Belgian MNetters Meetup!

Portofino · 31/01/2011 21:57

All this talk of new movers and schools has made me remember that we must reschedule the Xmas Meetup (cancelled due to snow/extreme minus temps).

So who is interested?

When?

Where?

(Kreecher HAS to come before she moves back to Blighty as I NEED to see photos of Yum Yum Franky)

Otherwise I am easy!

What do you think?

OP posts:
rushingrachel · 01/02/2011 13:47

And Portofino I would love to come to a meetup to thank everyone who has helped with schools info ...

Portofino · 01/02/2011 20:03

I was thinking more of nice food and wine drinking! Wink You can do thanks in between......

kreecherlivesupstairs · 02/02/2011 08:09

When ever, wherever, however. Just say the word and I'll do my best.
I don't actually have any photos of YumYum, that would be too odd.

belgo · 02/02/2011 08:13

Kreecher are you leaving Belgium already?

kreecherlivesupstairs · 02/02/2011 08:48

Yep, end of July we (me and DD) will be leaving to live in the UK. She will be told the good news on Saturday.

belgo · 02/02/2011 09:30

As long as you don't leave mumsnet as wellSmile

kreecherlivesupstairs · 02/02/2011 10:36

I think that's pretty unlikely.

LongtimeinBrussels · 03/02/2011 13:34

I read yesterday that mumsnet had turned you into a slattern kreecher so I'd say you're pretty addicted and we won't get rid of you that easily Wink(looks around house that used to be oh so tidy to see papers and stuff EVERYWHERE).

Please make it this month! My dh and ds1 are going off to Asia for I don't know how long in March so I won't have anyone to look after dd (ds2 is in England).

monkeybumsmum · 03/02/2011 13:41

Hello! Thanks for message longtime, I'm definately up for a meet-up, how about a Friday or Saturday night? Ruthchan might be able to come if we do a Saturday...

Head's like fuzz from nasty tummy bug, so can't think what we're doing in the next few weeks, but am sure am free most dates Grin

Are we going to the same place as was planned in Dec?

Portofino · 03/02/2011 14:28

Saturday 19th / Satuday 26th February?

I don't mind where we go especially - the previous destination was based on Belgo being able to get back to Leuven on the bus....Happy to book it again, or any other suggestions?

OP posts:
monkeybumsmum · 03/02/2011 14:29

I'm so crap. Just remembered we are going on holiday over those dates! The weekend after perhaps?

Portofino · 03/02/2011 14:34

I guess the 12th is still an option? Otherwise we're in to March and Carnaval etc

OP posts:
monkeybumsmum · 03/02/2011 15:51

My dad's here then!

Btw Longtime if you need a babysitter while dh and ds1 are away I know a lovely guy in Tervuren who's at BSB. He's looked after ds before, and is lovely...

RuthChan · 03/02/2011 18:27

Hi everyone,

LongtimeinBrussels: Thanks for the heads-up about this thread.

As Monkeybumsmum said, I can really only guarantee to attend on a Saturday. Sorry for being awkward.

Saying that, I can't do the 12th as my parents are coming over that weekend.
Any other week is fine for me.

It looks like it might be tricky to get everyone together on the same night, so if a different night of the week or the 12th suits most people, I won't feel too insulted if I can't go.

Portofino · 03/02/2011 20:14

We could have two! Grin

How about everyone says when is good for them. We could do a Brussels one and an Overijse curry one for example.....

OP posts:
Portofino · 03/02/2011 20:16

Or Longtime, you could bring dd over here for a sleepover and we can leave dh in charge.

OP posts:
monkeybumsmum · 03/02/2011 20:29

Great! Love the idea of having two!

Btw, Ruth are we talking about February or March when we're saying the 12th? Just realised it's a saturday in both months, it's the 12th Feb I can't do...

RuthChan · 03/02/2011 20:42

Good point MBM.

I can't do 12th February.
I can do 12th March, or any other Saturday.

monkeybumsmum · 03/02/2011 22:22

Ooh yay, poss 12th March then? How does that suit everyone else? Or the Saturday before? Will your dh still be around then longtime?

kreecherlivesupstairs · 04/02/2011 07:31

TBH, for me both February and March are not good. We've got umpteen visitors (thanks DH).
April would be best for me, but I can try to get out of a part of one weekend. Particularly when in laws are here.

LongtimeinBrussels · 04/02/2011 08:47

No, he won't be around on 12 March but I can either ask my dsil if dd can stay there otherwise maybe I can take Porto up on her offer to have dd there.

belgo · 04/02/2011 08:49

I have no idea what shifts I have for Feb and March and I don't really want to put in too many requests because of child care.

I will come if I can. I not, I will organise a meal out at my favourite Italian which Portofino seems to enjoy as well!

thanksamillion · 04/02/2011 18:01

Hello all. I'm not in Belgium but I'd just like to say that I'm insanely jealous that you all are and get to have fun MN meetups. Envy
Because no-one lives near me Sad
As you were... Grin

RuthChan · 04/02/2011 18:28

Hi Thanksamillion. Thanks for popping in.

Where do you live?
I thought there were mumsnetters in every corner of the globe!

We can save you a place at table if you fancy coming to join us. You'd be more than welcome.

Portofino · 04/02/2011 19:33

The Kings Speech is on in Feb I believe? Let's split it up a bit. Cinema night in Feb? Dinner somewhere March 12th? Another date in April somewhere.

I think there are too many of us to fix a date where everyone can come. My weekends are generally free for a while. And weekenights depend on Dh's travel schedule. If any one fancies a curry or a film in the comng weeks I am up for it
