Why are there so few MNers in Cambridge?

Just curious really, as to why it might be

Grin my dds will have to put up with my botched efforts! Do you do have a shop?

CaveMum · 01/03/2012 21:47

Ooo Dedalus, I'm intrigued!

[waves @ ChasingSquirrals] Are you a racing bod?

AuntieBulgaria · 01/03/2012 21:48

TheFowlAndThePussycat - do you own part of a pig? Grin

(sorry, if you're not who I'm taking a totally wild guess at you being that's going to sound well weird...)

maamalady · 01/03/2012 21:51

Another Cambridge-ish villager here (and I've never posted in MN Local - I have no idea why I would want to). I love Cambridge :)

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 01/03/2012 21:53

I absolutely do AuntieBulgaria Grin I think I have spotted you here before, the last time we met was a bit wetter was it not? (Now we both sound properly weird Grin)

AuntieBulgaria · 01/03/2012 21:58

Ha!

Hello Grin. Yes, our mutual friend said you'd pegged me from a rant on here that I repeated on facebook.

Will have to name change for fanjo-related posts now Wink.

ChasingSquirrels · 01/03/2012 22:06

Not a racing bod, although DP like a bet (or more!).
Worked in Camb for 8 years, then moved to NM when employer opened an office there, about 4 years ago.
10 minute drive across the heath V 45 min slog into Camb (on a good day) - bliss

CaveMum · 01/03/2012 22:13

Ah I see. Rate to find someone in Newmarket that's not connected to racing in some way Grin

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 01/03/2012 22:14

I did I'm afraid, if I'd have known you made fanjo-related posts I never would have mentioned it! [wonders about own posting history...]

Trills · 01/03/2012 22:14

Fuck, there have been loads of posts whle I've been off eating student food.

Trills · 01/03/2012 22:20

The two people I met at Xmas are still not here.

As I said, I have no children, I just like to chat to:
women
who don't write in text speak
about all kinds of things

Those 3 criteria basically rule out most of the internet, which is largely full of:
men
writing in text speak
about the specific topic that the forum is about

Trills · 01/03/2012 22:20

(that's kind of an and/or rather than a +/and/must)

Fishandjam · 01/03/2012 22:28

I'm in a village near Huntingdon.

And I know my neighbour opposite is an MNer, but I don't know if she knows I know her username...

DamonSalvatoreIsMyLoveSlave · 01/03/2012 22:36

I'm another "edge of Cambridge" mumsnetter - just west. Popping to the grand arcade tomorrow for some retail therapy! I'm a bit weird really. I like the idea of meeting local mumsnetters but I also quite like being anonymous too. I'd probably man up and join in if there was a meet up though Smile

Oh and I have a mn scarf too... [nudge nudge wink wink]

Trills · 01/03/2012 22:38

Huntingdon is actually quite a long way away, isn;t it?

I don't have the scarf, I wouldn't really know what to do with it

Trills · 01/03/2012 22:39

If you do a meetup you have to be willing to have the following conversation:

Hello I'm MNname1

Hi I'm MNname2

Oh

Er

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 01/03/2012 22:42

Smile does this look like we are edging towards a gathering?

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 01/03/2012 22:44

I live out the 'other' way

near Helluvahole iykwim!

cbmum · 01/03/2012 22:46

Another central Cambridge one for the list. Children not old enough for school yet but go to a central nursery. I confess I've never purchased a fruit shoot and my girls think a glass of water in a cafe with a straw is a treat Blush

Hi rubyrubyruby

Anyone seen lenin recently, I thought she was local?

sairygamp · 01/03/2012 22:54

should be public now....

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 01/03/2012 23:09

Smile yes it is Sairy

CheeseandGherkins · 01/03/2012 23:13

I'm in central Cambridge a fair bit for shopping etc, often at the grand arcade

AuntieBulgaria · 01/03/2012 23:26

Sunday April 1st for a meet up? :-)

Milton Park does have the advantages of a nice cafe and plenty of space if you don't like the look of us and it's five minutes from my house.

Otherwise I'm championing The Missing Sock near Stow cum Quy for trying so hard to be a groovy, child friendly place to be.
