We are in shock, horror, disbelief. Last week she had a sore leg and went to A&E, now she has stage 4 Neuroblastoma and chemo starts on Tuesday.
She's only 3 but she's taking it in her stride. She cried the other night and said 'I don't want to be sick, I just want to go to nursery with my friends' it broke my heart.
The implications are just hitting, our whole lives are turned upside down for at least a year. One of us will have to give up work, how will we cope? Financially, emotionally.
I have a black lump in my stomach and can't believe this is happening to us

I’m so, so sorry. How completely devastating. Sending you lots of love and wishing you strength. Maybe you could do crowdfunding to bolster your finances ? xx

OnTheHillNotOverIt · 18/08/2021 23:10

Sorry OP that is such a shock.

I’m sure your gp would sign one of you off sick with anxiety/stress?

Baileys123 · 18/08/2021 23:11

Sending you all love and strength to get through this ❤

NoWordForFluffy · 18/08/2021 23:11

I'm so sorry about your news.

While I don't have personal experience, one of the children who was part of my June '13 antenatal group on here was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was 5. She had about 18 months of treatment and is now cancer free. It wasn't an easy journey, but she came out the other side.

Sending you strength. Flowers

How horrific for you all. Thinking of you.

Nonononomaybe · 18/08/2021 23:12

So sorry that you and your family are going through this - my heart goes out to you.
www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk/life-with-cancer/my-child-has-cancer/
This charity (previously known as clicsargent) helped my family when my sibling had cancer - many years ago now (they are now grown up with children of their own!).
They sent us a cheque to cover the cost of parking at the hospital and help get accommodation nearby, really helped us out at the time.
Let people help you as much as you can - the vast majority of of our friends and family stepped up in so many ways that we couldn’t have imagined.
Sending strength and love ❤️

Foolsrule · 18/08/2021 23:16

In the very short term, can you be signed off work with stress? Just to give you a bit of breathing space?

I second the poster that suggested talking to Maggies. They’ve been such amazing support for our family and will be invaluable.

I wish you and your precious daughter all the strength to get through the months ahead. You both sound pretty special. Flowers

AliceMcK · 18/08/2021 23:35

I don’t have any advice other than the hospital should be able to help you with advice and support, the McMillan nurses are amazing.

Stay strong, children are so resilient and stronger than we think 💐

colourchangingcup · 18/08/2021 23:38

Had to join to say this. Have a look on Facebook to see if there is a group for families of children going through treatment on that ward. Take all the support offered by the ward. I work on a ward that cares for children with cancer and we have a lot of resources so ask for help when you need it
