Hi all

It’s Kerr here, I wanted to post a quick update as I’m conscious Pamela hasn’t been on for a few days and the thread seems to have reached its limit.

Pamela hasn’t been feeling so good over the last few days - on a positive note, her bloods seem to have stabilised and, all being well, she might be ok for chemo round 2 in the next couple of days. She had a blood transfusion yesterday which, we hope, will also boost her energy levels. On the downside, her jaundice has returned, the bilirubin levels are increasing significantly. The CT scan at the beginning of the week showed no new blockages and our Consultant thought that some early necrosis of the tumour after the last chemo might be contributing, but nobody really knows what’s causing it. Further discussion to take place tomorrow. Seeing the jaundice is one of the worst parts of this, it’s so clear and obvious when it’s happening yet there’s nothing we can do to alleviate it.

Just wanted to let you know the latest. Please, please keep praying for her - she’s my everything, my world, and every thought and prayer is deeply appreciated.

Kerr

Yes, this is me. I think of Pamela often. But I agree with @deltablue

Mumtolittleorange · 01/08/2023 19:34

Think @deltablue is right and we should now leave things be. Sorry for your loss x

Morning.

It’s Kerr here. I’m sorry for not having posted on here for the last 10 days, it’s been a very traumatic time - we received bad news last Monday following which Pamela’s condition deteriorated very quickly, the doctors anticipated that Pamela only had a few days left such was the speed of her decline. Whilst her body recovered for chemotherapy, unfortunately a further CT scan revealed that the tumour had spread further and our consultant confirmed there was nothing further that could be done. Our family flew to London last week and very sadly, after an incredible fight, Pamela passed away peacefully late on Tuesday evening and we returned to NI yesterday.

I’m keeping this post brief because I’m reeling from a ‘fake’ post that somebody has created under the heading “Pamela Thread 7”. Quite honestly this has been heart breaking to read this morning. Pamela was always open with her feelings and simply sought support from Mumsnet - she provided personal information and photos and whoever created that thread should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Pamela took great support from all the wishes and prayers that were provided and it was one of her wishes that I provided a proper update to thank everyone when the time came. She placed enormous trust and faith in the wishes that were expressed and I am at a loss to understand why someone would take it upon themselves to do this.

For those of you who genuinely expressed support, from the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you - you helped Pamela along a very difficult journey. For those of you who thought Pamela was simply seeking attention, please know that human kindness goes so far beyond that. There are some people who simply wish to love and be loved, who wish kindness on all and can see beyond devious intent. Pamela was that person. She is at peace now and will forever be in my heart.

Kerr

I'm so sorry to hear your update. Please take care of each other. I'm pleased that she was surrounded by family and love.

Enforceddrysummer · 03/08/2023 11:02

Kerr, I don't want to say a lot of platitudes. Pamela's frank posts on her condition were amazing considering how unwell she was. I'll never forget a woman that I'd never met and I'm sure that goes for many of us on MN. Much love to you, Jacob and all who loved her.

Sewingdufus · 03/08/2023 11:02

I am so sorry for your loss.

💐for Pamela and those she loved.

Lostatsea10 · 03/08/2023 11:03

I’m sorry for yours and Jacob’s loss and to your wider family and friends as well. She will be with you always. Take care x

AnnaNims · 03/08/2023 11:03

Sorry to hear this, and thank you for updating the thread.

Shadesofscarlett · 03/08/2023 11:03

I am so very sorry for the update - I agree platitudes seem worthless, but I can say that I am one of many who had such admiration for Pamela and for you all.

LesLavandes · 03/08/2023 11:04

My deepest sympathy to you, your son and family.

May Pamela rest peacefully 🌺

Easyontheeyes · 03/08/2023 11:04

spiderlight · 03/08/2023 11:05

So very sorry for your loss. You, Jacob, and all Pamela's loved ones will be in my thoughs. She was a very special person and she touched so many lives.

Pegsmum · 03/08/2023 11:05

Oh Kerr, I’m so sorry. I replied to the fake post on thread 7, why anyone would want to do such a thing is beyond comprehension. Please don’t give it any headspace, it’s not worth it.
Pamela was obviously an amazing woman and she has impacted on me greatly through her writing, I will always remember her. Her love for you and Jacob shone through her posts and I send you all my love and support. As Pamela would say, in faith, hope and love. X
