Glasgow schol shut 1 December

Just in case anyone hasn't found out yet - especially as the GCC website has fallen over - all Glasgow schools are shut today.

i have dd at same school also, doggie.
accuweather says thaw is coming next week, then RAIN forever.

No I wasn't, the snowwould have made it a 90 minute trip by public transport for me.

So I stayed at home and drank wine hot chocolate!

DD is in p2, Miss Thomson. She somehow seems to know everyone in the school so I would imagine she might know your DC.

We were at the p1-p3 assembly on Monday morning cos DD was playing Dannii Minogue in the X Factor sketch they did. I don't think we will make it to the xmas fayre (wish it was at the weekend again). Didn't make it to the St Andrew's day thang either, was it good Aitch? DD seemed to enjoy it anyway.

Most folks know my dd2 as she spent p1 and most of p2 in a wheelchair. That totally identifies our family!

ah ha, i have sussed it now, your kids are all at the gaelic school , n'est pas? was confused by long bus journeys on council bus in glasgow

West Lothian schools and nurseries are shut the rest of the week, hopefully open Monday. Council have a facebook page (i know, i know) but they have been updating it really regularly and has been a quick effective way of letting people know what's happening.
Re the poster who moaned about councils employing more local teachers - i live and work in west lothian, I'm only a 20 minute drive from school but there's no way I'd make it into school this week!

My dd's nursery in Glasgow phoned me today to tell me about the closure. The staff were all phoning using their own personal mobiles so they could get through as many calls as quickly as possible. Not sure if they were phoning all parents or just those who work but I was very impressed.

Had already decided to not go in today as my not so "d"h had decided to go out yesterday evening and got our car stuck. Hoping that they close them for tomorrow as well so I don't have to battle with the 2 separate drop offs then trip to work

Another gaidhlig school mamaidh here, usually quietly watching from afar.... our transport cancelled yesterday morning at 7.30 and again today. Not looking likely for tomorrow.

Didn't know there were somany SGG mums on here! kind of thinking ours will be off due to transport. Hope so!!!!

Glasgow City Council web-site has fallen over again and their twitter site has not been updated. Has anyone heard anything?

As of yesterday, they had said that they intended to open the schools although indivisulat schools may be closed and to check the web-site
