My DD3 has stage 4 Cancer

We are in shock, horror, disbelief. Last week she had a sore leg and went to A&E, now she has stage 4 Neuroblastoma and chemo starts on Tuesday.
She's only 3 but she's taking it in her stride. She cried the other night and said 'I don't want to be sick, I just want to go to nursery with my friends' it broke my heart.
The implications are just hitting, our whole lives are turned upside down for at least a year. One of us will have to give up work, how will we cope? Financially, emotionally.
I have a black lump in my stomach and can't believe this is happening to us

I too have been thinking of you & am so pleased to hear this update. I'm glad you all managed to have a nice Christmas & that there is still joy for your DD in the hospital. You continue to be amazing OP. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Sending all good wishes for 2022Smile

I agree. Here's to 2022 kicking cancer up the arse! You have an amazing daughter. All the best to her, to you and your family.

Eileen101 · 26/12/2021 21:13

Great news that you had a lovely Christmas & your daughter is holding her own 💪🏻 here’s hoping by Christmas 2022 she will be cancer free! Sending love and luck! 💐

Misspacorabanne · 27/12/2021 17:10

Wonderful update op! Get well soon to your little warrior!!

ToddlerMumma · 30/12/2021 18:42

We got bad news today. We had a hearing test and her high frequency hearing has been permanently damaged but the chemo drugs, probably Cisplatin. I knew it was a risk but she's had perfect hearing tests so far so it was a horrid surprise. It's another thing taken away from her life, like her fertility. The woman at the test place said it's a small price to pay for her life but I'm still so disappointed for her Sad

Very sorry to hear that. Logically you know the woman at the test place is right, but it's totally understandable that emotionally it's a huge shock. Your little one won't have the future you'd hoped for her and that takes a lot of adjusting to.

Take care of yourselves. Flowers

madisonbridges · 30/12/2021 19:12

That's sad. But keep your eye on the bigger picture. She's with you and doing well. My hearing has been crap from when I was in my late teens. I talk a bit louder than I should do ( 🙉 ) but it really hasn't affected my life at all badly.
Here's to 2022 bringing better news.

Hi all, we're in Hospital having high dose chemo. In fact, she's just had her last dose of chemo ever! One step forward and closer to the end of her treatment plan. She's coping well but we've been warned she'll be very unwell over the next few weeks/months as her body deals with these toxic drugs.
Just Radiotherapy in the spring then 6 months of immunotherapy and she should get to ring the bell by mid November 2022. Not quite before she starts school but near enough x

What a little trooper! Every step forward is a step in the right direction and you've done an amazing job at supporting her through it all.

Keep going wee one, you're a superstar ⭐️💫✨🌟

mrmonkeyjocks · 22/01/2022 19:18

Well done to your daughter, she sounds like an absolute warrior princess 💗 As do you.

Can I ask, you said she was diagnosed when in hospital for a sore leg - how did they discover the cancer from this?

ToddlerMumma · 22/01/2022 19:33

@mrmonkeyjocks we went to A&E and they thought it was an inflammation in the hip joint so gave her an X-ray. In the corner of the X-ray, they saw a shadow in her abdomen so they scanned there and found a huge tumour. Her legs were sore as the tumour was pressing on her spine. It also explained the tummy aches, constipation etc she'd been having in the few months prior to diagnosis x

@ToddlerMumma I hope you don’t mind me asking, but how is your DD?

Also checking in to see how she is doing @ToddlerMumma

ToddlerMumma · 05/10/2022 21:48

Thanks @Kfjsjdbd @Frazzled2207 she has 22 days of treatment left to go! she is having immunotherapy. The last checks we had, she had cancer cells left in her bones so we haven't heard the magic words 'no evidence of disease' yet. We have loads of scans, tests etc booked in for the next month to tell us if it has worked or no. She has done extremely well all through treatment. Can you believe she has started school and her hair is coming back and we are so so so close to this being over. Thanks for checking in. I can't wait to update you and let you know she has been able to ring the bell x
