My DD3 has stage 4 Cancer

We are in shock, horror, disbelief. Last week she had a sore leg and went to A&E, now she has stage 4 Neuroblastoma and chemo starts on Tuesday.
She's only 3 but she's taking it in her stride. She cried the other night and said 'I don't want to be sick, I just want to go to nursery with my friends' it broke my heart.
The implications are just hitting, our whole lives are turned upside down for at least a year. One of us will have to give up work, how will we cope? Financially, emotionally.
I have a black lump in my stomach and can't believe this is happening to us

Thanks @Kfjsjdbd @Frazzled2207 she has 22 days of treatment left to go! she is having immunotherapy. The last checks we had, she had cancer cells left in her bones so we haven't heard the magic words 'no evidence of disease' yet. We have loads of scans, tests etc booked in for the next month to tell us if it has worked or no. She has done extremely well all through treatment. Can you believe she has started school and her hair is coming back and we are so so so close to this being over. Thanks for checking in. I can't wait to update you and let you know she has been able to ring the bell x

I was marshalling at London marathon on Sunday selfishly coz you get put in the ballot and every-time a children with cancer vest ran past I started sobbing, I'm so glad your lovely daughter got to ring the bell 🔔 x

Thank you @ncforyetanotherone & @Wotwotwotwotwot. I'm very happy to say that she is in remission 😁we found out last week. She is ringing the bell next week. In her words 'Cancer is over'. She still has minimal residual disease in her bones but it is stable and has been so for months so, hopefully, it will remain so. What a hard 15 months for her. From aged 3-5. She can't even remember having hair! Hers is growing back beautifully now. She is happy and healthy and doing well at school

Aww this is the most wonderful news. Enjoy watching her ring that bell! Make sure someone is videoing it, I still love looking back at DS ringing his (and breaking it BlushGrin)

Congratulations!! Xx

Such wonderful news. Enjoy ringing that bell. I know you’ll be anxious for a while yet but I know two families whose young children sadly got cancer in the early days of the pandemic- like you they had a year of near hell but in both cases it’s all a fairly distant memory now and they’re
living their lives like totally normal
families.
