Lets have a new thread the other was getting a bit long!

All expats are welcome, I come from Perth WA and have been here for 8 years, married a pom and live in West London with my ds1 2yrs and ds2 1yr. No plans to move back to Oz but we are thinking of moving to Singapore for a couple of years. Well the weathers got to be better than here, and it will be further away from the inlaws

snap bubblemummy I grew up in Mt Lawley! How old are you? I'm 30 and my old house was on First Avenue. I was here on a holiday when I met Dh, and the rest is history. How about you?

Hey Quokka whats the story about S'pore? Are you def going?
Not much happening here, thou we are moving soon, to a lovely house (still renting thou!) We're going back to NZ in Oct now, so I get to enjoy summer here
Would love to meet up soon, still not convinced I can make it to Kew with ds though.......

quokka · 26/03/2007 11:22

Its all happening we should be moving in a couple of months - just sorting out all the paperwork. And trying to figure out how I'm going to move the family without too many disruptions.

KaybeeandZak · 26/03/2007 20:44

Wow how exciting for you! What a nightmare getting everything sorted etc though...

Do you want your carseat back or do you want us to buy it off you?

quokka · 27/03/2007 09:36

oohh I hadn't thought of that! Let me have a think because I know I want to have another baby at some stage . Will you by any chance be going through s'pore on your way home? If so you can stop off for a couple of days and stay with us .

OP posts:
KaybeeandZak · 27/03/2007 12:59

We haven't booked anything yet in regards to flights, but if we do go via singapore it would be lovely to stay with you

Just let me know about the car seat whenever you decide

quokka · 27/03/2007 13:55

it's always nice to break up the flight especially with a buba! I do wish that we were going after the summer - I've started growing veggies and will have to abandom them !

OP posts:
KaybeeandZak · 27/03/2007 19:32

Yeah it's a real shame that you'll miss summer

KaybeeandZak · 04/04/2007 12:54

We are moving this weekend, and won't have phone or internet until about mid april, so I probably won't be around much until then
Happy Easter everyone

superloopy · 04/04/2007 12:57

Good luck with your move!

I hope it all goes smoothly and stress free. Are you still in the same area? I think you are near to me (East London).

Bummer about the phone and internet though, hopefully time will fly!!

superloopy · 04/04/2007 12:57

Ooops forgot to say Happy Easter too!!

KaybeeandZak · 04/04/2007 21:20

Thanks superloopy, yes we're still in east london so it's not far to go, thank god!

Bubblemummy · 04/04/2007 22:06

Hello! Sorry late reply, having some technical difficulties with internet...

I am 24 (in response to your question quokka) and we were living on sixth ave, just down the road! It's actually Inglewood, technically. I was in London doing the backpacker thing when I met my dh, then we both lived in Perth for a year and had a baby, and now we're back here in London (for a couple of years anyway).

We had a really nice holiday in Rottnest just before we left, whenever I see your username it reminds me of it

Wow, you must be excited about moving to Singopore, it's great that you have the opportunity to travel. Do you think it is difficult living in a country with such a different culture? And what about Singopore?

sunshinefairy · 05/04/2007 07:54

happy Easter everyone. Lets hope it stays bright and sunny frot he Easter bunny.
Imagining i was in Brissy, it is raining there, it always rains at Easter in Brisbane. What are you all doing? going away?

quokka · 05/04/2007 09:47

what a small world bubblemummy! Really excited about s'pore, I have moved around alot in the past so another country and culture will be interesting. Believe it or not I've never been there, but we will be going for 4 days to find an apartment .

Kaybee I think it might be easier if you just buy our carseat? Have no idea how much - will check out ebay.

If anyone else needs anything please let me know as we will be trying to get rid of as much as poss!

Hi all, I've just come across this list. Great to meet you all (virtually...) I'm from Brisbane originally, living in London and have a 3 month old little girl. I look forward to boring you all with my various new mum/Antipodean-anxiety type queries!

quokka · 07/04/2007 14:30

Hi Pisces1902 and welcome, congrats on your new arrival .

So are we going to have another meetup soon?

sunshinefairy · 07/04/2007 18:49

pisces whereabouts in brisbane are you from, there are a few of us queensland banana benders on here? Congrats on your baby girl.

eidsvold · 08/04/2007 01:16

Picses I am a brissy girl - spent four years living and working in the UK - met dh and had dd1. We moved back to Brisbane in Jun 04. i grewup on the northside and still live there now.

Pisces1902 · 08/04/2007 08:04

Hi everyone,

Well, I've lived in a few places in Brisbane, but most recently in Mitchelton. I've always been a 'north side' girl though one way or another. Where abouts are other Brisbanites on the list from?

We are starting to wonder whether we should go back (the inevitable dilemma). Eidsvold - how did you find moving back with a little one? I guess we'd like to have family around to help out with dd, although we also love the independence of being away!

eidsvold · 08/04/2007 08:36

wow - small world - I went to Mitchelton high school way back when. Grew up in arana hills.

found it fine moving back with dd1 - she was almost 2 when we came back here. I was also about 20 weeks pregnant with dd2.

I had a house that was rented out so we at least came back to a base. Made life a little easier. Dh managed to get a job quite quickly which helped. We now live out in the pine rivers area.

it was a little hard though as I left Aus a single girl and came back a married mum of one and one on the way - so friendships had to change with some people - others it was fine. managed to make new friends through the playgroup I attended with dd1 and since she has been in kindy made even more.

Pisces1902 · 08/04/2007 20:18

Thanks Eidsvold - funny about the Mitchelton connection. Good to know things worked out well for you moving back. We're a bit nervous about it. As you say, a few friendships will change. Pine Rivers seems to be a popular area for young families these days.

Bubblemummy · 12/04/2007 13:54

Hey quokka, if you're trying to get rid of any clothes or toys or anything useful really, let me know and I could buy them off you. We don't have much stuff here as we moved over recently, and my ds isn't much younger than yours...

When are you actually leaving?

quokka · 12/04/2007 21:15

bubblemummy your welcome to come and get some stuff, have just started sorting through it all. We leave first week of June, but am going for 4 days next week for the first time - hope I like it!

OP posts:
KaybeeandZak · 13/04/2007 12:30

hey quokka, just let me know how much you want for the carseat, and we might be interested in other stuff if you're selling lots!! don't have any internet at home at the mo as we've moved to a new house...
