Why are there so few MNers in Cambridge?

Just curious really, as to why it might be

I met two MNers who were Cambridge-ish at the last Xmas meetup. I think we were on 3 trains in a row.

cleoismycat · 01/03/2012 18:14

I'm in Cambridge, well in a village just North.

overmydeadbody · 01/03/2012 18:20

oooh

Glad to see there are more than a few of us after all! Perhaps I just needs to go to a few MN meetups to find the other Cambridge locals!

I am very very curious as to whether anyone else here has children at DS's school in the City Centre? I wonder if I know any of you and just haven't realised you're MNers! Grin

One of my friends has come back (after a good few years) to do a PGCE so I am going to Hall for dinner tonight. :o

sairygamp · 01/03/2012 18:24

I think there are a few....I am always checking at the school gates for 'signs'. It's a bit of an MN school.....

sairygamp · 01/03/2012 18:26

I work right in the town centre too, and definitely know nothing about research or engineering

CaveMum · 01/03/2012 18:31

I work in a certain horsey town about 12 miles east of Cambridge Wink

sairygamp · 01/03/2012 18:32

let me think......Um, New Haverhill ?? Grin

sairygamp · 01/03/2012 18:32

Me and DH had our last 'romantic' night away in newmarket last year. Lovely town, nice hotel too.

PoppadumPreach · 01/03/2012 18:33

I'm in a cambridgeshire village too - the southside of the city - anyone else?

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 01/03/2012 18:34

I'm in Cambridge.

DD had a fruit shoot after school today (a rare "treat" as the coffee shop didn't have proper OJ). I looked suitably ashamed.

There was a meet-up thread running for a while, and I once met two fellow MNers at Milton Country Park for coffee and promptly scared them off

sairygamp · 01/03/2012 18:37

I'm getting quite excited by all these new Cambridge threads. I wonder if I know any of you....

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 01/03/2012 18:46

Trill, someone on my antenatal thread.

Cavemum, I believe we have met on mn about racehorses, I wonder if we have met in real life?

CaveMum · 01/03/2012 18:48

Dedalus, it's possible! I don't have any children, yet Grin

AuntieBulgaria · 01/03/2012 18:55

I'm an edge of Cambridge MNetter too. And I know quite a few people in real life in Cambs who read MN but I haven't ever asked their identities so I don't know if they post. I have a 4 y.o. DD who will start school in September. I've met 3 MNetters through saying hello on the local boards. Would be happy to do a meet if people fancy it ?

sairygamp · 01/03/2012 18:57

I'd like to. I tend to get ignored on the main threads :(

PoppadumPreach · 01/03/2012 19:00

i get ignored, deleted or shouted at!

EauRouge · 01/03/2012 19:24

I'm a Cambridgeshire villager too. I know there is a MNer in the next village over but I don't think I've met her IRL.

There was a meet up thread ages ago and I think some people met up in Milton park, I couldn't make it though.

sairygamp · 01/03/2012 19:37

does anyone have a child at Morley?

CheeseandGherkins · 01/03/2012 19:43

I'm in a Cambridge "village", south west ish

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 01/03/2012 19:44

Cavemum, looking at your profile info I would guess that there would be someone we both know, in particular I mean.

overmydeadbody · 01/03/2012 19:47

Damn, DS isn't at Morley.

Maybe we should do another meetup? Or something more informal, like I'll be at the Jesus Green park tomorrow after school...bring a fruit shoot and wear the MN scarf...

Then if we go along and get scared at the last minute no one is stood up and we don't have to come forward unless we are feeling really brave, or if we already know each other it won't matter anyway! Grin
