Just had good news and now know that we definitely will be based in Chatswood

I'll be more than willing to drive somewhere. Have Garmin will travel (without getting lost too much ;)

My diary is wide open as i'm still 'Billy no mates'

I'll drop you an email about sharing a cab, brightongirl. I'm at Olive's on Darling St, which seems to be the only internet access in the whole suburb. Might not check my email tomorrow as we are off to solicitors to sign wills and do other adult stuff (let it be noted that it wasn't me talking about porn careers), but should be able to on thursday.

Hooray! I am really looking forward to this.

MrsBigD · 25/06/2008 03:49

a semi-final roll-call for Friday

All wearing 'COD' on them somewhere and loitering at the bottom of the escalator atound 20:30?

OP posts:
brightongirldownunder · 25/06/2008 04:11

I'm not sure if the Coderator's friend can make it - she mentioned yesterday that she may not be able to do it.
Looking forward!
ND - lets def. share cabs. Will call you maybe - if I'm lucky and DD settles we could go for acheeky one here first

MrsBigD · 25/06/2008 06:22

well hopefully I won't be the only person showing up LOL

OP posts:
arfishy · 25/06/2008 11:39

Advanced warning: I have broken toes.

I will still do my best to turn up. I'm sure a couple of bottles glasses of the Opera House's finest will be a suitable anaesthetic. I broke the news do DD tonight to wails of anguish. Will try again tomorrow with suitable bribes.

Which escalator are we talking about? The first escalator to the lower levels you reach if you're coming from the direction of Circular Quay?

What are we all wearing [shallow emoticon]. Dressy or not?

brightongirldownunder · 25/06/2008 14:25

Shit arfishy - how did you do that? Please still come, even if we have to carry you!
Yes to escalator and don't know about anyone else but how about semi-dressy?

MrsBigD · 25/06/2008 22:38

arfishy how did you manage to break your toes? We'll defo carry you!

noting down 'first escalator to lower levels oming from Cirular Quay'

As for semi-dressy... I have to see what my limited wardrobe wealds! I might be able to rustle up black jeans and shirt

OP posts:
arfishy · 26/06/2008 00:31

I was just clumsy. They're not too painful now but wearing shoes is tricky because of the bruising.

Semi dressy eh? Hmmmmmm.

aquasea · 26/06/2008 01:41

Bollocks bollocks bollocks. looks like I won't be able to come after all. Apparently my SIL is desperate to see me on my own and Friday night is the only time we can do it. Maybe she needs to bitch talk about our in-laws
So, that's a definite no, I won't be there. Gutted.

brightongirldownunder · 26/06/2008 02:57

semi dressy does not mean only partially clothed arfishy, so no belts for skirts! I reckon everyone should come in what they are happiest in - nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable.
Aquasea you will be sorely missed. Enjoy in-law bitching with copious amounts of alcohol (i'm sure!}

MrsBigD · 26/06/2008 03:47

Aquasea... just bring her along LOL we'll leav you two to it for about 1h and then your ours! nothing like a lovely glass of something in nice settings for a bitching talking session ;)

arfishy... semi-dressy with birkenstock shoes should do the trick for your poor toes! I feel for you. I broke my little toe a couple of times and that was bad enough...

roll call

Sorry but I'm not going to be able to make it tonight. I could make up an excuse, but the truth is I've had an absolutely shit week including finding out our landlord wants to sell the house we're in despite the fact that we've just signed a new tenancy agreement, I have the period from hell and the idea of meeting new people and having to be sociable makes me want to crawl into bed and pull the covers up even though I am sure you are all absolutely delightful Have a fantastic evening and hopefully I'll get to meet you all next time.

arfishy · 27/06/2008 10:03

OK, so how many and confirmation?

I'm still looking like a complete scruff bag, it's been a very busy day and I still have two 5 year olds causing chaos here. I didn't find time to do my hair or nails but will make a valiant effort to appear.

Still 8.30 at escalator down to lower floor near opera bar?

Sorry you couldn't make it sunnyD. Next time (I promise we won't be a clique by then ok?)

MrsBigD · 27/06/2008 23:17

morning ladies... how was it? Sorry I was a no show, dh got delayed a work (just started there so could hardly tell them where to shove it..) and by the time he got home I was in such a mood that I just wanted to hide as well

Sunnydelight... hope you're feeling better today. I know what it's like when the sh*te is piling up and nothing seems to go the way you want/need it to. As for landlord wanting to sell... hopefully that will take some time.

OP posts:
arfishy · 28/06/2008 01:12

It was excellent

[has huge fry up]

We got thrown out of the Opera Bar when it shut.

Everybody was lovely. NineDragons is a VERY bad influence.

ninedragons · 29/06/2008 00:48

er, as I recall, it was YOU who said at 12.30 hey let's get champagne .

Has anyone heard from Violent Femme? Nowhere in the Lonely Planet Guide To Travel Health is five bottles of wine recommended to cure jet lag. Or maybe it is - I have the 1998 edition and you know what they're like about updating everything each year.

I had an absolutely cracking time and can't wait to do it again. I was all set with excuses for next time in case you were boring and, well, mumsy, but I had a blast.

arfishy · 29/06/2008 03:34

I didn't say anything about me being a
GOOD influence.

No, haven't heard from VioletFemme yet, but I don't think she's online fully yet.

Yep, I had a great time. It was like being on a really good thread but with outrageous amounts of wine and a harbour view.

ViolentFemme · 29/06/2008 09:49

Hello I am here now! Online at last.

I had a hoot, thanks for making my first week in Oz a goodun!

PS, Apologies for falling asleep. It was not a reflection on the company. I was simply following the advice of the Lonely Planet Guide to Travel Health, 2008 edition to drink as much wine as possible to combat jetlag (cheers ninedragons!) Suffice to say I also fell asleep in the ferry terminal AND on the ferry.

You are all BAD girls.

When's the next one?

MrsBigD · 29/06/2008 11:32

oh I'm gutted now. I should have dragged myself out and try and hunt you down at about 22:00! Wasn't brave enough for that though ... so for next meet I'll ditch the kids with the neighbours if dh isn't back in time!!!

OP posts:
aquasea · 29/06/2008 22:04

I am so glad you all had such a brilliant time Still gutted I missed it! I would much rather have been with you guys from the sounds of things. Will definitely be there for the next one.

sunnydelight · 01/07/2008 09:57

Sounds like a good time was had by all. Now if I'd known that you were all serious drinkers...

ninedragons · 01/07/2008 14:34

We did ask one woman in a greenish shirt if she was looking for us and she just stared at us and said NO.

Well that was us told. Bet she would have had a better time with us than with whoever she was meeting.

I am back in SH. Baby was surprisingly angelic on the flight and Qantas were ace! I haven't flown them for a long time and all those battleaxe flight attendants who used to look at you like you'd asked for cunnilingus when you wanted a measly little glass of water have been given the boot. Probably gone to Continental or one of those crappy American airlines.

I was going to volunteer our place for any post-November meet-ups as we have a pool but then realised that means being in my swimmers with three unfeasibly glamourous MNers so let's stick to bars, eh?

ninedragons · 01/07/2008 14:51

Forgot to say, Sydney airport gets more outrageously bad every time I fly. I left DD in her seat while I took (literally) two steps from the car to say goodbye to my dad, and some officious cow was on her radio reporting an abandoned baby! I couldn't BELIEVE it!

It is the Heathrow of the Southern Hemisphere.

brightongirldownunder · 01/07/2008 15:10

Oohh ninedragons you are awful!
I've only just recovered from last friday. i totally lay the blame at your door! My feet are twisted wrecks of their former selves.

Arfishy - you really made me laugh - especially when you were trying to get intouch with MrsBigD via your blackberry!

Violentfemme - totally amazed you stayed as long as you did. Remember the fishy mash?

Lets do it again soon! I'm on a roll now and have just taken a mum from playgroup out for a drink on a tuesday...bad, bad brightongirl!

arfishy · 02/07/2008 11:50

Sprays wine mineral water @ stewardesses (I know your pain). I am flying with dodgy-flights pty on Friday to Fiji (nothing else available due to school holidays) and am taking no chances (ie packing mini wine bottles and croissants for the flight). Glad you and your lovely DD made it back to Hong Kong Shanghai anyway Ninedragons.

Bleaugh at the fishy mash.

Brightongirl - you are very norty .

Oh god, let's not do a pool do (clearly I would hate everybody to feel they need to match up to my fat pasty white model-esque body). I have a feeling that a bar is more our natural habitat anyway [more champagne anyone?]
