doing all the right things in order to get him into a routine quickly. I was worried he was sleeping too much during the day and was waking him every four hours at night to feed him. If I did it again I think I'd now just try to chill out as much as possible for the first 3 or 4 weeks and I'd never wake him. All babies are different, but I think you're probably fighting a losing battle trying to implement a routine so early on. All I know is that I felt much happier and calmer when I stopped trying.

Sounds like you're doing great though. I don't think I'd have even been able to find my keyboard let alone type a literate message when Luc was so young.

I got fed up of people telling me that the first six weeks are the hardest, but it turned out to be totally true. Just hang on in there and know that it will get better soon. And those weeks really do fly by.

I hope everyone is taking care of you and making a fuss of you as well as the baby. Doesn't it feel weird to know that that little bubba was inside you?

xx

Jello39 · 09/04/2008 18:59

Hi Vicky, Mine,

thanks for the advice, I feel so inadequate at the moment, with mother and mother-in-law both telling me what they think I should be doing, feeding every 4 hours, bathing, puttin talc on them, they are quite old so some of the things they are telling me are things not advised anymore, should I listen to them ?? or just follow my instinct.

I will let him sleep for now and just go with the flow. dh is being very helpful, he is just as exhausted as me as he was up part of the night with him as well, and also this morning. he is very patient and is running around doing all the cooking and cleaning, shopping as well.

we will just persevere.
