My DD3 has stage 4 Cancer

We are in shock, horror, disbelief. Last week she had a sore leg and went to A&E, now she has stage 4 Neuroblastoma and chemo starts on Tuesday.
She's only 3 but she's taking it in her stride. She cried the other night and said 'I don't want to be sick, I just want to go to nursery with my friends' it broke my heart.
The implications are just hitting, our whole lives are turned upside down for at least a year. One of us will have to give up work, how will we cope? Financially, emotionally.
I have a black lump in my stomach and can't believe this is happening to us

How are things going OP?

Sending best wishes and love to you all. Definitely use the help that you are offered. I'm so sorry you all are having to go through this, life is very unfair

Just read the thread. I'm so happy the surgery was successful although it's not the end of the battle it is a victory worth celebrating. I know you're doing an amazing job. As a cancer survivor in my twenties I'm in awe of these little children who fight the Teddy monsters. Wishing her the very very best.

Thanks

Hi all, this has been a low week for me. DD4 is fine, putting me to shame and taking things in her stride. She's recovered very well from surgery and is straight back in for chemo. She hasn't eaten for 2 weeks so is being tube fed. Docs are not too concerned about this which makes me feel better

We've been going through this for 4 months. We've at least 6 months to go. It's relentless and she gets weaker and smaller each month. This life is shit, the black ball of anxiety seems very large.

In the meantime, my little warrior takes everything in good spirits, faces the world with a smile, is so utterly brave. She is inspirational, I need to draw my strength from her

You are doing amazingly.

Last night my little boy (6) was blue lighted to hospital with suspected meningitis. We've been so lucky and it isn't meningitis, and he's on the mend. But all I could think was how unbelievably hard it must be for parents of really poorly kids. You're going through a long and incredibly tough journey. Please don't be hard on yourself. You are incredible and so is your little girl.

abouttogoon · 06/12/2021 22:12

Can't imagine the stress you must be under, been thinking of you and hope that you have a better week. Thanks

bluelemming · 06/12/2021 22:16

I've been in a similar situation to you OP, and find myself thinking of you a lot. Mine was 30 years ago now but it still honestly feels like yesterday sometimes. You will somehow get through this. Sending much love.

This is an amazing update 🥰

ToddlerMumma · 23/12/2021 19:10

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! We had ours last Sunday and it was brilliant! Both girls loved it and we had 2 friends round and ate and drank for 8hrs and played with the kids toys Smile now that we've 'done' Christmas, it feels like the pressure is off for the real day. DD is In Hospital until 27th having another round of chemo so I'll be with her. The nurses are being amazing and Santa came to the ward today which she loved. She is happy and positive and resilient as ever, she is the strongest little person I know and I'm so proud of her! 2022 is the year we will get rid of this cancer for good.
