Ive been maliciously accused of shoplifting. By a woman in a well known news store currently undergoing a name change. This was last month on Saturday 26th July. This was followed by someone posting false accusations about me on social media Ive reported it to the police under the Malicious Communications Act AND IVE BEEN GIVEN A CRIME NUMBER It escalated on Sunday 17th August where a man ive never met before "confronted" me in another shop (supermarket corner shop) calling me a shoplifter and repeating the same shit from last month. Ive updated the police as its harassment. Ive never shoplifted in my life. Ive got piles and piles of carrier bags from this news store and have spent a lot of money there since my teens (im now in my fifties) I was ringing solicitors yesterday but havent found one to handle a case like this.

Would that include my local Sainsburys who give me a Christmas card for being one of their most polite and respectful customers? Manager herself told me this

Of all the flexes I've seen on Mumsnet, I think this is my favourite one of all. Congratulations on your Christmas card! 🌹

Which the poster kindly set up after an awful experience her mother went through

This isn’t the Boots woman. Categorically not. I know her from a well known beauty group and she’s very laser focussed on no7 and Clinique and this just is not her

If she knows her onions she should also know that Korean skincare is 10 to 12 years ahead of us in product development

You're right, but her obsession is with those brands.

@JenniferBooth has anything else happened or have you contacted the manager?

My mum lives in the countryside and the things she says about how people behave on the bus. There is an alcoholic lady who keeps shouting things to my mum (78) when she gets off like I hope you effing fall with your trolley.
People seem unfiltered these days. And not young people older ones.

Havent contacted the manager I did ring the Chelmsford store as the slanderous post said i had made a nuisance of myself there too Unsurprisingly they didnt know who i was or what i was talking about.

If they don't know who you are then you obviously aren't banned.
So......
Carry on shopping there.
Any Facebook posts that appear you report to the admin of that group to remove (or Facebook itself if not removed).
If anyone says anything to you in the street or wherever just ignore them or say "I have no idea what you are talking about".

A bodycam to prove what? It's ridiculousness like this, writing to the CEO of a company over a non-issue, claiming that you've been falsely accused of shouting in shops then ranting and typing in ALL CAPS at people on here that has the majority of people on this thread not taking you seriously OP.

Do you have trouble with comprehension? I clearly stated it was DHs idea not mine

Please read the thread It was two seperate incidents I was accsed on 26 July The slanderous posts was a week later Then the Sunday just gone i was harassed in a store by a young man "arent you the lady who has been stealing from WH Smith" The woman who accused me was im guessing late 30s early 40s The young bloke very early 20s possibly 18

Update Went back into corner shop last Sunday and the same cocky little Andrew Tate wannabe who was slandering me went back into same shop the same evening pissed as a fart , shouting at someone on the phone, tried to buy some products and his payment was declined.........TWICE. He had to put everything back.

Yes its really sweet of her. Do you remember the large rocks shaped like babies dummies that we could just about get in our mouths. They are even bigger now apparently. So a food item that has actually got bigger rather than smaller.

Some of the replies on this thread are bonkers...

Of course the OP is perfectly right to be upset by the fact that she is being accused of something she hasn't done, is having her good name trashed on social media and is getting no luck in getting the store to investigate properly and liaise with her...

I would be livid too.

OP, I would say that if the store is continuing to stonewall you, get in touch with your local/regional media and tell them your story.

The threat of bad PR always get things moving with companies that are trying to fob off customers...

Completely agree. I'd be furious too

So you went into other shops and told them that you'd been accused of shoplifting???? Well they'll be watching you too now. What an odd move.

I would say that it is a normal move if she knows the staff in these stores because the shock of what someone has accused her of is so wrong and it is the validation that others don’t believe she is a shoplifter.

I don’t act dodgy (at least I don’t think I do) I have never stolen anything in my life. The guilt I would feel wouldn’t be worth it.

I used to shop in my local mall regularly but don’t anymore as I think I have one of those faces that security guards think I am definitely a shop lifter and have someone follow me around a store watching everything I pick up

Used to enjoy having a browse and buying stuff but it became such a horrible experience that I don’t do that anymore

Having someone accuse you of something you haven’t done can have far reaching effects.
Your job, future employment even your life could be put at risk. And as JenniferBooth has found, you can be subject to harassment by vigilante members of the public who haven’t got two brain cells to rub together.
Assaults and even fatal assaults have been known to happen to innocent members of the public who someone has decided to post libelous content

I think you can ask Facebook to take down the posts, but I would download the post and the comments. Before hand just so you have a record.

I would also monitor the posts of this woman and anyone who commented negatively about you and make a diary of any interaction that you have with her or anyone who thinks her posts are correct.

I would also keep an eye and ear out for any instance in your job or if you go for another job or anything where you feel you are being treated differently to others because someone believe the lies and what impact that has.

That is where your case lies
