I would say that it is a normal move if she knows the staff in these stores because the shock of what someone has accused her of is so wrong and it is the validation that others don’t believe she is a shoplifter.
I don’t act dodgy (at least I don’t think I do) I have never stolen anything in my life. The guilt I would feel wouldn’t be worth it.
I used to shop in my local mall regularly but don’t anymore as I think I have one of those faces that security guards think I am definitely a shop lifter and have someone follow me around a store watching everything I pick up
Used to enjoy having a browse and buying stuff but it became such a horrible experience that I don’t do that anymore
Having someone accuse you of something you haven’t done can have far reaching effects.
Your job, future employment even your life could be put at risk. And as JenniferBooth has found, you can be subject to harassment by vigilante members of the public who haven’t got two brain cells to rub together.
Assaults and even fatal assaults have been known to happen to innocent members of the public who someone has decided to post libelous content
I think you can ask Facebook to take down the posts, but I would download the post and the comments. Before hand just so you have a record.
I would also monitor the posts of this woman and anyone who commented negatively about you and make a diary of any interaction that you have with her or anyone who thinks her posts are correct.
I would also keep an eye and ear out for any instance in your job or if you go for another job or anything where you feel you are being treated differently to others because someone believe the lies and what impact that has.
That is where your case lies
